Donovan turned to see Aliya, Feng and Ryu at the door, in which he was glad since that meant they hadn't just diappeared on him. Really, with Feng he never knew and with Aliya he knew less. Even though he knew logically she could have changed somewhat since the last time they had met.
He looked less intimdating than usual, but probably because he was cradling Lin in his arms like she was a baby. She was quite snug where she was looking like she was ready to doze off at any minute.
"There you three are," he murmured, "You missed dinner."

"We'll probably be catching a bite to eat once we get back," Feng replied with a giggle.
She smiled innocently at Donovan, even though it was genuine, since really they hadn't gotten into any trouble at all. Feng had been for one of the few times in her life very well behaved and sane.
The world might end.
"We just came to check in with you," Ryu explained, "And to see if there is anything we need to know before we get back."

Aliya nodded her agreement with the twins, then added, "Mum and Ada always wait for me to come home to eat dinner so that I can eat with them. Besides, we've been busy ... training and such, for the most part."
Come to think of it, they had done more training that day (though in different ways) than she had ever done in a single day, in her memory.

"That's fine," Donovan replied with a nod, "Just come and see me before I leave, both of you will be busy with your new lessons at least, but Triton is going to be looking after your normal physical lessons," he murmured, "And you have to help Lin with her writing lessons."
Since Triton didn't know Chinese, he never had to learn it as a child, and really it was a choice up to the children whether they wanted to learn it or not.

Ryu chuckled at that, Donovan was ever the viligent taskmaster. He wasn't overly surprised though, seeing as he, Feng and Lin were not yet adults and still had learning to be done.
"Okay then, we'll check in with you tomorrow," Ryu nodded.
"We'll be gone," Feng added with a grin.

"See you in the morning, then," Aliya grinned, heading back towards the door again. "Come on, Feng, Ryu, we should get going, Mum and Ada will be waiting for us, and we have to be up early again, we promised Halmir we would see him, too, before they left."

"Oh yea..." Feng nodded as she waved to Donovan, "See you later!"
She bounced out after Aliya as Ryu gave his good nights in a much more calm manner than his sister. Before showing himself out.

Donovan watched as the twins and Aliya left, it was good to know that the three were getting along well. Aliya seemed to enjoy the two's company well enough.
"Well now," he turned to Elrohir, "Since that is out of the way, how about bed?"

Elrohir nodded. "Of course. This way."
He beckoned for Donovan to follow him and headed out of the kitchen, through the dining room, and towards the stairs.

Aliya stepped outside ahead of Feng and Ryu and was surprised to see someone else standing there, seemingly waiting ... and apparently for her.
"Amdir?"
It was indeed him, and as he stepped into the moonlight, Aliya could see that he looked far more serious than usual - which was quite serious, for him.
"Hi," he said softly, sounding very hesitant, as if he didn't really know what he was doing. "I ... ah ... thought you might like some company on your walk home ..."

Donovan followed, it would be good to get some rest, both he and Lin needed it. After all tomorrow was going to be a long and interesting day.

Feng scratched her head, it seemed odd that Amdir would offer to walk them home. She looked at him, and looked at him and blinked and looked at him some more. Her brother didn't seem at all troubled by this, but then again he had a few guesses under his sleeve.
"Won't it be a problem to walk back so late?"

Amdir blinked at Feng and Ryu, and a look of complete and utter perplexity crossed his face.
"Um ... oh ... are ... you're not staying here, then? With your father?" He was completely confused now. He had thought that Aliya would be walking back alone tonight, and that was why he had offered to walk her home ...
Aliya wasn't fazed in the least. "They need to come back with me," she told him, "because they have to sleep in the river, they need water. But you can come with us if you want to, right?"
She looked to Feng and Ryu to see if they would object.

"Of course!" Feng clapped her hands together.
Even though she still didn't know quite what was going on, was this normal? She didn't know.
"As Mother says, the more the merrier!"

Amdir looked slightly embarrassed now, and he cleared his throat awkwardly.
"Well ... um ... if ... if you already have company, perhaps it would be best if I ... er ... didn't?" he suggested nervously. "I mean, I ... had thought you would be ..." He coughed. "... alone ..."
Aliya blinked innocently. "But what does that have to do with anything?" she asked. "You can still come with us!"
