Anybody check out the new Alien vs Predator game coming out? I'm actually pretty excited for it and if anyone's played AVP2 for the PC then it should be near exactly the same thing (just add the better graphics and possible new "story")
Aside from that multiplayer looks to be sweet.
Another thing anybody check out the stuff for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine?

DarkElf27 Sir Kyle Aziz You tell that to a 75 ton Madcat who one shots and basically desintigrates Batman with a Clan ER PPC shot. Hang on, your 10-story walking robot is only 75 tons? That's smaller than most tanks. It really depends on the class, materials used and whatnot. Mech Warrior is something people take too serious. As for the game, I thought that the new Mech Warrior was before the invasion of the Clans and as such, no Mad Cats or omni-mechs for that matter will be involved.

correct. i takes place a few years before the clan invasion. as for the materials to weight ratio, the mechs according to battletech cannon are composed of the following:
Skeletal structure / chassis Endo-steel (lighter stronger)
armor firro-fibrous armor or endo steel derivative armor (cant exactly remember the name.) Reactive armor, and Reflective armor
Power-plant Fusion reactor
Locomotion Myomer musculature
Stability Gyroscopic stabilizer w/ input taken directly from the pilots sense of balance via sensor pads in the pilots Nerohelmet
Jump propellant (if any) Mercury Jump Mass
so with the future's leaps in technology the above materials have been produced and have been made lighter to allow greater payloads to be carried into battle. besides no-one complains about gundams (as big as Atlas assault mech weighing in at a paltry 8-12 tons. so in each universe things will weigh different. lol and for fun in the battletech universe the Lucifer Aerospace Fighter weighs in at 95 tons! pirate

It's during the third Succession Wars, or just after I believe.. My sources say; "Actually, the story starts just as Hanse Davion comes to power, so it is just, as you said, at the end of the Third, right at the beginning of what will become the Fourth Succession War." He's a very reliable source, he's the maker of the game. So I'm curious to see if there will be clanner tech at all. I mean, the Atlas will be making an appearance, and the Warhammer was there, and that third mech... It, was a clan mech wasn't it? I don't recall being able to identify it, but it's ugly like most Clan lights.

Alas no clan tech. the mechs were a Jenner (jumped on the building) Atlas Prime (Big @$$ mofo) And the Warhammer (Exploder). so we may not get to see many of our favorite mechs in this game but because its a full reboot of the franchise.... <.< >.> <.< i think we can expect (father sown the road of course pending sales etc.) a reboot of Mechwarrior 4 Vengence? Mercenaries? o_0

Mreh, the scale versus weight just seems horribly ignored... Cube square law, people, cube square law...

DarkElf27 Mreh, the scale versus weight just seems horribly ignored... Cube square law, people, cube square law... I don't know, when you're dealing with technology that is so much more advanced then our own. How hard is it to believe you can have armour and other things that are super light and super durable? Or does that make too much sense too? I mean, that we could while populating hundreds of planets while having faster the light travel that we would find things that would blow our current ages minds? Edit for Necron; Hurr durr, I know the Atlas is inner-sphere and I know the Warhammer is inner sphere but the Jenner is a CLAN (Harhar, I was right, the Clanners only field ugly lights.) Mech.

People said man would never fly. now i get double sky miles on Tuesday! the leap from the wright flier to the international space station took just 97 years! give or take a few months.... so massive leaps in technology like that can in 1000 years lead to: Myomer Muscles, Ferro-fibrous Armor Fusion Reactors, Particle Cannons, Gauss Rifles, Auto-cannons, and 10-12 storie tall 100 ton battlemechs marching through downtown engaging in epic firefights over control of the center of the Inner Sphere!

the inner sphere has a Jenner as well! read your back story just a bit...
General Kerensky upon seeing the state of the star league and the massive war that was to follow (succession wars) took a full third of all the armies of the star league and set out to places unknown to protect and preserve humanity through the hellstorm that was about to ensue. so in closing the inner sphere sank into barbarism whilst the remnants of the star league that fled with Kerensky evolved their technology while the inner spheres stagnated
according to the Sarna.net battletech wiki the Jenner is an inner sphere refit aka Jenner IIC and not an original Clan design. it looks Clan ill give it that but with a Craptastic armament of 2 srm launches and 2 medium lasers (and if i remember right) and the option for a large laser and several machine guns. why use that when the Clan Uller Mounts a Clan EE-Large Laser, A Clan ER_Medium Laser and 2 Clan LRM5 launchers. and yes the Jenner has jump jets while the Uller doesn't but for sheer Firepower the Uller tops the Jenner
*Edit plus the time frame for the new game places it well before the clan invasion of the inner sphere so unless smith and tinker plan on royally screwing with the Battletech timeline then the Jenner you see is the *Inner sphere* version of it (till the clans attack) so if the game is a true mechwarrior game set before the clan incursion then there will be NO omni-mechs and NO clan tech what so ever. Sadly ill miss my Clan Gauss rifles emo

The IS didn't stagnate, it kinda went backwards. The clans had been gone long before the third succession war though. The Star League had been in their own space for quite some time.
I mean, the Star League warriors left after 2604 or whenever the Reunifacation war and the Amaris Coup ended. Which is just shy of 300 years before the third succession war started.
The Jenner is old tech, apparently it was made in '2784' Which is why I figured it was Clan tech. Because that is after the Star League left the IS. Aswell as yes the Uller is a good weapons platform, but you need mechs to do information gathering. Not every mech is going to have half it's weight in armament. Take the Raven for example, it's got a good 10 tonnes for all it's electronics, and heck. That Beagle Active Probe is a godsend.
