It was a dark and windy night. Brooke was just about to lay down to sleep when she heard the sound again. It had been happening regularly for a week now. At midnight, downstairs, without fail, for hours on end, the yapping of a small dog would start. And it would keep her up. All. Night. But not tonight. Tonight she'd had enough. Tonight she was going to do something about it.

She threw off her covers, slipped her slippers on and padded carefully downstairs. She could still hear the yapping of the small dog coming from what sounded like the basement. She headed to the basement door and opened it, and started down the stairs... eek
