Hey guys, my friends and I are planning on starting a webcomic pretty soon, called 'Just like Us'. I'm going to be doing the writing for it and stuff, and we should be started in about a month.
However, I wanted to launch a site of my own using my Mom's server, and I was mulling over a few ideas in my head. Let me know what you think of the following ideas that i came up with:
1) A website dedicated to a philosophical, episodic breakdown of many popular, and some not so mainstream, series. This site would have a number of purposes. One would be to provide an episode by episode summary of particular series in basic terminology. A met B, C got jealous, etc... However, what I would really focus on is the philosophical or otherwise more universal messages that some of these series hold. For example, the concepts of hell as seen in Jigoku Shoujo, analysis of the protagonist in a number of series including Rahxephon and Rurouni Kenshin, and also I was thinking about some sort of study regarding Saikano as well (namely the concept of Love, or what they want to come from Love in their nigh apocalyptic setting). Weekly recommendations of Manga, Anime and Video Games would be part of the site, as well as reviews for new and upcoming Anime Manga and Video Games.
2) A 'ghost-writing' service. Mainly for programming articles, for people who know the technical part of say, Zope or Plone, but don't know how to make the words string together to make it an article worth publishing. They would submit to me the technical info and what they want their basic message to be, and I edit it and send it back to them ready for publication approval. If they get published, I take a 30-40% cut. if they get paid 500, I get 150-200 for it. It would also depend on how long it took me, etc.
I forgot my third idea. lol.
But yeah, what do you guys think? I know there's stuff like the ANN out there, and it makes it difficult for me to break into it...and don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking that as soon as I start up the site I'll be raking in tons of money, lol, that would be too naive of me. It's just something I was thinking of starting up and maybe being able to draw some income from at a later date.
Your feedback is appreciated. ^_^

Aeremonster Manji 2.0 Little Indigo Dear Stream,
Please devour the AMC. I will repay you with radioactive pennies that will mutate people on contact when thrown at them.
Much love, Indy why so glum chum? Agreed. I know its usally full of idiocy, but what can be worse then the usal? The fact that I've had to report over 100 threads in the Anime Music subforum alone (I stopped at the first half of page 5)... Add another 50 or so from Series (pages 1-2), and you can see my frustration.
Usually, I report around 30 total (mostly because other people have already beaten me to reporting) or so and stop for the day. But I stepped into Anime Music, and saw only 9% or so repeat threads were already reported (no doubt moved from elsewhere, even though they still don't belong in Anime Music). Even though I went through over 4 pages in Music, there were still a lot of repeated threads after where I stopped. In Series, I just gave up. I found myself cursing and ranting out loud about people's choice of topics and saw that as a sign for me to stop.
I know I don't deal with as much stupidity as the more active AMCers in the guild, but still. The AMC needs serious help. I don't care if we get more mods, but I seriously feel that new helpers are needed. Especially ones with powers in music. Or actually are online more than 2 hours at a time... I'm sick of the fact that the AMC looks like a nuclear disaster every time I check in.

Aeremonster What's wrong? Does it have double sound? I know how to fix that. The ZLC player has a propensity to not redraw some lines as often as it should... that and I like jumping to the part of a video I click on in the progress slide... not in a 5% increment in that direction. Edit: I thought you were talking about ZLC for some reason... I use it on occasion too, but generally just do WMP.

Much love, Indy Dear Indy, Sporing mutations >>> radioactive pennies any day of the week and twice on Friday. However, convince WJ to stop being so milquetoast on allowing capitol punishment and the AMC will be a smoking crater within minutes. Much devouring, Streamjumper CC: Lanzer, Zelyhon

Anyway, I just finished watching Syriana. Great movie. It actually depressed the hell out of me. Still, I was really impressed by it's delivery, and the way it portrayed the United States and it's policies and actions in the middle east, regarding oil. I'd definitely recommend it.
