"Could you? Warm things? I don't want her to have to hibernate. It gets pretty cold, here." But the cold didn't bother him, not much. "I don't know what else babies need," he added, giving the beacon a questioning glance.

"Sure, we can bring her a care package," Toby agreed with a nod, "She's beyond like... binkies and things, but we'll bring you some supplies."

"Thank you," Reese said. "I guess you better start preparing, if you want to be here within ten days." It'd be nice to see Toby again. Oh! "Can Dari come? You'll bring him, won't you?"

"Yeah, he'll be there!" Toby said, "He's my partner. Maia will be back too, for the sprites. Alright. If you have any questions before we get there, just phone in. Someone will be here and can get me a message. We'll see you in ten days!"

"Good!" Reese smiled brightly. He was fond of Dari. "I can show you guys how the foxes have grown! Dari will want to see them, I bet!" He smiled again. "Okay. We might call tomorrow, okay?" He waved and hung up.

Dari waited until it was actually dark to lead Cody up to the roof. He was aware that he was risking their place being moved, destroyed, or taken by the time they got there, but their comforter was still sitting out and their cocoa was still hot in its mug. He had brought marshmallows as well, of course.
"Surprise." Except he hadn't said anything about the meteors yet.

Cody followed Dari onto the roof without hesitation, but paused when the got to the comforter. "Are we invading the roof?" He asked, curiously. Maybe stargazing?
...ooh, was that hot cocoa?

"This is where we live now," Dari teased. Then he sat down on the blanket and held his arms out for Cody. "There's a meteor shower tonight. I thought we'd watch it together."

Cody grinned at the teasing. "Well, we won't freeze," he said, sitting down next to Dari. He leaned against him. "Is there? I hadn't heard that." He smiled and kissed Dari on the cheek. "I love you," he said.
A meteor shower! Dari was so thoughtful!

"Mm-hm," Dari said. He leaned against Cody and poured them each a mug of cocoa half-sideways. He offered Cody his and then the marshmallows, then began on his own.
The first meteor of their night zipped by.

Cody took his hot cocoa happily. "Thank you, love," he took the bag of marshmallows and plopped one into his mouth. He grinned and looked up.
As the meteor passed, he was silent. He took a sip of his hot chocolate, immediately developing a marshmallow mustache. He seemed oblivious to it. "I've never seen them so bright."

Dari laughed when he looked up and saw the mustache. He sat up straighter to kiss it, licked his lips, and ran his thumb over Cody's upper lip to get the rest. Then he turned back to the sky.
"Have you ever watched a meteor shower before?"

"Now you're going to be all sticky," Cody warned, but he was smiling. "No," he admitted, "I used to try to stay up late all the time, when I was a kid. But they're always so late." He'd always mysteriously ended up back in his bed.
"Have you?"

"Of course I have," Dari said with a nod. He watched as another meteor streaked by. "It was just usually through a window or in heavy makeup."

"You never really got out much, did you?" Cody asked, softly. He didn't know much about Dari's youth, apart from the fact that the guy wasn't really that old... ""I'm glad we get to share all these things now," he said.
