misternitsua Bulbadoof misternitsua The other biggest thing I have seen for the past two generations that made both Ice and Fire types unpopular was the prevalence of Stealth Rock and both types losing 25% of their health when they switch in. I do agree that Froslass and Weavile are really good because of their niches for being a super-annoying lead and being a superb revenge killer, respectively. If it wasn't for the fact that some of the most popular Pokemon to use right now have 4x Fire weaknesses (Ferrothorn, Scizor, Genesect, Forretress), Fire would probably see little to no use outside of maybe Heatran. Also, it's not just Sandstorm, weather teams in general are really dominant right now since they introduced Dream World Politoed and Ninetales to bring in permaweather. Hail teams aren't quite as common, but I've seen people getting caught unprepared while a Glaceon spams 100% accurate Blizzards and tears them apart. I think Gen 5 made rain more OP than sand, what with the combination of ridiculously hard-hitting Swift Swimmers, and the fact that Thundurus can spam 100% accurate Thunders and Hurricanes with consistent rain support. I wouldn't know anything about the Dream World stuff. A lot of the new abilities look cool, but the new Pokemon games are just so slow - they drag on and on and on with their special effects and I fall asleep mid-battle. I don't know if I'll ever go past gen 4 unless they stop with the constant zooming in on absolutely everything you are doing oh my god this takes five times as long as it used to. Yeah, Rain Dance teams are ballin' as s**t too. I never see them, though. :C Rain Dance takes a turn to set up, though. Rain Teams use Politoed now because it got Drizzle from the Dream World, and Sun Teams use Ninetales because it got Drought as a Dream World ability. And honestly, I'm not focused enough to play Pokemon beyond a couple of Elite Four clears, though I might power through the World Tournament so I can put the whoopin' on a bunch of the old gym leaders, Elite Four members, and champions of other regions. If I wanna get my PvP on, Smogon recently switched to a browser-based simulator called Pokemon Showdown that's actually pretty nifty and doesn't require you to download stuff like Pokemon Online used to. They also keep the animations minimal to make battles go faster. That's interesting. Maybe I'll look into that. My favorite part of any Pokemon game is the Battle Frontier, though - I have well over 100 BP saved up at any given time. xd

Yeah, Rain Dance teams are ballin' as s**t too. I never see them, though. :C It took me a bit to realize it, but they cut back a lot on zooming on things, specifically the weird preemptive zooming when nothing was going to happen anyways. Anyways, my only real complaint with Ice types is that there aren't enough that would be useful in a competitive (or battle tower or whatever) setting. Also, my little brother wants to go through White 2 with a party of Tangela. He intends to create a Sunny Day team with them, and I really look forward to going through the battle subway and such things with him.

I managed to gets me Black 2. Yay.
Team:
Riolu, Lv. 18 Magnemite, Lv. 16 (make Roxie piss-easy) Genesect, Lv. 20
If I'm not careful, my entire team will be Steel-type. That would be ********' metal, but I'd have to be careful of fire. XD

I want a water-type, but I'm torn between Gyarados, Jellicent, or Vaporeon. Also, if I'm not getting Vaporeon for an Eeveelution, I'm getting Espeon. I'm actually having fun with this. This is the first time I've done a blind Pokemon game playthrough without using my starter. I should do this more often.

The starter they give you is such a crutch that when you remove it the game becomes so much more fun. biggrin Also: Jellicent is hilarious because it has so much HP and Curse Body is the funniest thing, but it can't do much other than survive. And you should totally take STARYU BECAUSE STARYU

Skaeryll Man... I hate Elesa. She seems harder in this game. I thought she was easier, but I also found out that Azumarill can take hits like a BAWS after she steamrolled the rest of my Fire-weak team with her Zebstrika.

What is so wrong with the starter? Are the gen 5 ones super bad or something?

Bulbadoof What is so wrong with the starter? Are the gen 5 ones super bad or something? I don't have a problem with any of the starters in Gen 5, but I figured this time around I'd try and make do without using one. The game gets noticeably more difficult. Also, team so far: Lucario, Lv. 24 Genesect, Lv. 24 Magnemite, Lv. 22
