Yumi's attempt at a fatal blow would connect and would do some good damage however it wouldn't exactly kill the beast. It would almost kill the coyote but not quite. Yumi frowned at the beast but would attack it yet again. Her wakizashi when it had attacked had attempted to strike the coyote's neck but missed and had hit slightly below the neck onto the back and sliced another wound open. Yumi was going to attack with her right handed wakizashi again and hopefully kill the beast.
NPC Coyote: LV. 1 Hp:4-3=1 Cp: 3
The coyote was bleedly quite well and would continue to. He stumbled a little from blood loss from Yumi's attacks. He had to protect his family and would do so at all costs. He gnarled his teeth and went to attack Yumi again.

She cut her wakizashi into the neck of the beast when it came close to Yumi. She looked satisfied when the wakizashi sliced into the beast. A slight smile came across Yumi's face. There was some injuries that she would suffer from but for the most part she was just fine. She pulled the wakizashi out of the animal's neck. Yumi looked at the dieing animal she was happy that she had made it out of the fight mostly unscathed when she saw several animals come out of the darkness of the cave. There was a female coyote and two small pups. They had come to mourn the passing of the father coyote. Yumi didn't know that he had just been protecting his family but she had to do what she had to do. It was a call of survival and there was nothing she could do about it. Yumi's wound were only dripping blood a little bit as she walked. Her wakizashi's she put back into their casing that were around her waists and headed back into Iwa.
NPC Coyote: LV. 1 Hp:0 Dead Cp: 3
The coyote's attack would miss and would open him up to a great position for an attack. The coyote stumbled for a while and then slowly laid itself down onto the ground. As it did it let out a long howl until it became quiet and laid there motionless.

Hitomi ran into view of the cave. She made sure to keep her breathing steady, because she couldn't be out of breath for what she was about to do. Her breathing rate was naturally much slower than a human's, but this could very possibly kill her if she was breathing too quickly. She was extremely efficient at taking everything out of the air. That was her downfall. Any toxins in the cave would very quickly poison her entire system, and she would die of either the gradual oxygen deprivation, the poison soaking into her blood, or of the infection that would spread directly from her respiratory sacs to her bones and her abdominal cavity... She couldn't afford to take any chances. Going into this hell-hole is taking a chance. Kon tossed her a pickaxe and a bag, containing two lamps. She broke the glass on one lamp, exposing the flame to the air, and she lit both. Taking her haori, she wrapped it around her mouth and nose to prevent any solid contaminants from entering her body, slung the bag over her shoulder, tied the closed lamp to the bag, slipped the pickaxe through a loop in the backpack, slowed her breathing and ran into the cave, holding the open lamp in front of her. She was entering the forsaken caves, running at full speed into the dark.

Hitomi soon came to a fork. <********>. She held the lamp to the right, watching the flame, and then to the left, watching the flame again. There! She set the lamp down, pulling a kunai from her pouch and scratching an arrow on the wall, to help her get back. She held the kunai as she picked the lamp back up and went down the left path. She did this at the next turn, as well, turning right. Left, Left, right, left She continued checking the flame at each intersection. Soon, the lamp began to die down. finally. She had spent too much time getting here. The caves are oddly well aerated. As she ran, she spotted a part of the wall that had been covered with a thin slab of rock, broken at the top. Someone tried to get through, but they gave up. Lucky me. She marked an arrow on the wall in front of the opening, setting the lamp down, putting the kunai back in it's pouch, and grabbing the pickaxe. She braced herself for the inevitable, and took a one-handed swing at the wall.

The slab was thinner than she thought, and the whole thing came down in pieces as the axe broke the center. She was instantly hit by the oppressive odor of stagnant air, but she forced her eyes to stay open, watching the lamp. It went out. Finally. It had been growing dimmer as the oxygen was running lower, and finally there wasn't enough to burn. She didn't have any time to wait, so she burst through the hole, pulling the other lamp from its tie on the backpack. Now the fun begins. She was still able to breathe, -for now,- on the tiny amount of oxygen in the mixed air, but there was a lot of toxin in the air. She wouldn't be able to breathe for very long. I guess the time limit was more of a life expectancy... She set the lamp in the center of the chamber, glancing at the rock on the walls. No clues. She'd be going in blind. dammit. With one hand, no less. She was glad kon was outside. This will probably end badly. Hitomi raised the axe and began hacking at the stone in the most accessible places. She couldn't waste any time being picky. What I wouldn't do for a bomb tag.

As she wedged the axe in a crack, breaking a chunk of rock off the wall, she checked the composition. Too dark. iron... She sighed, standing up and moving to the next spot, hoping to get this done quickly. Not too much time left. I might be able to sell some iron, but it's not relevant at the moment. She glanced at the starved lamp. That would happen to her if her luck didn't get any better. As she raised her axe from another strike, she realized just how futile this could prove. She set those thoughts aside for when she collapsed. Until then, she'd be positive.

Iron. She sighed, finding another outcropping. Think positive. Positive. Positive. Positive. She made sure to keep her breathing slow. She drove the axe down again, praying for aluminum. She needed aluminum. b*****d. She kept going, not noting - either out of ignorance or out of denial - that her thoughts were beginning to slow down. She was focused on two things: breathing, and checking whatever she could break off.

Mechanically, Hitomi continued. The rock was too dull. She proceeded with striking more and more stone from the walls. She absolutely needed... What? She thought for a moment, not stopping her work. Shiny... Light... Al... Alin... Alumni... Aluminum... Yeah. That's it. She wasn't watching where she swung -partially because her vision was beginning to distort- but continued pounding the stone. She needed to keep thinking. She began counting each strike of the axe. One... Two... Three...

Hitomi numbly glanced at the ore, moving on to the next section of the wall without really knowing why. Fifteen... Sixteen... Seventeen... Eighteen... She rolled along, wedging her axe into a crack and letting her weight fall on the handle, widening the crack. Nineteen... She did it again. Twenty She pulled the axe out and put it into another section of the crack, getting ready to ram into the handle to pry the stone from the wall. She couldn't remember much of why she was here... Aluminum. Navalie.

Watching the stone hit the ground, and the light hit the ore, Something in the back of Hitomi's mind clicked, and she bent down and put it in the backpack, the break in the mechanical pattern sparking a sudden moment of clarity. Four. Sixteen more... Hitomi worked on the area that she had found the last bit of ore. She had a chance of finding more. She needed to find more. She had made it through too much to be killed by something as lame as poison gas.

Hitomi closed her eyes and sighed. Iron She kept her breathing stable and hefted the axe again, working at making a new crack. If she could just get lucky a little bit more, she could go home with something more than nothing. There really wasn't much of a point in going back without the ore. Not that turning back was an idea in her mind. She'd have to go back and listen to his long speech on her inadequacies. And not to mention listening to him rub her arm in her face, talking about how "she'd be a failure as a ninja without an arm." She had gone from being discriminated against for being a working girl, to being discriminated against for being a female ninja, to being discriminated against for being a ninja with one arm. Does it ever end?

Hitomi forced herself to stay calm. At least she was lucid. That counted for something. She went the opposite direction, hoping to find that deposit of aluminum again. If she could just get some more, she'd be in the clear. just sixteen more pounds. She could get that easy if she could stop finding so much iron. She had enough iron to build a friggen puppet. She needed aluminum. If she couldn't find that deposit again, she'd just have to move on. She was working on two time limits here. One was to avoid dying due to poisoning, the other was to avoid being bored to death.

Hitomi forced herself to concentrate. She began running her eyes across the walls as she searched for anything that could help her. She couldn't see anything. Sighing, she continued to dig. If nothing else, I can sell the iron and buy aluminum. It may not fit the time requirements, but if he bugs me about that, I'll just leave, and keep it for myself. She found a promising split in the rock that she'd been working at, and began to wedge it out. Come on, aluminum. Aluminum.
