Miles Libertatis Miles walked into the park, looking down at the sheet of paper that had the name and picture of his new partner. "Ace..." he mumbled to himself as he looked back up and around at the people there. Finally he spotted a boy that looked like the one in the picture. He walked up to him, pocketing the piece of paper. "Hey, are you Ace?" He asked pleasantly.

 Ace looked at the man who asked him a question. "Yeah, I'm Ace. You Miles?" Ace asked while grinning. He'd been eagerly awaiting the day he'd meet his meister, since he'd finally get to bring tranquility to the streets of Death City.

Miles Libertatis Miles nodded. "Yes I am," he replied, extending his hand to shake. "It's a pleasure to meet you. You're a scythe, is that correct?" He asked.

"Yep." Ace said. "Care to take a spin, Miles?" He asked, ready to transform in a second if needed.

 A flash of light, and Ace became a scythe. Spinning through the air, with the eye on the scythe's hilt flashing, his reflection showed down to his neck. Ace was grinning while he fell. I wonder how our souls'll react to each other....

Miles Libertatis Miles caught Ace out of the air with one hand with a small smile. "I've had some training with scythes," he told Ace as he twirled him around until he was just a blur. He stopped quickly and held the scythe straight up before grabbing it with both hands and making some heavy swings in the air. Yes, it was coming back to him. Due to constant training, Miles's soul was fairly easy to resonate with, so he didn't feel any problems on his end. "How is it?" He asked Ace, wanting to know if he was resonating well also.

"It's, uh... different.. from how I'm used to fightin'. You see, for 10 years I've been fighting by myself, but.. someone handling me is easier than being by myself." Ace paused for breath. "You know, I can tell our souls are working well together, side-by-side like this." He said.

Miles Libertatis "Interesting," replied Miles as he listened to Ace. "Why so long by yourself?" He asked. It was unusual for a Scythe Weapon to be without a partner for very long, but Miles didn't mind. "Yes, I think we're resonating quite well."

"Oh, you see... I used to travel the world, looking for a mystical object that would answer one question, ANY question.. for 10 years, I looked. My question is..." Ace looked downwards in his reflection. "Well, I want to know how I was born. I'm certain that I don't have parents. All I know, I woke up in a cold, bright place..." Ace transformed back to human form.

Miles Libertatis Miles looked at Ace for a moment before nodding. "Was there no way to figure this out without looking for such an object?" He asked. He'd never heard of someone being born without some kind of parents, even if it were the kind that had simply created them from something.

Ace shook his head. "No.. possible.. way. For a moment, I had the thing. While I was busy basking in my glory... an otherworldly threat.. practically obliterated me. I.. I somehow regenerated, and after that my chest was throbbing. A second later, a.. scythe came out of my chest. Either the threat gave me my powers, or in that second I realized my powers. But... I eventually came across Death City, joined the DWMA, now I'm trying to find a place to live."

Miles Libertatis "I suppose one shouldn't be surprised that something so powerful would be after an item of such power," Miles replied, wondering what kind of being Ace could be referring to. "Well, either way you gained your Weapon powers so there was some benefit to it after all. Are you still looking for the item?" He asked curiously.

"No.. not after what happened last time. You see, a companion I held very dear to myself was killed... by.. me." Ace looked away. "She stood in front of me while my chest was hurting, and.. the scythe blade, it hit her."

Miles Libertatis "I see," replied Miles solemnly. "I am sorry to hear that." He'd heard of accidents between Weapons and Meisters of course. It was part of the hazard of the job. It was rare but still happened. "We all make our own mistakes," he told him after a few moments of silence.
