Lucas walked over to Bast at her beckoning and nodded to her request.
"may i first inquire as to the purpose for this request? i have no disagreements to it but simply to satisfy my curiosity may i be told the reasoning?"
he questioned. he hated not knowing things and strove to understand what he didn't know better. usually he focussed on a subject and stayed to it however working for the village had him less focussed than normal.

"You need to play a more active part in fights. Being what is essentially a non-entity in a fight makes it difficult for others to plan around your actions, and could possibly render your unique set of skills useless when they're needed," Bast responded coolly, ignoring the conversation about her veins and silently swearing to rip out the eyeballs of anyone who would try to see through her clothes. "Naturally, you can do whatever you want when you're on a smaller team, but this one is too large for such actions. If everything's fine, please join one of the teams of two, since we have an odd number of people. After you do that, we'll be on our way."

"Bast-sensei, you think its about time we started explaining whats going on, now that everyone is here?" Howaido wasnt in any rush, but if everyone was here they should go ahead and set the objectives and move out.

Bast nodded at Howaido, and then cleared her throat noisily.
"Everyone, gather round! It's time for the mission briefing," she ordered. "We're going after the power source for the automatons. We're heading to the third metropolis to check in there, and then we're heading out toward the source. Your partners on this mission are who you will stay with throughout the entirety of the mission. If we are separated, stay with your partner; if your partner is lost, it is your duty to find and recover your partner. Howaido and I will take up the rear while going to the metropolis, Manfread and Akane will be up front, and Alvard and Zane will be in the middle. Lucas, you'll be with whichever group you can get in to. There will be another briefing when we arrive. Any questions?"

Howaido turned to Bast and slightly raised his hand,"Just one sensei. I understand travel formation is protocol, but are we expecting an attack before we get there in heavy numbers?" Howaido wasnt being silly or dumb by asking and Bast would realize this, he was simply trying to adjust the mind sets of the gennin and chuunin abound. This was not a game or a test, it would be life or death and one ******** up could easily be both you and your partners last move.

Bast shook her head.
"No, but this arrangement will afford us with better mobility and increases our survival chances in case of sudden attack or a catastrophe." Bast took a swig from her flask. "Judging by the reports from last time, we do not know whether the automatons will already be there by the time we arrive, nor do we know if the third metropolis is secure."

“Front line sweet!” Manfread said striking a pose, “this is going to be fun. Come on Akane we're leading.”
He activated his doujutsu and Manfread took the lead, he trusted Akane to have his back and his byakugan should be able to detect any surprises that maybe waiting, so he had no problem of going first.

"A-Aye ma'am..." Al said loudly to Bast, then added softly to Zane "Don't worry buddy. I've got your back. You lead, I'll follow." Whistling softly, he put his hand to his belt, and checked over all of his equipment. He wanted to make sure he had everything.

Manfread suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to look at everyone else. There was a very serious expression on his face.
“One last question,” he said in a serious tone pointing in the opposite direction of the port he asked, “That way right?

"Well then, I guess its best we get moving if everyone is ready, ne?" Howaido pulled on his Oinin mask as he made three seals and clapped his hands together,"Kuchiyose no Jutsu." Out of the smoke a large scroll appeared, within its contents were Howaidos things. He pressed his palm onto the center square as his arm guards and gloves and etc came out. He put all of his things on as his swords arrived out of the scroll. The scroll banished and he strapped on his weapons strategically, both katanas on either side of his waist, his tanto on the back of his waist and his massive cleaver across his back. To most of the gennin it probably looked like Howaido would be going 2 miles in 3 days, but in reality he could go 10 miles in 1 second if he had to. "Atcha, Im all ready to go."

Bast shook her head at Manfread, and pointed south, toward the port city. As soon as Howaido was ready, she motioned for the troupe to start leaving. Noting that Lucas still didn't have a partner, Bast decided to solve this problem.
"Alvard, Zane, Lucas is with you. If we get in a scrape, he'll be able to protect you rather well," she stated, resting her right hand on the hilt of her needle, March. "I suggest moving out!"

Manfread shifted his own massive sword that was strapped to his back as he walked, then checked the two kunai satchels which divided his stash in half. The non-explosive tagged ones were on his left arm while the ones already equipped with tags were situated on his lower back. He adjusted his bladed bracers and made sure they were snug against his arms.
Heading out towards the desert still going in the right direction, he suddenly wriggled like a worm as a chill ran down his spine.
“The willies!” he muttered to himself, “I have a baaad feeling something I hate is going to happen... Naaa, what could possibly go wrong?”

Akane grinned at Manfread "Don't worry I won't." He then heard Bast briefing, so they would be going to Port City, to protect, destroy, and find... All of these Akane could do easily. So Akane was in the front? Good, That would mean that everyone would just have to keep up with the speeding legend. He looked at Manfread as he asked him to come on, Akane chuckled, he had no questions... But he did wonder... Why the automatons took so long.
When they began to move, Akanes grin went wide showing his teeth, he looked over to see Howaido packing an arsenal of weapons. Hell, he was a Sannin now for a reason. He looked at Manfread as he pointed in the opposite direction, Akane blinked once and looked down a bit giving a small chuckle. He helped out his teammate by grabbing his hand lightly by the wrist and pointing it in the direction of the Port City "That way, heheh" He said with a chuckle.

Moving in the order of their formation Howaido headed out with the rest of them. They were headed for the port city and from there, who knew what would happen.
