Indeed. He harnessed it to travel to Earth and show off his moves to Siegfried. How else do you think Siegfried got so awesome at fighting? Soul Edge? History of combat? Heck no! It was Lloyd, I tell you!
Lloyd didn't need the Eternal Ring, he has inherent awesomeness. Kratos, in his modesty, decided to not hog the spotlight, letting Zelos have a turn.
Judging by their sounds, the elevators are fueled by bats. By that, I mean their souls. Muahaha.
