(i'm wanting to know why you need an air strike to take out half a dozen jeeps with a single chain gun mounted onto it? wouldn't a single destroid be all thats needed? sure mabe it can't fly but I bet that repair costs, if it takes any damage which a genade or a chain gun of that calibuir is mostlikely not going to do anything but scratch the paint on it, will be a hole lot less then if a veritech gets damaged.

I so want to get into the rp, I so want to get into combat with mr. lightning ball.
I mean you had one chance before to kill him instead you punched him while you had a gun in your hand. sweatdrop
sorry in a crazy mood right now.. need sleep!!!!

but if he controls electricty then he can potentaly make a magnetic field around him self makeing explosives become duds and make any and all metal bullets veer around him (like the one boss in metal gear solid 2).

Why? Because sending infantry is stupid against harder targets like that. Destriods are slower, because they're land walkers. It might take something like 15 minutes for a Destriod to arrive on a scene, while it takes 15 seconds for a VF to be airborn and over the target...

And so far, the only things on the scene is one marine, who is TOAST, literally, at this point. And one other armed only with a rifle.

Oh, and they're pinned down by machine gun fire. And about to get blown to smithereens. wink

Rachele will be on her way to aid the situation at Port de Gambino in my next post, and yes, veritech fighters are a bit overkill when dealing with jeeps with machine guns.

Vic Voltage is still in the air above the ocean surrounding Gambino Island. While it is theoretically possible to manipulate magnetism with electrical powers, so far, he hasn't shown any ability to: just the ability to blast it out at range, siphon it out, and make basic shapes like spheres with them....and of course...stand on them.

One thing long time GNGers may have forgotten: You can NPC control the 'boring' positions, if there is no one around who normally controls such things. For example, if the Captain of your squadron hasn't posted in a while, you are certainly fine posting that you got approval. For another example, you can NPC your own takeoffs and landings approvals with ASDF Control Tower. Maybe this is why we have a bit of a bottleneck. Dunno. Anywho...post.

Indrid Cold: Good to have you back. There is certainly a problem the GNG is dealing with that could use another RPer. If you're still alive and kickin' as you say, you should make up an excuse to be at Port de Gambino. I don't remember what equipment you had, or even if you were in the Gaian Army or another branch...but as long as you're not posting in a Gundam or something else superpowerful, get in there. >.>

I'll probably be off to bed in a moment here...

Guess that means Mister Kupo gets about another 20 hours or so to make a post. wink

actualy even a single destroid is over kill but this incures less damages and if a VF fires its gatling gun its going to blow half the pavement away were as a destroid can just grab the jeep without worrying about damageing property or takeing damage,
and not all destroids are slow. heavy armerments one yes but the MBR-07-Mk.II Destroid Spartan is heavily armored, moved decently fast, and can most likely move around in the streets.

the best method is to send some armored troops carriers in and just take them down but lets go with the option that will give us the most surviving inocent people and the less damage.

Actually, even the fastest destriods were only clocked at about 40-50 MPH...

Compared to the relative cruising speeds of a VF rating at about 600 MPH...

Yeah.

Also, everything you say about a Destriod applies to a VF. A veritech is the same size as a Destriod, and while some Destriods don't have 'hands', all Veritechs do. And with the head lasers they have surgical strike capability as well. Where as a system like the Spartan, which is all Missile Based, really isn't prescion anything.

Fastest still would just to put a call into one of the GN ships, and have them lob some high explosive shells over there. But again, that has its own problems, like range finding.

A destriod will never be as fast as a Cyclone or Veritech. Which is why for the most part you don't see Destroids in the more "Mobile" war of the New Generation. wink Not saying they don't have their uses. Just about nothing beats a Raider-X for point defense, or a MAC II or III for mobile artillery... just that it's not the right answer, for the situation.

And no, a troop transport probably isn't either. A 50 cal could just tear them up as they exit. I mean, there's a reason why doorways are called "Vertical Coffins". Same sorta issue with a troop carrier. Just pound the hell out of them and kill everything as it comes off. Hel, the only reason troop landers worked for say, Normandy, is because there were too many of them for the nazi defenders to cover...

Theoretically, the ASDF could field a VB-6 Mothra Monster (Variable MAC-II). Biggest destroid on the field in seconds. I don't think we need such a thing in this scenario, right? *archs eyebrow*

GN Ships... *grin* closest would be the Edana wouldn't it?

yes lets send in the slowest destroid that could level half the city in a minute....

actualy the spartan is iether missile or rocket based. its other weapon is a mace and it is the only destroid with hands that i find listed in the original first war.
it was used as crowd control against full sized zentradi since its thick armor made it very dificult to rip apart, its stregth was equal to the zentradi's.

destroids were basicly replaced by the hover tanks in the second war.

a destroids job was suposted to be a mobile turret not a full military force.

Slowest?

VB-6 Stat Block
FLYING, FIGHTER CONFIGURATION:
Max level speed : 700 kph at sea level (Mach 0.7), 1700 kph at 10000m (Mach 1.7), 3200 kph at 30000M (Mach 3.2)
Stall speed : 250 kph (VTOL rectification possible)
Service ceiling : 35 km (unboosted). VA-6 can achieve orbit over an Earth type planet without additional boosters

In case you still don't get it, look at this picture.

...but anyways, you missed my sarcasm. Reread that third sentence you quoted.

Why are you arguing Spartan still? There have been lots of GOOD reasons why we don't field them in this particular case that have been explained to you in the last few posts.

And yes, I do know my mecha stats. I was Head Admin on two Robotech-themed MUSHes, and staff on a third.
