VERSE 1
This is Settlers, I'll explain
Here's 19 hexes of terrain
They make a resource you want to gain
Ten Victory Points to win the game
There are five terrain types but the desert gives nothin'
Forest - lumber, pastures - sheep, who wants mutton?
Hills - brick, fields - grain, mountains - ore, not complex
Place settlements on a hex vertex
PRE-CHORUS
The productive terrains are labelled from 12 to 2
You won't find 7 but you'll find out later what to do
And when a hex's number's rolled, a resource you will get
But only if you've built on it a settlement
(Look at all my sheep!)
CHORUS
And on your turn first roll the dice
And every player who can harvest (harvest!)
You may build and and you may buy
Only one card you may play
And you should trade (trade!) trade (trade!)
VERSE 2
Got a card shows the cost of what you can build
Road, settlement and upgrade if you fulfill
Development card, you can buy three types
Points cards, progress cards, cards that are knights
Roads go on hex edges but settlements are tricky
Placed two roads away from other settlements and cities
Only build off your roads and you should expand
Else your opponents will take up the land
PRE-CHORUS
After rolling you can trade cards but not like for like
And not development cards, keep those hidden out of sight
If you have four of the same cards, to the bank you can trade
Try to build on a harbour, you get a better exchange rate
(You can trade in sheep!)
CHORUS
VERSE 3
Roll a 7 it is awful, it is crass
All with eight or more cards, discard down to half
Odd numbers round down, return cards to their decks
Then you move the robber to another hex
You get a random steal, a resource from another
With a settlement or city that is sitting by the robber
Keep their cards face down but how many is known
No harvest this turn, it continues as was shown
PRE-CHORUS
Before you roll the dice, you may play the knight
It acts like rolling 7: move the robber, steal with spite
A bonus to playing many, you need at least three
Get a couple of points if you secure Largest Army
BRIDGE
Settlements are a point
Upgrade to cities two you're owed
You get two points for Largest Army
Another two for Longest Road
Development cards have Victory Points
Only show when you have won
Whoever reaches ten points first
Instantly the game is done
CHORUS
(Why do I have so much sheep?)
