"Right." Malik agreed, getting slightly annoyed that Jou hadn't taken any hint whatsoever.
"So... how have you been? How is your sister doing and how are your friends?"

Jounouchi smiled slightly. "Well, My sister's actually living in America now. As for my friends, everybody has kind of been busy with their own things so I haven't seen them in a while." He murmured, shrugging lightly.

Malik thought this was a bit odd. Jou and his friends had always seemed like such a tight-knit group.
It was almost sad to hear the little pack had seemed to drift apart. "Really? I always thought you guys were close... and why did Shizuka move to America?"
He couldn't really understand why he felt sorry for the blond, but he did none the less. Maybe because he sounded a bit lonley.

"Mom moved there and since Shizuka's still in High school, she had to go too." He murmured, smiling a little sadly. "As for my friends, Ryou's in college, Anzu has her own dance studio, Yugi and Yami have gone on a road trip around Japan, and Honda and I have both been working our tails off to make ends meet. I understand that they're busy and we meet up occasionally but I..." He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I guess I really miss them."
((Awww... Poor Jou. :O We should all try to play some of the other characters I think))

"I'm sorry to hear that, Jounouchi." Malik could relate to the feeling of loneliness all too well, since it was basically the story of his life.
Despite the level of empathy he felt for Jou, he could feel a tinge of jealousy burning in a small corner of his heart. After all, at least Jou knew the feeling of having friends... being loved and cared about, a feeling Malik could barley recognize. Sure, Isis and Rishid cared for him, and the feelings were mutual enough.. but he had no idea about what it was like to have someone love him, just for him and only him. Not for his looks, not because he was family, or the past linked them. Just because...
"Why don't you visit them or something...?" Malik inquired, taking a sip of his coffee. He gave a thankful smile that the steaming liquid didn't burn his tongue this time.

I always thought one should practice what they preach.” Malik lowered his head to look the other in the eyes with his cold lavender irises, “If they are your friends, you should call them. If you could only comprehend what it’s like to be all alone in this cold, cruel world, then perhaps you’d realize friends are all to precious to just let go.”
