"I won't," Lin smiled as she nibbled again around the edges like she was saving the middle for last.
It was interesting as it was like watching the sandwich melt as she worked away at it. Lin was quite happy to be eating like this as she walked over to her cup and took a drink out of it.

Aliya shrugged at the twins. "We can if you want to," she told them, "but I usually just go straight home and eat with Mum and Ada. Elrohir and Haradhel don't expect me ... but your father might, even if it's just to let him know you're leaving the ranch again ... perhaps you should let him know, then."
It was after all up to them.

Elrohir took a seat as he waited for Lin to finish eating and glanced up at Donovan.
"So, a full day here," he nodded. "What do you think about the place? Was it what you had in mind?"

"Probably, if he is leaving in the morning, he might want to tell us something," Ryu replied thoughtfully, "You know.. marching orders and all that."
Since he didn't know fully what Donovan had in mind and they hadn't expected him to leave right the next day.

Donovan thought about it, yes it had everything he had expected and much more. Since something on this large of a scale he had never planned before.
"Yes," he finally answered, "And much more, since I didn't have a full idea of what was gong to happen when I started this."

"From what I understand," Elrohir replied thoughtfully, "Ulrich and Ulani have had some sort of experience with taking in children who have been orphaned unexpectedly, and they've been breeding horses for a few hundred years, and did before they left the Four Lands in the first place. From that, with the attacks they had before the Ranch was started, I think they more or less knew what would be needed, not only for survival, but for the children."
He himself was a bit wary of the first children that would be (hopefully) arriving with Donovan's return. He had no experience taking care of children, and neither did Haradhel, though they were already expecting one of their own.

"Right then," Aliya grinned. "To the house." And she started off in that direction, wondering if anyone would even still be awake.
She couldn't help but wonder what Ryu meant by marching orders though ... he made it sound as if they were in the army or something.

The two twins hurried on to the Ranch house, since it was already dark and they didn't want to delay Aliya's time going any further. It would be Feng that would go bounding up the stairs like a bunny.

"Ah... that would explain a lot," Donovan murmured as he watched Lin finished off the last of her sandwich and was trying to drink the cup try.
Even an egg cup was kind of big for her, like one of those huge espresso cups a person got for the caffinee addicts.

Elrohir nodded. "Well, we'll see exactly how well all of it works out once there are actually some children here to take care of," he commented with a shrug. "After all, that really is the biggest test, isn't it?"
So much preparation for such a goal ...

Aliya started to follow Feng up the stairs, but she stopped on the second step, her ears buzzing slightly.
"I think he's down in the kitchen," she called up after Feng softly, so that she wouldn't wake anyone who was sleeping. "Come on, this way."
And she beckoned for the mermaid to follow her back down the stairs and in the opposite direction.

"Oh?" Ryu raised a brow, he tilted his head, but he it was so soft that he couldn't hear.
He followed Aliay anyhow, tugging Feng to come down with him. They only had human hearing after all, it was their touch that was different the result of being mers he suppoed.
Feng followed closely, it only was until they got closer to the kitchen that she could hear.

Donovan nodded, "And that... is something we're going to have to find out then."
He looked down to see Lin grinned up at him with her arms held out high, chuckling he picked her up and cradled her. Now that Lin was fed and watered, she would probably rest until the sun hit in which she would be up doing who knows what.

Elrohir nodded soberly. It would indeed be a test ... though he was starting to wonder if they might have to hire another fighter or two to take the children back to their homes, otherwise they would be short here at the ranch.
Well, that was business for another day.
"Off to bed, then," he murmured, and, holding up one hand and pointing his palm towards the fireplace, he closed his fist, and the fire went out. He started towards the door. "Come on."

Aliya saw the light disappear from the crack below the door that led to the kitchen and realized that whoever was in there was getting ready to leave. Fortunately, she didn't have to worry about being hit with the door when it opened - it opened into the kitchen.
"Donovan!" she called out softly, placing one hand on the door and pushing it open gently. It had been his voice that she had heard, and Elrohir's, but Donovan was the one that Feng and Ryu were looking for.
