Kimiko kept driving herself, just one hand in front of the other, she'd already come a good distance up the tree and she was showing no signs of stopping, still, her spirit would not abait till she'd conquered this exercise. What trainer could deny her once she was the strongest among the Academy class? She dug her hands into the tree, pulling her self upward. In a way, she felt she was climbing some insurmountable slope, nothing but her will keeping her from falling to her death on the jagged rocks below...in reality there was a great deal of soft grass below, but that didn't mean she would let herself remember that. It was just like her father taught her when she was younger, when it was just martial arts and not "Killing people." Keep your mind inside your circle...until you or your master says so, there is nothing outside of it... nothing. Right now Kimiko was inside her circle, the tree that lay between her and the sky was inside it... nothing was beyond...
Roll:8+3=11 DC:10 Train:2/6
Xenon's fingers continued to dart about in the one manned match, dashing x's left and right. His mind was still on his prospective jutsu. After he was done training today, he was going to hit the library, surely they would have something in the vast stores of knowledge contained there about a suitable jutsu. He was sure of course that it would have to be a D-rank, but that was how it worked, one had to start at the bottom before one made their way to the top. He continued to work at his task, once he was finished, he was going to try some dexterity training exercises, then head to the library... he could feel a sleeping power awakening within him... but apparently it needed more time...

Kimiko was smiling now, elating her spirit as the top came closer and closer. She felt herself burning with power as she forged her way up the impossibly steep incline, she'd almost forgotten it was just a tree in the Training grounds, almost forgotten that this was just a self appointed exercise. To her at that moment this was an epic moment, one that might as well have defined the battle between good and evil. She persevered through anyh weariness she might have been feeling, any fatigue that may have gripped her. She was, in this moment, unstoppable...
Roll:3+4=7 DC:10 Train:2/10
Xen's fingers slipped. the x missing it's mark...but there was a reason for this. He suddenly felt alert, suddenly felt...stronger... he looked up across the training field... he was awakened now, the sleeping power building in him since last night awake. He flexed all his fingers testily as was a habit of his. He blinked, then pushed up his glasses. He was going to finish this exercise, then, he was going to change his schedule a bit...this power wasn't yet enough...he wasn't satisfied, before he learned his first Genjutsu, he wanted to be stronger...

Kimiko's eyes dilated... she reached forward, her weight on her left hand...and it slipped. She skidded down a few feet before her feet too gave away and she fell. Her face suddenly filled with fight she spun about and with her arms and legs managed to break her fall. Still, she had fallen for some distance and her arms were now feeling the abuse. Her knees were slightly skinned and she got her feet slowly, but clearly the fire in her eyes seemed only fed by the winds of adversity... as she clung back to the tree, she tried again...

Xenon's mind back on track he was once more succeeding in his mental trial. But now he was at odds. What to do...what to do first. He needed to become stronger he was sure, but what path to take to achieve said goal... he hesitated, his eyes darting back and forth in thought rather than paying attention to the string. 'I probably should work on fully mastering my "Secret weapon." As childish as it may seem, it IS a d-rank jutsu. I've pretty much got it worked out, all I need to do is master it's twists and turns...' he then rolled his eye to the other side. "But also there's something else I'm sure I'm ready for..." he continued to lace the string 'Though I've no doubt it will take much longer, I'm sure that have the chakra control required to master Kai:release..." He looked up slightly, toward the sky. 'Right now I can break Genjutsu with willpower and expertise, along with a primitive understanding of the technique...but I've yet to truly Master Kai: Release...it to is a D-rank Jutsu... if I were to master them both...'

The pain was already gone, despite the blood still trickling from the wounds she'd received her mind shut out any trace of pain. The sheer veracity of her determination alone seemed to be enough to over shadow this tree. She was pursuing relentlessly it's pinnacle, like for all the world it was her only salvation. She was covering the distance far faster this time around, it was like her wounds had made her stronger as opposed to weaker... nothing but success seemed likely to stop her... 'Got to keep going, got to keep moving, no one's going to stop me, I'm a champion of Love and Justice! Believe it! Heh heh.' she smirked as she continued to climb...
Roll:18+4=22 DC:10 Train:4/6
Xenon's fingers laced about the game like he had before, with ease. He realized he should probably take the option openly available to him training his Taijutsu, his greatest weakness. He'd already proved that despite his anti-affinity with it, it could be useful to him, particularly when combined with stealth and psychological intimidation... that and a dark night. If he was honest, his fight with the boy last night would not have been so one sided had he not out played the fool... it was his wit that had won that battle, not his power. That had to change. His mind would always be his sharpest weapon, but his power had to close the gap. He snatched another x.

Kimiko was now even higher than she was before, her knowledge of the trees nooks and foot holds increasing. She was going by strength, pulling her self up... she reached up to grab a branch to take brief respite... when... her eyes caught on a branch right next to the one she was reaching for... "You!" she accused pointing...this it turned out was a mistake, because she fell a ways, skinning her elbows to halt her descent. She scrambled back up to where she'd been, clambering up onto the branch. "Mabo...roshi..." she panted trying to look composed.
Xenon blinked from his cross legged position from the branch next to her. "Miss Momoe...fate seems to have tied us at the heel today." he was darting his fingers about in his game, his lenses flashing over in some amusement. "Climbing trees today are we?"
His smug attitude made her all the more angry "What are you doing up here?!" she demanded.
Xenon seemed confused "Hm? Playing a game of cat's-"
She shook her head annoyed "You know what I mean, how'd you get up here!?" She herself was twice as strong as him she was certain, yet while she looked ragged and tired, he looked entirely unruffled and unmarked. There wasn't some sign of a grappling hook..."
Xenon smiled understanding her meaning "Oh, that..." He stood from his position without breaking his game. He then, facing her, took a step off the branch.
For a moment she actually reached to catch him, her eyes going surprised, but then they turned to confused, then back to surprised.
Xenon was standing sideways on the branch, apparently unaffected by gravity. He walked onto the trunk, up and down it, then back onto his branch, where he resumed his seated position. "Chakra control, I can walk up tree's like this with ease..." he smirked acting oblivious "Oh...you mean you can't do that Momoe-san?
Kimiko nearly fell out of the tree again.

Kimiko pointed at him angrily "Arrrgh, so you can do some fancy tricks, bad guys always have the cooler moves, but in the end the heroes always win because we have the fires of passion and love, of courage and justice! And-"
Xenon was wrapping up his game of cat's cradle "I must say," he remarked with a sly grin "Your naivete is refreshing."
She pointed at him indignant "I'll show you! You say you need chakra to climb this tree, I'll show you the power of a hero! I'll do it without chakra!"
Xenon raised an eyebrow "I never said-"
But Kimiko didn't seem to be listening to him any more, she tackled the tree, her "blazing soul" in full gear. In her anger however she only managed to get a little ways up the tree before sliding back down unto her branch.
Xenon was putting away his string, his free hand pushing up his glasses "Truly your skills are a marvel, I count myself impressed and a fool for ever doubting you."
She gave him an eye "Shut up! I'm just getting warmed up!"
Xenon chuckled pleasantly "You don't need to be so touchy Momoe-san," he gave her the peace sign "I'm rooting for you." With that he leapt down, catching himself with chakra along the trunk and running down the rest of the way.
+1 to all rolls for duration of excercise for academy student encouragement.
Kimiko looked unsure of how to react for moment her face going slightly pink before her burning eyes filled with fire again "He's taunting me..." she looked back to the tree her thoughts more serious. 'There are Genin who can't control their chakra like that...' she furrowed her brow 'Darn it, I've gotta pick up the pace, I'll never forgive myself if that jerk becomes a Genin before me... I have to work harder...

She slid back to the branch and looked up with a panting face. "There's...no way..." she grabbed the tree once more. "That I'm..."
"Hey! I'm Kimiko Momoe! It's nice to meet you."
Maboroshi turned his eyes to her coldly. "Hmph... what are you so cheerful about?"
Kimiko crossed her arms, rolling her eyes as though it was obvious "Duh! A person doesn't need a reason to be happy."
The silver haired youth chuckled condescendingly at her. "I suppose not." he said appeasingly.
"GOING to GIVE UP!!" She forced herself back up, climbing the tree yet again.

Xenon frowned shaking his head. No, his execution was all wrong, he wasn't going to get any where like this. He readjusted his stance. He wasn't an expert at Taijutsu, truth be told he was atrocious at it, but truth also be told he was already a damn near genius, he could work this out given the time, but he wanted spend as little time as possible. He wanted to finish this today, then move on to the Genjutsu Release tomorrow... He slid his foot back an inch, redistributing his weight. He wasn't the type to let this weakness stand, and he'd said that before... he'd master this jutsu no matter the cost...

Kimiko was starting to feel he injuries, she wasn't going to deny it, it was, whether she liked it or not, in her circle...still, she would deal with that... she could ignore pain, it was just a physical thing, what really drove her, what lifted her up, wasn't this beaten body of hers, it was her will to keep going...her will to overcome all...
"Hey! What's that for!?"Kimiko put her hands on her hips in the face of her class partners laughter. All she'd been talking about what her favorite things...love and justice of course.
Maboroshi was laughing, he looked at her with a over whelmed expression, his laugh beyond his control "How can you really be so stupid!?"
Kimiko went red her cheeks puffing out in anger "What! Hey say that to my face punk!" she said seizing his collar. But Maboroshi didn't even pay this any mind, he just kept laughing as though this was genuinely funny. Kimiko looked ready to boil over "Arrrgh That's it! From now on your my arch nemesis!"
Maboroshi's face changed suddenly, startling her as it went into a pleased grin. "Your nemesis hm?" he snickered "Sounds like fun."
"Hey! You two, taijutsu pratice is next period, save it till then!"
Kimiko pushed on...

Xenon smirked, pleased with this performance. His opponent, a rock, didn't particularly have any weak points, but it was the principle of the technique that really counted, to zero in on a single point, then, with perfect accuracy, hit that point using their fingers. All in all it was probably one of the more ridiculous jutsus, being not only phallic in nature, but also perverted. Still, what worked worked, and this jutsu was effective for it's purpose, to hit the enemies blind spot. He blinked. Still...he'd probably avoid using it on a male again wherever possible. He chuckled.

Kimiko was more than half way up the massive tree, she had not intention letting herself succumb to the voice in her wounds telling her to stop. Even if one of her arms fell off, so long as she was still conscious, she'd reach the top of this tree. She tried to wash everything else away...trying to clear her mind and return it to her circle...but for some reason... that STUPID JERK KEPT PISSING HER OFF!! She seemed increase her speed.
'Stupid Maboroshi thinks he's so cool! I'll make him truly fear the power of a hero!' in her mind she struck a heroic pose "He will truly know the undeniable might of a champion of the soul!!" With that her pace was now two fold...
Roll:18 DC:10 Train:2/10
Again, another success. The way he was testing himself was basic, but effective. Xen had marked a single point on the rock in the center of the clearing. Keeping to bushes, trying to act stealthy for simulations sake, he was springing from concealment, his fingers poised to strike. So far he was pleased with his progress, but he also intended to keep going ahead with increasing the difficulty, he was going to slowly move up, finally using a moving target. He smiled manically for amusements sake, then fell serious again, fading into the brush and focusing on his next attempt...

Kimiko stopped, just for a moment, to catch her breath, then, with not even a whole minute in between, she started again. Like her father said, if you keep taking breaks you'll just get more tired. She could rest when she stood at the top of this tree... tree, mountain, tower, it didn't matter anymore, what she was really climbing now, was her own weakness, her own feeling she might fall behind... she wasn't going to let it overshadow her...she was going to conquer it, to stand atop it like a champion... no matter what...
Roll:19 DC:10 Train:3/10
Another perfect mark... yes... Xenon was nodding as he backed into the trees yet again. He would adjust his speed now, give himself less time to aim and adapt...less time to think, he'd have to act faster, have to track the target more efficiently... He removed his coat, hanging it upon a branch as he stalked his immobile prey... His golden eyes narrowing as he planned out yet another move... he would master this move... he'd already shown he was at least proficient...it was just a hop skip and a jump from here...

Her vision wavered there for minute...she was probably over exerting herself, but she smirked, she liked the challenge. She wasn't expecting her journey to be easy, she knew she'd have to work for it...knew she'd have to claw and scrape, but she also knew the winds of fate would fill the sails of the one who sought them...you had to seize your own destiny if you wanted one...and Kimiko Momoe was never going to be content till her star hung in the heavens along side her heroes... this height she had to climb, this silly little foot stool, was just so she could get a better view of future relestate. She laughed at her own joke, then dug her tired fingers into the next hand hold and pulled up...
Roll:17 DC:10 Train:4/10
The strike was nailed right to the mark, another perfect hit... he stood and sprung back, intent on increasing his pace as he began to circle, still as silently as he could...
He was soon, after his jutsu training was complete, going to be focusing on his speed, he was not content to have his mind and Genjutsu proficiencies be his only advantage. Still, everything in it's time. He once more focused his mind on the target, running faster... building speed. His eyes flashed behind his glasses as he entered the light...

Her back stung. She'd landed on a branch far below... Her eyes were wide and slowly closing. She fought off unconsciousness as long as she could, she'd been so close...she couldn't lose now...she couldn't stop now...no matter what...she couldn't...stop...now... her eyes closed themselves for her, her strength departing her as she fell into the black abyss of sleep. Her body was forcing her to rest...not give up...but rest. For now...
In her sleep she muttered something... somthing that was barely above a whisper "Don't...think this means...you've won..."

Xenon blinked. His gaze was tracked to his fingers, they'd hit the stone sure enough...but they were a whole three inches off. 'Unacceptable...' he pondered straightening. He turned and headed back into the trees, he wouldn't slow down, true this new level of speed might take some getting used to... but he would in time, and that was all the reason he needed to keep at it. He was circling yet again. For some odd reason, his thoughts shifted to Momoe-san, he blinked as though that might clear his mind. She'd been training hard too it would seem... but then, it didn't really matter to him did it? She was just another foolish hero wanna be not yet aquainted with the way the world worked...then again, she certainly was amusing. He laughed as made his next strike...

Kimiko slept away, dreaming of faraway places and fights that rocked the very world. She could feel the pull of her dreams, the call of them They were the wind that fed her fire, the star on her horizon. Even in her dreams they consumed her, wrapped around her and told her the truths she took to be self evident. Good would always triumph over evil, Power and money, money and power, meant nothing, and that justice and effort meant everything...and most importantly...that this world was in fact made of ...PEACE!!! AND LOVE!!!

He slowly stepped back into the shadows, intent to try this a few more times before upping the anti. He let his legs carry him faster... faster... his eyes narrowed as a tunnel vision grew between him and his target... the course for the blow was plotting out in his mind, his smirk still in place as he rounded the clearing and made to strike...

Kimiko's father lifted up the photo with a warm smile on his face. The picture was of he, his wife, and little Kimiko at a festival when she was just five years old. They'd gotten her from the orphanage very young, and they even wondered if she remembered the time before she lived with them...but they didn't want to ask her... she was always so happy, bringing up something like that would only bring down her mood.
He was still looking at the photo. Kimiko was riding on his shoulders, her fist full of cotton candy as he fought through he fidgetting to point the camera at himself. The smile on her face was worth more money than the world had to offer...more gold than even the richest of the lords possessed... she was his little girl...
"Did you really think she'd stay that small forever?" He looked up as his wife entered the room with a tray of tea.
He smiled "It's a father's right to dream isn't it?"

Xenon drew back weaving, trying to keep moving, he'd made another successful execution and now intended to keep up his streak. This was becoming easier and easier, but he had to keep raising the bar, if he let himself be satisfied before he reached full mastery he'd be stuck with a tainted jutsu...and those could get you killed in the wrong moment. He jumped back into the trees and for yet another time swept about in a circular motion, his fingers at the ready. He was certain he'd need to make this more challenging soon... but a few more tries on an immobile target wouldn't hurt. He was nearing his mark, he swept from the trees, springing forth toward his unfortunate victim...

"Satoshi..." his wife said setting the tray down. "I knew this day would come the minute she started sparring with you...can you really say that you didn't?"
Kimiko's father sighed with reluctant smile "I knew it as well...I just...didn't think it would go by so fast...my own years in the academy seemed to take so long...but she's already set her eyes on becoming a Genin..."
His wife sat beside him "It's a little different from this side of the fence isn't it?"
He laughed "Indeed..." he set the photo down. he stood and struck a heroic pose "But a true man must know when it is time for his baby bird to leave the nest! Let our fine parenting skill guide her on the path to glory!"
His wife sighed a sweat drop forming over her head, an exasperated smile in place. "It's a wonder she came out even remotely normal..."

Kimiko sprang up, leaping unto her feet shouting the words "YOUTH!!" she stopped then blinked her eyes innocent for a moment, then she looked back up at the height she had to surmount. "Oh that's right..." she said neutrally. She then sprung to life with fire in her eyes once more "Cretoness tree, you shall fall before the glory of my blazing spirit yet! HA!" she sprung back towards the tree.

"HA!" As Xen struck the rock was broken still further, letting loose a resounding crack. Xenon backed away for a final time, turning around and pushing up his glasses. The wind attempted to shift his hair as, in a cool moment, the rock fell in half behind him.
"Aces..." he muttered to himself. He looked up and considered the lay of the clearing, assessing how to go about the final phase of his Jutsu training... his eyes dashed from left to right... yes...that would do fine...
