Meta_Fish Oh, get over it. Ness is basically still in Brawl. Just act like he died his hair blonde and took off his hat. Jesus. His name is different, his yo-yo and bat are gone, and I DON'T SEE A BACKPACK! *runs off and is emo in a corner*

No, Lucas is in Brawl. Two different entities with similar powers and fighting style.
That's like saying "Well, Metaknight's basically in Melee, just pretend he's pink and took off his armor" or "Luigi is pretty much in Donkey Kong, but without his green clothes".

This means that literally any of the original twelve characters that haven't already been announced can be changed. Or worse, anyone in Melee. A demonstration, though a harsh one, would be changing Marth as a character. NOBODY thinks they'll do it. Then again, nobody thought they'd take Ness out of Brawl until Lucas was announced.

Now you're nitpicking. >_< Lucas is very similar to Ness. All but one of his special attacks are exactly the same, and that one is just elementally different. I understand that you're a fan, and some other people are, but really, it's not that much different.

Ness isn't cut as much as replaced with a newer character from the same series with similar attacks. I'm sure they'll tweak Marth. Notice how I also said "until Lucas was announced".
I also meant they might ditch Marth completely for another character from Fire Emblem.
Or, in an argument similar to Tatsu's, "Just pretend Marth is four times as heavy and twenty times more powerful, and with a horrible horrible recovery move".
And you double posted because you're battling two different arguments at once in one thread. I don't see it as an issue.

I get that It won't be much of a difference fighting style wise, but the thing that makes the Smash series so awesome is getting your favorite characters together and having them duke it out. Smash just won't be the same for me without Ness. Maybe I'll be a bit less pissed if they decide to finally localize MOTHER 3 so I can actually know who the hell Lucas is (character wise), but for now, I'm pretty pissed that the main character of my favorite Nintendo game of all time is out of, quite possibly, the greatest game for the Wii, and maybe even of all time.
I guess Sonic vs. Ness wasn't meant to happen.

Ness has served the series well thus far, he should at least get something. Melee was the last game you could ever play as Ness in... Ever. Even if Lucas has a Ness costume...

Ness!
"Lucas!"
Huh...? Oh... Oh yeah...
I'll admit, it won't be as hard to get over as my signature suggests it will, but I'm not happy about this one bit.

But yes, I hope for alternate attires. If Ness still had his moves from Melee, I think they could be different enough to not be clones.
Although the moves are similar, they work very differently. Aside from PK Thunder.

PSI Magnet and PK thunder are your biggest problems, but Ness' moveset can probably be tweaked... I see no reason why Ness couldn't set off a few of Jeff's bottle rockets.

PK Freeze is like PK Cross (I forget the real name, whatever) except with ice
PK Thunder looks the same
PSI Magnet looks the same
Then his Smash Attacks are all different.
For God's sake, they even have the same length socks! gonk
The shirts have different colored stripes along with their matching yellow.
The cap/hair.
Ness' backpack.
What else am I missing?

In a sense, yes.
Notice Lucas' PSI Magnet deploys in front of him where he extends his hand, instead of around him like Ness'.
Also, his PK Fire explodes in a diagonal pattern, instead of Ness' pillar of fire.

PK fire actually launches and attacks differently. I didn't even see that in the magnet. The attack is too similar, though. Unless Lucas can aim the magnet after it's activated, it's too similar. And in differences... Oh, let's see... The GIGANTIC Ness fanbase. Fanbases of unknown characters are what gives people like Geno a shot in Brawl.
