My lead is gonna be Omanyte. Providing a nice Sandstorm and some entry hazards will be a great help.

If you want sandstorm and entry hazards, why not get a Hippowdown? It provides a permanent sandstorm and lays stealth rocks... Plus it's bulkier in defenses than Omastar. Or for little cup, if that's what your doing, hippopatas.

I actually checked out Hippopotas and originally had it on my team. First off, your wrong, Both Omanytes Special and Physical defenses are higher than Hippopotas. Secondly, Hippopotas only gets Stealth Rocks, Omanyte gets Rocks and Spikes. Hippopotas also has more weaknesses, and if I put an Ice Beam on Omanyte to cover it's grass weakness, it should be pretty okay, especially since grass isn't too common of a type. Also, Hippopotas, besides EQ, doesn't get that many good attacking moves, Omanyte has a much better movepool with particularly much better access to TMs.
I tried to be pretty thorough about this, and I think I'm sticking with my decision. Mostly I'm just really glad I'm not wrong for once.

Still rather use Hippo. I use it for my Sandstorm NU team.

Idk, also Hippopotas is a silly name. If it were a more legit sandstorm team I would do it, but I guess my only validation is that it has to be at level 5, and gets less good moves. Also, I already have so many ground types, I wanted to add variety, so a single Ice type couldn't sweep my whole team. I'm still pretty concerned if I go up against a Snover or something...

Also, I already have so many ground types, I wanted to add variety, so a single Ice type couldn't sweep my whole team. I'm still pretty concerned if I go up against a Snover or something... well the thinkg with these things... is as long as it learns it at any level... if both parents know the move, the baby will havent...
so say hypothetically...
hippo learns slack off at 35, if both parents knew the move, (unsure if they both have to be the same specifes for this to ork, but probably) then the baby would have it when it hatchesd, even thugh it wouldn't learn it til 35
if you concerned about getting sept by grass/ice moves, why not try out a magnemite?
I don't know your team... but if you do have a lot of ground types, and want sand storm... the best way is to go with sandstream, cause the 5 turns of sand (7 with the rock) will go by quickly, ESPECIALLY if they pull out a wall, or use protect. and then you don't have ti the rest of the game unless you load your whole team with ways to bring it back out.
but like I said, I dont know your team, if you wanna use omanyte over hippo, go ahead, but maybe you could use both? also as a warning in LC stuff dies pretty fast... so setting up both SR and spikes with the omanyte probably wont happen...
