So the concert last night was so, so ******** awesome. Didn't start until 10pm, but once it did, it was awesome. From 8pm-10pm they had two DJs come out and start scratching some stuff and playing other songs, great mix they had going. Then the opening act got up, Ben Yomen with elePHANT Gerald and DJ Stereotype along with a great saxaphone player, Heftones or Heptones, I wish I could remember his name. Anyway, he had a great set going, a mix of hip-hop, awesome sax solos, and awesome DJing. Totally rocked out to that.
After that set I managed to get the quick attention of a very hot looking girl, but, yeaaah, looked like she was taken, and she was also a bit older and I also think with a band, so I didn't bother thinking about trying to do anything other than taking her compliment, "I love your energy!"
After that I sat back and watched The Youngblood Brass Band (the main act) setup. Once they setup, all hell broke lose. Their first song was offa their new album, Is This a Riot?, and I totally broke into a skanking-esque frenzy (seeing as how it's the only real dance I know how to pull off. sweatdrop ) which, once again, got me the praise of that one girl. xd But yeah, after that it just started to get more and more insane, you could smell the pot in the air and the people, including me, screaming out for them to play one of their great songs, Brooklyn, which they did and we all went wild with dancing, jumping, everything. The night continued on and around their last couple of songs things just went batshit insane, jumping everywhere it was a damn mosh! But yeah, it was really fun, finally ended around 1am.
I picked up one of their earlier albums, Center:Level:Roar and got it signed by six of the eight members, along with getting some serious props for my energy from the opening act. Finally got home around 1:15am-1:20am and passed out at 2am. I'll have pictures and stuff later.

Well, from what I've read and seen I can say this much (although Stream'll come in and explain and clarify everything).
It's the dance to ska and skacore music (skacore moreso than first and second wave ska nowadays, I believe) that originated in Jamaican dance halls, while it died out for a while it was brought back during the Two-Tone Era (second wave) of ska and continues to be rather popular today. It consists of jerking one leg backwards, like trying to kick yourself in the butt, then jerking the other leg foward, like you're trying to kick yourself in the face. Not exactly sure how much you're supposed to lift your legs up, but I've seen lengths from a small kick to a rather big one. I also believe that while alternating your kicks, you kick the foot currently in the air to the right or left after you've reached the peak of your kick. I've seen skanking in the PV for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' The Impression That I Get and I heard it could also be seen in a Ramones' video, but I'm not too sure on that.
Like I said, Stream'll know a lot more about it and clarify things, but, I think that's the basic gist of it.
