Dub vs. Sub This has been done so many times. There's no point to these threads anymore with the introduction of DVD's. These threads ultimately become flame wars so please refrain from making these.
Polls While this isn't really a big problem, it's more of a tad annoying. If you're going to make a thread that spans several subjects and know that not all will fit on, please submit a "other" option as the last selection. This insures that everyone has a chance to voice thier opinion and not forced to vote on options they don't like.
Common SenseMentioned in the above statement, please search before posting. There are several pages and things get pushed down very quickly here. Take the time to go back at least three or four pages. If you don't see anything on the topic you wish to post, then go ahead. If there is one, please post there.
Addition:If the thread happens to be over two weeks old, don't bother reviving it. Especialy if it is a pointless thread. Check to see if there is a flame war going on before posting. If so, do not, DO NOT, bring back up to the front page. It will only cause more problems.
Ripping of anime This argument has come up recently and is somewhat of an annoyance more than anything. People saying that anime is being infringed upon due to poorly done "copy cat" series such as Teen Titans or Totally Spies. However, both and all animated features can be considered anime if you want to be technical. Anime is just the name for an animated feature in Japan and a few other countries to my knowledge. Cartoons are basically what we call them in America. Please, don't start useless topics saying that someone ripped off another. It's influence just like other things
Downloading These threads are basically un needed. Downloading anime is illegal. Yes, it's against the law. People say it's not but apparently they never heard of international copyright laws. Anyway, don't bother asking for Bit torrent sites or places where you can download scanlations. You'll most likely get flamed
What's the difference between anime and manga? yes, this does come up from time to time.
Anime = Animation. Pictures put together at a high frame rate to give the illusion of moving objects.
Manga = Comic. A story told with pictures on pages combined with text in word bubbles to progress the story. Put in the form of a book
Best anime ever!? Personal preference. If you feel you must know for some reason go
ahead. But please check other pages first.
Spoiler warnings This is a common problem in many threads. If vital plot information is being talked about, please post a spoiler warning in either the title of the thread or in you're post. There are methods of hiding spoilers such as posting in bright colors making it un readable unless hilighted.
Can you suggest anime/manga? Yes, people can. However, we do need some help. If you wish to ask for assistance in finding any manga or anime please let us know what kind you're looking for. Comedy, action, robot, romance, ect. This insures that you get something you'll enjoy, and not just random titles.
Editing and Dubbing I have noticed this arise again and again. I am confused greatly to this as well. Just wan't to clear it up though. Dubbing is the sounds and voices you hear in anime. Editing is the choice to take out content. Many of you may blame the station that airs the anime you're watching for such actions. However, this is untrue, in some cases. Editing is done by the company who picks up a series. Additional edits may arrise due to certin occasions, such as Tenchi or Outlaw star. These series had been around for a while before CN took them up, so no unedited versions exsisted. It would be better for everyone if you put alittle effort and did some research before blamming a station. I also ask that you please note the difference between editing and dubbing to avoid alot of conflict/confussion.
Spelling and grammar Ok, you don't have to be an English major, but please keep basic skills polished. Shorthand and replacing "the" with "da" makes my head ache to no end. Not for any other reason, other than my eyes see the word and my brain can't understand why it's there. I know I'm not the only one, so we (others and I) ask that you please try your best to keep the English language a little bit intact. Also, puncuation is your friend. Use periods, spaces, and question marks where needed. I've seen a couple of long posts with no puncuation at all, and while I was able to read it eventualy, it was still slightly confusing
Broken Japanese It's not cool people. Seriously, it's wise to not do it. If your not going to speak a language in it's full form don't do it. It's somewhat insulting, not to mention pointless. Also, to those people using translator sites, it dosn't work. Most of the translator sites are word bassed, and are not programed for grammar. Which means your not going to get the results you want.
Let's talk anime!!! Ok, pick something. Threads that address anime in general are more of a chat room bassed medium. Thusly, they belong in chatterbox. People have a bad habbit of abusing a message board in this manner. Please, keep descussions to a specific series or subject. If you just wish to say "Dude anime is fscking sweet", it's not the place for it.
Quick Cash You cant get money unless you post or sell things. Thats how it is untill the big boss guys say other wise. Dont like it, to bad.
Free Porn/Hentai Come on, how low can you get. It is highly encouraged that you do not give out links to hentai/porn sites on this website. Gaia is PG-13 and we want to keep it that way. Plus there may be minors accessing these sites. That, of course, is
against the law. I think that nearly covers everything. Please keep this bumped. Feel free
