Attention fellow anti-guilders. Time for a few AMV reccomendations, so take the potatoes out of your ears and oik up, you gits.

1> The title of this one is simply "School Rumble" and it is from the anime of the same name set to the 3rd (I think it was the third) ending to Bleach, Houki Boshi. This video is mostly a rundown of many of the more common characters with several of the more amusing clips from the Harima/Hanai rivalry and a few of Eri's shots at Harima's fragile dignity. I think this could possibly be one of the best summaries of the essence of a series (without spoiling plot like a ******** too)... its only lack is a sense of Harima' seriousness about his love of Tenma.

2> The last video may have missed the seriousness of the show, but that is covered nicely by this one. The video is titled "School Rumble - Tribute to Harima". It is again School Rumble, but this time set to the song "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt. Seriously, this video's dealing with Harima's love for the clueless Tenma actually got me misty-eyed. If you like romantic videos, check this one out...

3> Yes, its another SakuRan video... Since I'm rebuilding my library I managed to find a bunch of videos that were either glitched, not there, or managed to fly below my radar last time I looked... this one is titled "Playmate of the Year" and is named for the Zebrahead song this tribute to the insanely gorgeous girls from School Rumble. On its chorus it makes great use of some of the footage of characters being surprised or shocked... check it out and you'll understand everytime you hear the words "Woo!" and "Yeah!".

4> Another Duel of the Fates video... but this one doesn't try to take itself as seriously as the others I've seen. School Rumble's horse battle from the athletic festival arc manages to deflate some of the seriousness from this tune while using it to heighten the strange sense of drama it manages to impart on rivalries between the classes. Not one of the finest videos I've seen, but worth checking out for the variety.

5> After all those music videos it would be time for a "Commercial Break" ... in this single AMV there are three parts. The first part is Kimura from Azumanga offering breast exams, Harima's psychic hotline from School Rumble, and ending with a commercial for a death metal album by the girls of Azumanga Daioh. I was practically in tears laughing at this one.

6> "School Rumble Overture" I forget the full name of the song, but it is one of the big brassy overtures you tend to hear during firework sequences... and guess what it is set to... Yep, SakuRan (one of the few shortened names I'll ever say, since the creator is the one who made it and even had characters from the show mention it during omake)... they even managed to work a few of the relatively AMV ignored characters into this: Imadori, Lala, and the teacher even make their way in.

7> Finally breaking the trend is what may be the perfect Honey & Clover video. It is titled "No Name for What I Feel" and is set to the song "No Name" from Asian Kungfu Generation. Anyone who has seen and liked H&C NEEDS to see this video and anyone who hasn't seen it should check it out. Much like the show itself, the video seems to center around the feelings of Takemoto, but also deals with Yamada, Hagu, Mayama, and Rika's situations too... and the beautiful part is that much like the show, this amv uses moments of Morita's antics to both cement the whole thing together as well as provide moments of contrast that help put the pain and uncertainty into perspective. God damn, but this is sure as hell worth the 5 I gave it in the rankings... and would be worth a 10 if they had it.


Honorable mention goes to a handful of School Rumble videos that would have rated individual mention were they not blatant appropriations of unrelated footage taken out of their context by members of the Flag Faction to support the Eri/Harima pairing. Seriously, when there's a good deal of footage supporting that relationship, don't all of you use the same half dozen or so bits of Harima being depressed over Tenma not returning his love in the context of your faction tribute.

And if anyone who watches School Rumble wants to know my factions, it is Oudou (Harima/Tenma), Riceball (Harima/Yakumo... yes, I support him with either sister. The former is the cuter, but he's one of the only people capable of making Yakumo happy, which makes me happy), Curry (a joke faction supporting Karasuma's love of all things curry), Flute (Hanai and his childhood friend, Suou), and Apple Juice (Imadoi/Ichijou, because she is just too damn cute to not get what she's after). I also bear some unrealistic affection for the Monkey faction (Harima plus most of the girls, including the nurse). I am perfectly willing to knife serious members of the Under the Moon faction in the face though; although I will eagerly laugh with joking members of this one.

And yes, SakuRan does actually have fan factions... roughly 30-40 so far.

I couldn't help myself. I read the ending. I'll just say that it didn't end exactly as I thought it would, but yeah... most of what I thought happened did..

Spoiler spot: My only regret was that it was Near who did it and not L. I really liked L. ;_; I don't know why I don't like Near. It might be his indifference. It's really offputting.
