That was totally overdramatic. Teddy's forehead wrinkled as he watched Billy race out the door. That was ...really overdramatic. He looked at the array of presents on the floor and sighed. "Sensitive..." he muttered before heading out into the hallway after Billy.

Billy arrived in the foyer where Mrs. Sandsmark was seated, reading from an old book. He stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"Thanks for letting me pop on over Mrs. Sandsmark."
"Oh William, are you leaving?"
Billy snuck a glance back at the hallway, then returned to look at his hostess.
"Yeah, yeah. I actually told my mom I'd only be gone an hour and now it's the day *after* Thanksgiving and I have a feeling she's REALLY going to give it to me."
Mrs. Sandsmark chuckled.
"I think you're in the clear. She called looking for you last evening and gave her permission for you to stay over."
"Oh. Uh, `kay."
"But it was nice having you over William. I hope you pay us a visit again."
"I'd like that. Well ... bye."
She waved at Billy and he went for the door.

"Theodore, what happened to your lip?" Mrs. Sandsmark asked as she looked up from her book.
"Billy sat on my face," Teddy said, "He fell." He sighed and flopped down on the couch. "He was upset because I called him a clutz."

Hartley was not the only one with a phone call. Unlike the former's, Wallace desperately wanted this conversation. He hadn't spoken to his parents in a while, and so, he thought he might just burst.
"...That's so embarrassing. I can't tell you about that sort of --- we haven't even! KNOCK IT OFF." Despite the fact that he sounded mildly annoyed, he was laughing. He was spread out on his back on the bed, his legs up in the air against the wall. One of his socks was drooping lazily, his heel naked and exposed. His head was at the edge of the bed, about to go over the side. "You can't ask me that. But yeah...I like him a lot."
"Hm? My roomie? He's really nice. He's gay too. His boyfriend is a total dipshit. I mean, I know I'm a bubblehead, but his boyfriend takes the cake. Hm? ...No. Mine is pretty level..."
That was a bit of a stretch, but whatever.
"Redhead. Musician. Is he a what? .... Of course. Only the baddest for me! Oh my God, I won't get in trouble. I swear. Criss cross applesauce or whatever. Shhhh shhhh it does mean that. No, it really does. Don't you even dare. I'm the teenager here, I know everything. So don't even."
Wallace burst into another fit of giggles.
"I miss you too Sonya. I do. Uh..really? I'll see what he says. He has parents too you know. But, you'd like him. A lot. I do. Ok, love you! Kiss kiss byeeeeeee!"
Wallace hung up his phone, grinning from ear to ear.

"I didn't mean to offend him."
Mrs. Sandsmark pressed the book to her lips for a moment, thinking. "He said he was leaving, but you might be able to catch him. Of course, he might have already poofed out."
Crap. He could do that if he wanted to.
Teddy got up from the sofa and wandered back out into the hallway. "Babe?"

Billy stepped back out from the closet with his jacket.
"It's okay Teddy. I have to go anyway. I..."
He shrugged and finally looked at Teddy.
"I-I know I'm a klutz. Hell, I'm a spaz. Wallace and Hartley were right."
Billy slipped his jacket on and zipped it up.
"I didn't mean to hurt you."

"Do you actually have to go, or are you leaving because you're butthurt?" Teddy reached out and snatched Billy's jacket from him, holding it behind his back.

Billy frowned and looked to the side and almost, could it be? Smiled?
"You know I'm not sure. This is going to just reinforce that whole spaz, klutz, dipstick rep I have going ... I kinda ... sorta ... forgot to tell my mom I was spending the night yesterday. Remember? I told her I'd only be here for a couple hours and..."
He shrugged with his hands held out.
"Here I am."

"And you can't just call her?" Teddy caressed Billy's cheek, his thumb trailing across his lower lip.

"You just did." Teddy's finger and thumb rested on Billy's chin, and he used it to pull his boyfriend a little closer. "You should stay with me..." he whispered, kissing him softly, slowly.

Billy's knees wobbled a bit but he took a deep breath and steadied himself. He opened his eyes and smiled.
"I guess...I could call mom and see if I can stay until school starts. But she'll probably insist you and your mom come stay with us for Hannukah over holiday break. I mean, I did kinda skip out on the family Turkey Day. I..."
Billy looked around in wonderment.
"Teddy, where's your mom? I thought she was coming to this shindig too?"

"She couldn't make it. Something happened with a family member, she wasn't specific. I gotta call her again tonight." Teddy's hands moved to Billy's hips, pulling him in closer.

Billy wraped his arms around Teddy and hugged him.
"I really am sorry about busting your lip. I guess this means no more walking on your back?"

Hartley finished talking to Ferdinand, and headed back to his and Wallace's room.
"This town is sort of like a cultural black hole. I talked to Mrs. Sandsmark's chef....the, uh, bull-headed guy...and he says there's a couple of clubs on the edge of town and the big mall, and that's about it."
He sat on the bed and leaned back, his hands behind him, giving a bored stretch.
"So I say we blow and start back to Midvale on our own. I could rent us a car, and we could take our time...have some real fun. I mean, unless you want to stay for Teddy's sake or whatever."
Hartley finally noticed Wallace's big grin.
"What? Did I say something funny?"
