It's also not "Paula" at all. That's a popular scene girl pic that I see on a lot of 13-year-old girls' (or 40 year old men's) profiles. Dunno the chick's name offhand, but there are probably ten thousand people on the internet claiming to be her.

Also @ the whole makeup thing: as a girl who doesn't wear makeup, the only thing I think about girls who wear makeup religiously is that it must suck not to be able to leave the house without feeling like a monster when in reality nobody is even going to notice. From my personal experience, most of the people who labeled women who put effort into making themselves more attractive as "sluts" or "skanks" were motivated by their own insecurities; jealousy for women, and fear of rejection for men.

Actually, I'd probably go one step further and say that most, if not all of the malicious things people say about others are motivated by the aggressor's own insecurity, which has interesting implications about homophobia.

Hence "models," because my cousin is full of s**t, and taking these pics from random places while she browses the internet.

She called us all, leaving messeges about how we're haters, because she "owns her own company and is worth 60 million."
I lol'd but I digress.

There's this kind of double-standard I don't like. The media is set up to tell women that they can't look good without applying generous amounts of makeup. But then, half of the ladies that try to adhere to this ideology are labeled as sluts for trying to improve their self-esteem in regards to their looks in the way that society tells them they should.
Does that seem a**-backwards to anyone else, or is it just me? confused
I mean, I understand that there can certainly be too much of a good thing, but even so...

Oh, no, I just think it's too much make-up, not that they're sluts.

And more specifically, I was referring to "Paula."

That's not a woman. It's a creature from beyond the abyss.

Huh. I guess I don't bother with those kind of sites enough to know that. xd

Yeah, that's basically how it works. There are always qualifiers and individual explanations and excuses, but when it comes down to it those two reasons are generally at the core.
Actually, the more time I spend around people, the more I see that just about everything and anything negative about other people stems from insecurity in one way or another. Fr'instance, I've seen people fall out of friendships because one person can't stand to see other people match them in the things they take pride in (and thus deal with it by being really passive-aggressive and pretentious as ******** about it all), while the other person fears being judged poorly (and so the condescending attitude from the first person drives them up the wall because they know that their work is just as good).

EDIT: Goddammit, you made my point before I could finish typing this. xd
I can't say I've never thought about homophobia in this light before, though. It's kind of an interesting idea in itself, and there are studies that have explored the idea that have come up with strong evidence to support it.
The bolded part is me playing League with the fags.

Which makes me sad to think it's what I take the most pride in recently.

brb reevaluating priorities

It's kind of funny when you think about it, though. You know, how obvious it is, but how blatantly denied it gets anyway. If everyone intristically knew how transparent their facades were to onlookers, I wonder how differently they'd behave.

Honestly? I have no idea.
I mean, I know that my own masks are pretty paper-thin to anyone who's known me for more than maybe a month. But I don't bother to change any of it. I guess partly because it helps to feel...safe, almost? Heh, perhaps facades like these are just security blankets for adults. xd
I can't say that other people would remain the same like me since I'm not them. But I think for some people this sort of realization is like a stepping stone, you know?

Well yeah, this site is obviously a low-brow company at best, a lot of s**t is stolen, the testimonials are laughably fake, and it's probably too low-profit to even take its legality concerns to court. But at the same time, nobody wants to work, everybody needs to pay bills to live. I don't see anything wrong with doing something you enjoy, even if you don't need a college education to do it.

Maybe I'm biased because educated people have been spitting on my dad all his life as a high-school dropout-turned-mechanic, but I would actually probably make a purchase from a small self-run business like this (probably with just a tad more credibility, of course) before I'd make the same purchase from a large department store, even if the latter gave me a better deal. I have a lot of respect for people willing to take risks and cut their own path rather than jump through a bunch of hoops and be handed a desk job at the end.

Not saying that's how easy it is for a kid with a college degree to get a job in this economy, just that my dad's family of doctors and lawyers all seem to have that "my life plan is safe, practical, and foolproof and that makes me better than you" attitude.

Yeah, but she's been at this before, with candles and massages.

Anyway, hey, if you can support yourself with out a degree, that's fine and dandy, but I'd rather see it be something with honor and integrity, not hey look, there's this "make up company" started by a French model! Buy stuff from her! When, in reality, it's a lazy woman living in an apartment in Houston, Texas slapping rhinestones on s**t from the hair sto' 'round the corner.

And yes, sto', not store.

I don't think most people even put up those masks consciously, though. I mean, my sister is afraid to take a crap on the ground floor bathroom when she has people over; if she were doing this consciously it would imply she is terrified her friends will find out that she's human. It's probably more of a "x should be this and should not be that" mentality that you're conditioned into from a young age that just takes over when you weigh your desires against your insecurities. It's become like breathing; you don't even notice you're doing it until something happens to remind you that you are. Does that make sense to you?

Honor and integrity are concepts bound to an individual's perspective and every large successful retail chain ever simply resells things they were shipped by manufacturers en masse. While it's definitely low-quality and even a tad laughable with how obviously fake the claims are, it's nothing new and it's definitely more creative than flipping burgers. Probably more fun, too. What's the point in hating on it?
