((Mel's, what, human?))
Janani's eyes warily follow Melliandra. What is it with this woman? She's rude, inconsiderate, and seems to like pushing buttons. She might be mistaken, but Bard and Margaret weren't too pleased with her last night...
Melliandra... Have you or have you not given your soul to the Devil, Satan, Lucifer, or whatever you with to refer to him as?
Janani doesn't move. She wants to be near enough to block any attack from one who's soul has been tainted by that foul abomination, and it would serve as protection for Bard as well. It also allows her to guage the woman much closer up. She can hear her heartbeat, now, and that would be a good indicator of decite.

((More or less))
*Melli smiles cooly up at Janani* You really should sit, you know. I'm uncomfortable enough as it is without craning my neck to see you. *she lifts the bottle and continues amiably* Care for some?

*Bard starts tidying up the furniture in the room a bit, but still listens amusedly to the conversation*

Sure. Tha...
Janani blinks as her mind catches up to the fact that Melliandra just changed the subject.
Hey! I want an answer!

I know you do. But of course one cannot always have what one wants, can one? *Melli grins, setting her glass on the counter and grabbing a second one. She opens the bottle to fill them both, then shoves one glass into Janani's hands* Have a drink, instead.
*she chuckles and waves the bottle toward Bard* Shall I pour you a glass, as well?

You said you sold your soul to the Devil!
Janani blinks at the drink Melliandra shoved in her hand. What is this woman thinking, anyway? Janani just can't figure her out... There's no decite in what Melliandra just said. Afterall...what did she actually say but a universal truth? Janani shakes her head.
It's just... Why would you say such a think?

*Bard finishes righting the chairs and walks over to the bar* I could be persuaded to have a glass.

*Mel smiles at Janani* Why not?
*she smirks toward Bard, grabbing a third glass, filling it, and sliding it toward him*
*she lifts hers and addresses them both* Well then, what shall we drink to?

Well met there m'good dame I'm Captain Mercutio Cross at your service *he bows doffing his cap*
*notices the the toast and wishes he had something to hand to join in with*

Because...
Janani's voice becomes very small. She has a great deal of love for humans. Despite the temper she showed earlier, she would never harm a human. However...if Melliandra had been tainted by the Devil, Janani's only recourse, to save others from being harmed by her careless, haphazard, and calous decision/mistake, would have to end her mortal existance...even though it would mean eternal torment and pain in the abyss.
You'd have given up eternity for unbearable, neverending pain...
Janani seems truely horrified by the use of selling one's soul as a joke. Could Melliandra be that calous?

Not the most original toast, but it shall do. *she taps her glass against Bard's, then Janani's, and takes a swallow*
*lowering her glass, she spots the new arrival* And who have we here?

(*ponts up to cross Introducing himself*)
And who am I addressing *Cross asks is head tilted to the side and a wide grin on his face... he takes in her attire... it was a tad old fashioned, but fit her features well. he gives a small nod to bard his grin remaining as the man had remembered to address him properly* oh a bit maybe... I think its been close onto a week since I was here last

:::Lord knows she didn't want to...but could she really have just ignored the voices she heard coming from the bar? She knew that the moment she walked in, the madness would begin again, but she at least had to see who it was...:::
:::She got towards the end of the hall, and proceded as quietly as possible. She managed a stealthy glimpse at the guests. Bard, Cross, the huge woman, and Melliandra... why did it have to be Melliandra? If it weren't for her, Cora would feel perfectly fine turning around and going back to her room, but she kept getting the distinct feeling that Mel could attack at any moment. She had to stay, and watch at least...just in case. She stood about 10 feet from the entrance. Well out of site, but quite close enough for her to hear even mumbles:::
