:::Her eyes lit up while walking toward him and the chair:::
Yes! You mentioned a man named Tacitus...but you faded before you could tell me anymore. Please...what do you know about him?
:::She took the seat, only in the hopes that he'd sit down too to start explaining:::

He did indeed take a seat as well, directly across from her, but he didn't look anywhere near as enthusiastic, "Miss Cora...I...no. Cora, I am..." He stopped, putting his hand into his coat, Damn fool. Damn fool. I can't tell her now! This is ot the time at all. He pulled his hand from his coat and set a scuffed up object on the table. It was rather dirty but glints of gold could be seen across its surface. If cleaned up in would likely look rather impressive. He nodded towards it, wanting her to take it and look at it.

:::She looked at him concernedly, he obviously had something to say:::
What is it?
:::But then she looked to the item he'd set down for her to look at. She picked it up and began to inspect it. As she began to wipe away some of the tarnish, she realized what it was... not that it was a police badge, but that it was an object that proved Tacitus' existance. She read his name, and force, and rank on it... Her eyes went wide:::
This has his name on it!! Where did you get it!?

He sighed and looked up to her, "Cora...I am only able to tell you that this belonged to Tacitus. It obviously does't belong to him any longer. I found it on the street. I was actually rather stunned to find it, really. You can't understand how much it boggled my mind when I saw the name. It was like....fate. I have no use for it, you should keep it. I may not be able to show you the man that the badge represents, but I can give you a way to remember him."

:::in nearly a whisper::: what...?
:::She felt something cold grab hold of her, deep down. Jordan was talking about him as though he knew Tacitus was gone. But how could he know that? He didn't seem to know the man, he just found something belonging to him... Cora was a bit in the dark about belongings still. All she knew was that she'd never part willingly with her own belonging... what if...:::
:::she spoke quietly, not realizing that the dreadful feeling was spilling out through her intonation:::
What do you think it means..? Why doesn't he have this with him? Is it important to him?
:::it looked important:::

Tac sighed, "Cora, Tacitus as you knew him seems to no longer exist. That there was his badge, a symbol of his standing within the Gaia Police Department. That place was his life. He devoted himself to it and it's cause until the end it seems, maybe even beyond. It seems the people we love never really leave us, which may sound rather cliche, but its true. If Tacitus is still alive then everything he loves and holds dear must have been taken from him, even for however short a time. Losing something or someone terribly important to oneself can be devestating." He looked away as a tear came to his eye, "I know this better than anyone might know.'

:::Cora bolted from her seat a moment later, clutching the badge in her left hand. little rivers were escaping from the corners of her eyes, but she didn't seem to notice them, she just had one thing on her mind:::
How do you know!? :::She asked accusingly::: How do you know any of this about him. How could you possibly know that he's gone?

He burst up out of his chair as well, "Cora, I've lost people dear to me all my life. I don't think you can comprehend how hard it can truly be to lose someone so dear to you that you'd kill for them. I know it. I've lived it. I'm trying to help. I'd like to think fate played a hand in bringing me to you. God dammit, Cora! I lost her and it killed me. I was torn to shreds when I lost her, and theres no fixing it! I'm a shadow of my former self. That damned badge may mean nothing to me, but I'm giving it to you so that it may at least hold some meaning! Thats how I know, Cora. A man torn down to nothing is the same, any way you slice him. Tacitus as you know him seems to be gone, never to return. My pain is your pain. Your pain is mine. Let me help you."

:::She turned away when he yelled back at her. What in the world was he talking about. Cora barely understood a word of it. How was it that he thought they came together by accident, on purpose. Was there such a thing? Did he really have Tac's badge for no reason other than that?:::
You mean to tell me...that Tacitus is gone. And the only reason you're here is to tell me that? You don't even KNOW him.
:::She couldn't look at him:::
How does that make any sense?

He fell back in his chair, "I don't you'll ever understand it Cora. I probably know Tacitus better than anyone to ever have lived." He looked back up to her, "In all your time coming here, and in the time you couldn't, did you ever come to understand how someone will always be with you, even if not in person? The fact you fight so hard against this shows you care for Tacitus. If anything destroyed him, I'm sure it was losing someone like you."

:::Turning back around, upset and almost angered, all out of confusion:::
But you DON'T know him! You said so yourself! How is it now that you say you know him better than anyone!?
And no. I don't know what it's like to feel like having someone when they're not there. All that time I was away, I was entirely alone... all I had were the memories. I didn't even have the dirt that all your thousand year old dead vessels had turned into by the time I was alive.

He shook his head, "Cora, the simple fact that you kept them alive in your memories is what matters. Thats almost what its like." He noticed he had begun to fade, "Ah, fate. Such a cruel puppetmaster. Pulling upon our strings as we go. Keep the badge Cora, maybe Tacitus will come back to you, just not quite like you hope." He a final smile, however weak, he was gone.

:::she couldn't help it, when he faded away, Cora found herself back in the chair she'd been sitting in. She slumped forward and began to cry into her folded arms. She'd never done this before, and it felt utterly strange to her.
Even in all her time away from the Brink, she'd never felt anything so...sad. He couldn't be gone, people had seen him. That giant woman whos name she still didn't know through all the confusion had known him... though, she had gotten him mixed up with Jordan. Why was this?
She felt like her brain had scattered into a billion different pieces, and she could understand this all if she could only put it all together. Cora was a clever girl, but no one raised to be as logical as she could ever think outside the preverbial box enough to imagine that Jordan WAS Tacitus. Besides, if she ever thought it were possible, she couldn't imagine Tacitus telling her such a blatent untruth.
So she cried, and felt more helpless than ever in her own home...:::

Once again, Janani appears in mid-air within the brink. She might well appear to be standing on the balls of her feet. Her hands are on her hips with her WhiteRose stuffed under her right arm. She's leaning forward, and her face is flush. Janani appears to be angry, and her tone certainly would agree with that point.
Why do you think he left?! It was you and...wa....wa...?!
Janani's arms flail as she feels her inability to hold herself in the air. Her eyes go wide in quite sudden and apparent realization. She balls her body to minimize any damage she might do to the articles of furnature beneath her. She crashes into and very well splinters a table, and that act sends chairs flying. Janani keeps her eyes tightly pinched shut. She doesn't want to look at the damage she might have caused... The crash sounded bad to her.

** Enter Bard **
((Janani? Still around?))
*Bard fades in, his fingers twitching at a non-existant keyboard in front of him. He groans, heaving himself out of the chair*
*mutters* Couldn't I at least bring the typewriter with me?
*He looks around the room noting the damage to the furniture and blinks in surprise*
