It didn't seem possible, but her grin grew sharper as the lady asked the question back to her. Twitching her tail irritably for a moment, it relaxed and draped over her hip. Cheshire's narrows white slit for a pupil, grew, then shrunk to a sliver.
"The Cheshire Cat...." She said through her grin. "Your turn cat lady...."

The Chesire Cat... ah! Her eyes opened up a bit more-- that's why she seemed a bit familiar. It'd been a while off since she'd read the books or seen the movie, but how could she have forgotton? Though... even in Gaia, she didn't know that Chesires were real, that there were more than one.
"D'... just D'. It's spelled with an apostrophe, it doesn't mean anything."

Owle, having been through a variety of mixed experiences since she left Barton, stumbled through the door.
She looked like hell. Blue hair sticking up all over the place, the long strands succumbing to humidity and the many tangles in them. The brown feathers on her tiny wings were mashed like she'd been sleeping on them, all bent a little and out of place. The brown armor like scales covering her shoulders and feet were dull, no longer shining after layers of dust and grime, and the blunt digging claws on her toes looked little better. Her wide, curious brown eyes were halfway shut, barely seeing the world in front of her.
She grabbed the nearest chair, then simply fell over into it. She remained in a sitting position, slumped against the backrest, until finally her pupils wandered around the bar, lazily alighting on the two patrons within.
"Welcome to the Firebrand..." she groaned, forcing herself to sit up straight. "How can I help you?"

((Did I scare everyone away?
If I've unwittingly stumbled into a scene that was supposed to be just between the two of you, I can delete my post and say Owle was never here. I don't mind; I just thought you guys would want someone to serve you drinks.))

-You're fine. Don't worry.-
Shoving her nail into the counter beneath her, Cheshire dug out the letter 'D' without looking, her eyes were focused on the cat lady's. Her tail whipped about with the fickleness of many cats. Cheshire perked up her ears as she heard another persons voice, her hallow eyes swiveled to look.
"How.... Curious..." She whispered to herself. "So... D'... D-face...Deeeeee... What brings you here... With me?"

(Sorry, no... it's just holiday stuff, I'm sure. Play, play. It's your house.)
D' watched the second female walk in and was wary enough to kind of hop back. However, she didn't do much, other than sit tiredly in a chair and breathe heavily before finally speaking.
"I..."
Chesire spoke, and Twitch sighed, pointing to her while speaking to the newcomer.
"Excuse me, Miss... Owle, right?" Twitch watched HOH, so knew what was what. "It's nice to meet you... is she one of your workers?"

"Ah, here we are. The Firebrand Tavern - certainly looks the part."
Motorcycle helmet under his arm, a young man brought his leg over his bike so that he could stand properly at the edge of the beach. There was no way he'd be gumming up his bike riding on sand; he took care of his girl, and she took care of him.
Considering the heavy polish and protection that went into the paint and chrome, it seemed rather odd that the man would simply leave the bike on it's own as he hopped down the less-than-beaten cliff side to the beach below. Either he was exceptionally trusting or there was something he knew that others didn't?
Either way, his leather riding suit squeaked and squealed with every minute twitch, and the soft padding of his boots gave way to heavy clomps as they hit the wooden floorboards on the Firebrand's porch. A brief look through the window; a cat woman of some sort, some scaled girl, and another one he couldn't make out clearly. Several shorties milling about too, one with a viking helmet.
Damn.
Ch-c***k, clunk, creak.
"Waitress! Service!" He had no idea who or what was supposed to serve him - he just made a guess and figured someone inside would answer. After all, this was a tavern, and taverns earn money by serving their patrons.
As the man walked in, he stuck a finger in the air, drawing a circle a few times in a "hurry up" motion as his heavy boots took him to the nearest bar stool. Sitting down with a few more unnatural squeaks, he set his helmet on the table before scratching the scar on his nose.
"Well?"

The more and more people showed themselves, the more Cheshire's curiosity was provoked. This, was never a good thing. Stretching herself across the counter, Cheshire laughed out as her body began to disappear.
"My my. How colorful this plethora oh beings shows... Who will crack first.." She paused.
In fact. There was a long pause. All that could be heard was the rude man who just walked in. He was interesting. Cheshire silently made her way over to the man and took his helmet, then jumped to the rafters above. She then put it on.
A soft giggle echoed. "Nobody knows..."

Owle jumped at the sound of her name, focusing her wide brown eyes on the woman. It didn't occur to her that she might have gained some popularity, or even recognition from the HoH tournament...heck, no one had responded to the little Firebrand ad she'd snuck into her bio. At least, as far as she knew.
"Yes, I'm Owle. How did you know?" She swiveled her head, birdlike, this way and that, as if looking for someone else to be there. Of course, there was no one but the two who had been there when she walked in.
Her mind belatedly registered the woman's question, and her eyes turned to land on the Chesire Cat.
"Um, no. I'm the only staff here at the moment, I guess."
She took another quick look around, then muttered something about "lazy dwarves" under her breath. "Can I get you something?" she asked again, looking back at D'.
Then the abrupt man walked in, and Owle actually sighed aloud, managing to just barely lift herself into a standing position.
"Yes? What can I get for you?" she groaned, punctuating the question with a yawn.

((The Firebrand's a two story building... there are no rafters. But I'll let it slide this once.))
The poor woman looked like she had been run ragged. The young man decided to change his demeanor somewhat... at least towards the girl who appeared to be taking his order. The helmet-snatcher he'd have to deal with in a moment.
Striking yellow eyes darted in Owle's direction, shortly followed by the rest of the man's body turning to face her. His right foot sat on his left knee, both of which were fidgeting constantly - perhaps just out of habit. Unlike his voice moments ago, his eyes were soft and forgiving towards the girl.
"I had no idea you were so under-staffed. Please, take your time. I simply ask for a Green Dragon."
He flashed a grin after his order, quickly turning back to the counter and looking above his head.
"You, with the furry... everything." Addressing people cordially wasn't his forte. "I'd like my gear back, if you please."
Meanwhile, a very stout, very bearded dwarf waddled up to Owle's side. He carefully re-adjusted his viking helmet before speaking. "Ach, Mi' Ow'e. Sor'ih 'bah al'tha tro'bha. Bin' upstar, dih'n sim ren'a've'tins. Ye'ne'd anah'thah, leet mah knu."
... Watts was as impossible to understand as usual.

D' relaxed quite a bit, what with more people around to ensure her and others' safety. Arms dropped to her side and she sighed.
What luck for Owle, because... "I... D' Aire, acting president of the Blazestar Empire, a Heaven or Hell sponsor. I was watching, and recognized you. Actually, I came since it was mentioned somewhere..."
She shook her head slowly, casting that aside for immediate concerns-- Chesire, who was hiding away with the male's helmet. "She's energetic..." But at least Twitch wasn't the target of antics, so she could go back to talking to Owle.
"Are you alright? You seem frayed." She chanced stepping forward and putting her hand on Owle's shoulder. Not that contact was needed, but Twitch's spirit, aura, whatever was calming. It was a lasting attribute from her last job. How much it worked depeneded on the other individual, but there it was. "As he said... you can take your time if you need to settle in. I'm not in a rush."

-*Bows* Gomene...-
"I'm not a furry you dolt." She said as she leap to the floor. Cheshire stood up and looked at the small man, as she leaned in. "You speak like ya got a frog shoved in your throat."
Sticking out her tongue she backed up and bumped into the Owle lady and meeped. Her deep black eyes fixed on her as a purr muttered from her.
"Birdie..." Her narrow white pupils grew as a grin tugged greatly on the corners of her lips. "You're like a birdie..."
Giggling, she leaped on the owl ladies shoulder, then off onto the floor. Cheshire wasn't heavy at all, it was an advantage to those she pounced upon.
"Can I stay here with you D'?" She rolled to the ground and purred a bit more. "Is that okay with you birdie lady?"

((Wow, I get lots of attention biggrin ))
"A Green Dragon...?" Owle tried to force some of the usual energy back into her voice. It wasn't working. Did Rage ever teach me how to make that? I don't think so...he said it was a family secret and everything, so I never asked...
"Watts!" Owle exclaimed happily, trying to pretend she understood what the hell he was saying by ignoring all of it. "Do you know how to make a Green Dragon?"
She turned back to D' as the woman spoke, and got a thoughtful expression on her face. "Blazestar...I've heard that name before..." It was hard to think, though, her head so foggy with fatigue she was having trouble telling up from down.
"Ah, I'm fine, I just had a run in with Fluffy...after I had to walk through several miles of forests, during which I was accosted by two wildcats, and after all that Rand said he'd rather stay out and play on the beach instead of coming right home..."
Owle sighed. She smiled somewhat at the touch on her shoulder, though that calming aura seemed to slide right around Owle...never touching her, but never diminished by the proximity, either. As a telepath, and a paranoid one, Owle had defenses against any sort of mental or emotional manipulation...even ones as innocuous and benevolent as a calming sensation.
"...so, you could say I had a long day. Thanks, though, for asking."
Then there was a 'meep', and Owle felt something unexpectedly bump into her, causing her to wobble dangerously before regaining her balance.
Birdie? Well, she'd heard that one before. Usually she tried to explain to people exactly what she was when she got comments like that, but right now she was too tired to formulate a response.
Fortunately, she didn't need to, as the Cheshire jumped onto Owle's shoulders, the force causing Owle to stumble to her knees. Heavy or not, unless she was as light as a feather, it was no easy thing for someone exhausted and nonathletic to begin with to stay standing after an unexpected weight landed on their shoulders.
"Um...yeah, that's fine," Owle responded, when the Cheshire asked about staying. "Just...don't...jump on me. And..."
Eh, the man could get his own helmet back. It was not worth the effort of interfering. "...well, there are rooms upstairs, if any of you want to stay the night."

"Then maybe I'm just imagining a tail and ears?" The man laughed to himself as the cat woman bound off. "And you speak as though you need one." She could do as she wished with the helmet... at least, until one of them left. Then it might become something of a problem.
The man's gaze fell to Watts as the question about his drink was asked. Conveniently enough, another dwarf had kicked into gear to translate - he started a second or two after Watts began to speak, simultaneously mixing the requested drink.
"Aye, only young Kaldarak and Rage could ever do that drink right..." the eyes of the man at the counter seemed to light up with the mention of both these names. "... but I'll do what I can. I've only drank it once, but was it ever a taste to remember. Knocked me out for three days and five hours, it did."
He pushed a heavy metal glass across the table with "Deadly, Deadly Drink - Not Responsible for Death Resulting From This Beverage" etched into the side. "Thank you, Watts, and... I don't believe I got your name." He cocked his head slightly to the side, his yellow eyes shining brightly in expectation.
Once he did, he'd cordially thank her for her help and take a seat at a nearby table, his long blue ponytail swishing just as the name implied.
"Come, have a seat, if you please... I'll buy you a drink."
Apparently he thought this was rather funny as he chuckled lightly to himself.

She nodded to Owle when her being tired was explained, and then drew her lips back in thought as she eyed Chesire. If Owle needed help up, she got it. "I... alright, sure." Despite her energy and whatallelse, she seemed harmless. She just seemed to have jokes that were malicious and could go too far. In saying yes, Twitch hoped she wasn't giving Chesire permission to torment her.
With another thoughtful lip pull, she gave Watts a once-over. She was able to understand him... closely. Got the general gist of it, but she wasn't being spoken to. That didn't mean she couldn't contribute. "What's a Green Dragon?"
