I only bring bad luck to people I care about. If I don't leave like this on them, my streak will surely continue, and they'll leave or die on me. I'm leaving them because I know that they would never dream of turning their backs on me! It doesn't matter how strong they may be, something stronger will destroy them. I don't want that to happen!

Manta caught up, cursing his short legs. "Listen to her, Shizuka! She knows what she's talking about. Back when I was so into school and afraid of being friends with Yoh, she convinced me that friendship can be worth sacrifices. And we're Shamans! We're not afraid of death. Some of us would probably even welcome it," he added sadly, thinking of the wistful expression Faust wore whenever he passed a cemetary.

Faust was alone in the clearing. A nagging worry tugged at the corner of his consciousness, and he wondered if Mephistophiles was through with him.
Just to be safe... he thought, drawing a syringe out of one of his many pockets. Slipping the needle into one of his veins, he thought of how he used to roll his eyes when he heard of doctors overdosing. They should know better, he'd thought. Now he was in a mindset that didn't know the difference between death and relief. He tried to make himself feel better; It's only a barbiturate to paralyze me, so I don't follow the children and hurt them.
As his heartbeat slowed to a dull, unenthusiastic rhythm, he brought out a photograph to look at while the drug took effect. In it, he stood beside Eliza, who was in a hospital bed. She was pale and tired-looking, but more beautiful than Faust had ever seen her. His own expression was deliriously rapturous, because in Eliza's arms was their daughter, just minutes old.

Naosuke followed swiftly and soon was far ahead ofKatsuya.He suddenly saw Manta, Shizuka and Netsubo. near eachother, "come on" he said to Katsuya realizing he was too far behind. he started to walk toward them, knowing they weren't gonna notice him.

Manta was extremely convincing; so convincing that this RPer didn't need to actually come up with arguments! Only a fool could say no to his arsenal of friendship and loyalty related points, and Shizuka was of course no fool.

Shizuka conflicted in her head once again, deciding whether to stay or go. Her eyes began an aimless gaze to the ground before her.
"Shizuka...? Oh, not again!!" Amaya waved her hand in the shaman's face, getting no reply.

Faust heard voices. Sighing, he refolded the photograph and tucked it back in the pocket nearest his slowly beating heart. He'd almost been asleep, wrapped in a sleepy warmth that would have prevented him from rising if a demon was indeed possessing him. But the drug's effects were wearing off more quickly than he'd hoped. He'd built up a shocking resistance to a dangerous narcotic, and that couldn't be good.
Grabbing a tree branch, he pulled himself to his feet, feeling as if he were made of lead. He was certain he recognized at least one of the voices...
