In two more months it'll be my 8th year playing clarinet! I wish I could join a marching band but they don't have those in Australia. They sound so fun

Austrailia is super awsome. I was there this past summer for the music festival. I think all of the bands and choirs were really awsome. It was super fun playing there.

I am a jr. and have been playing clarinet for 6 years. I like it and all but my BD makes me feel so small and crapy, when I am actualy one of his best players. So I dont know how I feel about it.

I have my sister's clarinet, but she is going to get it back. I just started, but I like it. I'm on vacation and I haven't had time to practice. How do you do Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on it? Can you?

clarinet for about a year and a half (and still better than most highschoolers at my district...yes my district IS retarded and sad...sigh...). Any good solo recommendations? I'm learning Mozart's Clarinet Concerto (see username...cough cough), Paul Harvey's Concerto (third movement)....anything else that you might suggest?

Hello!!! I have been playing clarinet since grade 7 (six years for me), but I quit band in grade 8, because the music director was horrible and I was really sick. But now I'm in high school, grade 12 (AH! Graduation!!!!!), and I play in the school band. Yay ^_^ .

I've been playing the clarinet just as long as you have biggrin ! anyways, to play the high notes takes patience, I started to learn the second and third octave in december, I was able to get the second octave down in the middle of janurary, in march I started to try the third octave and after one month, I was able to play the third octave (the first chair and second chair couldn't even play it last year in sixth grade! nor could they really play the second octave :3)

anyways, so it takes patience, I suggest you start from the highest note you can play, hold it until you run out of air, then play it again in a half note value, then procede to the next note (which will be the first high note you can't play)

which octave are you having trouble with? second oct or third oct?

actually the altissimo (spelling? xp ) isn't as easy as just blowing. try changing your mouth: if you have never gotten the high notes out, try closing up your embochure(as you can tell, i'm not good at spelling). if when you try to play you get kind of a fuzzy "zzuzz"y sound then try putting your first finger on half of the first hole. make sure you use lots of fast air that is the main thing though ^those were just some tips if they don't come out rightaway. o yeah and don't forget that A flat key!

i was able to get the full range the first semester playing...... blaugh granted that it didn't sound so great; i got it xd sweatdrop the prodigy kids got it perfect at about the same time-but they are band wierdos...........
