Jack put his hand on Shannon's stomach, checking to be sure that it wasn't going to be a breech delivery. He was thankful that the baby seemed to be properly positoned. Jack lightly pushed Shannon back onto the grass by the shoulders.
"Okay Shannon, it looks like you're going to have this baby tonight after all," Jack said lightly. "When the contractions come I want you to breathe through them but I don't want you to push yet. This could take a few long hours. Just try to relax with the contractions."
He took a water bottle out of his bag and wet a cloth with it, placing the strip on Shannon's forehead.

Shannon sat up, tears streaming down her face. "Tonight? I can't have it tonight. I'm not ready.." She protested, knowing there wasn't really anything that she could do about it.

Jack looked at her sympathetically.
"I know this is scary for you, but there's no way to stop it now," Jack said softly. "You are going to have this baby and everything will be alright. I promise."

Charlie and the others frowned. Jack had left and they were now at the 'Others' hideout. Sawyer had walked out into the clearing and Locke follwed behind him.
"See anything?" Charlie called out from where he and Kate stood.
Sawyer sighed heavily. "No, just jungle andd smoke . . .nothing to really worry abou-" Suddenly something came zooming by and spearing Sawyer through the shoulder. He cried out falling to the ground. "DAMN IT!"
Locke ran over to him, dragging him back to where Charlie and Kate where as more spear like things kept falling around them.
"LET'S GO!" Charlie shouted.

Boone looked back and forth between Shannon and Jack. He was so scared for everything. He let out a small sigh and tried to figure what to do now. He wanted to hold Shannon, but he wasn't sure wether she'd push him away or not.

Charlie, Kate, Locke, and Sawyer came running back to the caves. Sawyer was moaning, blood pouring out where the rod was at. Locke laid him down on the ground and turned to Kate. "Stay with him, whatever you do, do NOT take that out of him!" He snapped. He then ran off to find Jack.

Charlie looked down at Sawyer. "I'm going to go find CLaire and see if she's alright. I want to be with her . . .the Others might be comign after this." With that he ran off to find Claire and the baby.

Claire sat in the cave in her usual spot with a blanket wrapped around Rebecca. Rebecca slept soundly in her lap cooing softly every now and again.

Shannon nodded lightly and relaxed a little. Soon, another contraction hit her full force. She covered her mouth with her hands to supress a scream.

Boone moved closer to her and placed her other hand on his forearm. "Squeeze as much as you want.." he said, hoping this would help her.

Jack squeezed Shannon's shoulder as a contraction hit her.
"Good Shannon, that's good. Keep breathing, it's almost over," he encouraged. "You're doing great."

Shannon let out a raspy breath and a few more tears slid down her cheeks. This hurt like hell. But it passed soon enough. She sighed a little and worked to catch her breath.

((She had to go again, she'll be back around 10:00pm eastern))
Boone smiled lightly and held her hand. This was going to be a long night, but would lead to something great. He smiled at the thought of the family they would have and stroke Shannon's back reassuringly.

Jack gently felt Shannon's pulse as she caught her breath. Her contractions were still relatively far apart so they were going to be sitting there for a while.
"How are you doing?" He asked her.
Jack looked at her in sympathy.

Shannon glared at Jack. "Well, how do you think I feel?" She snapped, regreting it once she had done it. "Sorry.."

Jack shook his head, smiling lightly.
"Don't apologize," he said softly. "You're stressed and in pain, that's your body's natural response. I would have done the same thing."
Jack didn't take it personally. He knew that it wasn't really Shannon talking, that it was all of the pain and emotion threatening him. He could see her hiss in a breath as another contraction hit her. He just hoped that this wasn't going to trigger another asthma attack in her.
