This is starting to sound like one hell of a relationship. Leon's probably one of the few people he lets see him eat the marshmallows. Hell Leon probably has a spare key to Vali's apartment to check on him.
Since he would know the signs of something being wrong with Vali and Vali would have probably told him to stop kicking his door down because repairing it's a pain in the a** so he just gives him a spare key to his apartment in case Leon needs to get in for some reason.
