Quicker. More fluid. More graceful. Her eyes lost fear and gained determination and focus. Good, good. She was a warrior, a fighter, and a swords-woman. Maximos had no real idea who or what her past self really was, she could have been a scholar, a dancer, but the way she handled that blade he knew she was more. - TING! - Maximos twisted at the wrist pointing his blade at the ground and then brought it up, clockwise, like his body was the face of a clock with the sword as its hand. The swords clanged together for a moment as he defended the start of the attack just before it struck his thigh. Now defend! The blades would screech as he stepped forward bringing his sword up even with his midsection, and then forward in a stern thrust toward the center of the chest. Nothing too strong or serious, not as an insult to Teira but, Maximos was always a gentleman. Still, he couldnt shake this growing recognition...

An attack!
An offensive move had been reciprocated, solidifying in her mind 'Opponent.'
Someone she must fight until she cannot fight any longer.
The attack came, and guarded. It was her turn to drop her blade's point to the earth. As she moved backwards, she moved her wrist in a counter clockwise motion, the dark sword moving with it as she struck mid-blade on his his sword to knock it to the right (his left). Her blade didn't follow through with the motion but stopped where the two swords had intersected.
Not stopping, Flicking her wrist toward her opponent, her sword's position changed. The tip no longer perpendicular to the ground, her body swept downwards, her blade moving on a downward diagonal, but forward. As she crouched and pivoted to her left, around his right side... her sword fished between his ankles, striking at his left heel and the precious tendons found there.

Her determination was touching if not beautiful. It had been so very long since Maximos had seen such purity of drive in any individual. How much of this was memory simply acting on its own? How much would Teira recall, he hadnt a clue. But he couldnt leave her in shambles, no, she had talent, she had a gift and he had to make sure she blazed a flaming black trail through her opponents, slicing them to ribbons as they went.
Excellent!
He said, excitement bristling on his tone.
For a mundane man or woman, thats more than excellent. But you, Teira are more...
Her blade missed by little more than inch. Its tip would let out a dry scrape as it hit the floor, its tip, while dull digging a small cut in the gym floor. A small cut that quickly filled with thin black liquid, liquid that could be followed back to twin trails bursting forth from Maximos' boots.
Violet coursed through runes covering his feet as he took to the air. No more than a 15ft up, though the roof wasnt for another 200ft, they had room fly. He could feel, this missing piece of memory, the gap in the puzzle keeping its ambiguity...his answer felt so close, a sword clash away.
Show me...who you are...
Its said, you can only really know someone when you've engaged them in combat. Maximos believed that whole heartedly.
This fight had taken to the air.
---
Three days.
He said, at the end of a bite, placing his fork down for a bit to sip some tea.
Several slips, many "accidents" and...one...village attack was it Walter?
The butler nodded from his spot at the end of the table overlooking the dinner. He was of course on call for any and every need his guests may have.
Indeed, one village and three wandering "heroes".
Maximos chuckled a bit.
Yes, not all "dark" magics are infact "dark" magic.
He smirked remembering the encounter, and then took another bite.

eek
"Village attack?!"
Donner imagined an angry mob of villagers taking on Maximos with burning torches and pitchforks, grimaced, then decided not to.
Then rolled his eyes at Maxi's little pun. All he needed to do was quaff a lace handkerchief and Maximos would seem more blue-blooded then the King...
...of where-ever.
Donner frowned then, thinking hard. Actually, who did run Gaia? There had to be a government of sorts. Were the cities sovereign nations unto themselves, or were there plots of land divided between them?
This was the type of stuff Donner pondered upon. It regularly gave him a headache.

Indeed!
Maximos perked up, a bite or two later. He liked to savor food, so he took it slow.
I didnt get the enchantment right the first time. Several pieces of rock were hurled into the air and crashed on the countryside, thankfully there were no fatalities.
He took another smooth sip, before continuing.
The village took no damage, but they believed they were under attack, that it was only a matter of time. You see...
He said looking over to Walter with a smirk.
We needed a way to place the runes on the entire surface at once. When the placement was partial the runes just launched the stone into the air. Of course to discover that we had to go segment by segment across the array.
Walter seemed to smile in recognition.
Just as the villagers arrived with torches, pitchforks, and rolling pins we managed to get it right. You can imagine their shock as they approached the hillside to see a square mile of land disconnect and launch off into the sky.
Remembering their faces, he couldnt help but laugh. They must have thought it was going to crush them.
Thankfully the falling rubble did crush a Dirgesca Wurm hiding under their village that rose due to seismic disturbance. They eat dragons those, it must have thought a drake had touched down. Though it fell easily when pelted with giant rocks. And....
Maximos took a deep breath and let it out flatly.
...the people of Derga village often send pidgeon mail inviting us for some of their famous Derga Tea.
He nodded, and took another bite, never one to elaborate so much as to appear braggardly.

When the world suddenly rushed back to him, Damion did something he never thought himself capable of. He screamed like a little girl and fell flat on the ground, clutching it tightly with wide eyes." I have taken you for granted solid earth! never leave me again!" He muttered swiftly, peeking around from his laying flat position before rising slowly, looking only slightly embarrased as he stayed in a kind of half crouch. " Is that a windmill?" He ventured cautiously, his eyes sweeping across the visible land with growing interest and far less suprise now. Now that the gut wrenching feeling was gone, he was becoming just as curious as before. He blinked at Maximos's question though, thinking on it," You know...I'm not really sure. I don't think I can see in the dark...." He followed at a quick pace, as if just then realising Maximos had moved.

Rae had been stuffing almost anything she could find into her mouth as Maximos told the story of how the island came to be, eyes wide as she imagined huge chunks of earth rocketing into the sky.
"Can anyone tell me the difference between a Wurm, Dragon, Salamander and a Drake?" xp It was a rather strange sort of question, but perhaps Rae was going somewhere in her questioning, and not just randomly wandering off topic?

Now that was hilarious, he couldnt help but laugh. He had seen people be disoriented, even toss their lunch, that was new.
Yes indeed.
He said with a nod.
I thought it would add a nice touch to the horizon.
He held both hands up and them moved them outward as if displaying the horizon, his head looking over his shoulder.
What do you think?
He'd give a moment or two for an answer before continuing. That shouldnt be a problem, hear, wear these.
Maximos said lifting his hand, as if holding something. Swirls of black poured up from the ground, tiny shadows being sucked into a new home, a new form. And before one could say "Shadow", a plain black pair of sunglasses lie in his hand, sunglasses that were being offered to Mr. Hedly.
They should help you see inside.
Though if he wore them now he would be able to see nothing through them but black.
---
Partially!
Maximos said brightly with smile, turning to face Rae.
A wurm...
He made more of a "uh" sound in its middle as he gestured with his left.
Is a giant evolved form of the lumbricus terrestris, otherwise known as the Earthworm. It has a single large mouth full of concentric rings of teeth and is otherwise a giant stomach.
He nodded, sounding very official. He then gestured with his right.
A wyrm...
He made more of a "eee" sound sort of pronouncing "weerm".
...is a kind of dragon I believe, or at least a large lizard. But I dont really know much of anything about dragons.

" It's pretty...I almost expect to see boats coming up to the edges at any moment." He said, looking around slowly once more, commiting everything to memory as he absently took the glasses offered to him, holding it gently in his left hand." Do you live up here by yourself? Seems like it'd get very boring..." He said, frowning alittle at the meere though. His right foot kept sliding across the ground, as if assuring himself that the earth was indeed below him. This definately rated a 9 on the weirdometer, but atleast nothing bad had happened to him. " And your right, it does add a kind of...flair to the horizon." He said, almost laughing at the word. Horizon was a horrible word for it but it's the only apt one for it.

Her eyes narrowed as her target sought to flee, but she wasn't done with him yet, and her wings unfurled behind her as she lept into the air after him.
She reached outwards with her left hand, the right holding her sword diagonally across her chest. She flung that left hand out as if to-- to what---
Nothing came. There should have been something there... she grasped at that 'void' straining to sense some response... the response that should have come when she asked... there was a strange nothingness. She wasn't sure what she was calling on, just that something should have answered her.
Then, she felt something else.... this was different from what her instincts had been looking for, but it still reached out to her... willing.
Shadow.
Not quite darkness, but an element very close to it. And it was an element that thanks to her new body, hadn't been taken from her grasp. That shadow welled within her as she acknowledged it, and it took on a tangible form relevant to her desire.
The shadow spear formed and launched itself at Maximos. Without her conscious ability and knowledge of such a weapon however, it's design would flawed and crude, throwing off the projectile's accuracy. It was sail past him to the left missing him by a foot or so....

Maximos eyes opened in utter shock. Words failed him.
She came at him her aura raging around her with incredible powerful. It seemed to bathe over her in brilliant red and twisted black the colors melding and intertwining and for a moment seemed to enrapture her.
And then it came like a hammer crushing on his skull.
Maximos was horrible with faces.
He was atrocious with names.
But he never forgot an opponent. Those wings, that flaming aura...a large sword...It was only a flash, a memory present and then gone just as quickly as it came. But then again, that was all he ever had. A second, a blink.
He was frozen in place by the epiphany, if the spear hadnt missed on its own it surely would have struck home. As it flew past a single word fell from his lips, as if it had crawled weak from a dark corner of his mind.
Sierra...
How could I have been so blind...?

"Sierra... "
"Hrrrgn!"
It was like sonic boom exploded loudly in her ears. A blinding flash of pain searing through her head as she back winged, halting her advance. Severely stunned, she hovered, holding her head as if in terrible pain while still trying to hold her blade out with her right hand.
Her body knew... it told her, NEVER let your guard down. Even if you're hurting... You can be hurt more.
Her whole body shook now, a sweat breaking out, dampening her skin.
It felt as if her head would split into hundreds of pieces... as if something was trying to claw it's way free from within her.
She hung motionless in the air, save for her shoulders heaving as she panted, her heart thudding so hard she thought it might burst forth from her chest.

Sierra was a famous person! Her name and face was all over the television sets at last years HoH. If she was here someone, someplace HAD to be looking for her. What would that mean for--No, this wasnt the time for those kind of thoughts.
His first instinct was to approach, his thoughts guided his boots to burst him closer but he stopped. Like this she would be honestly dangerous, not just to him but to herself as well. He couldnt rush in, lest she think him an attacker.
He drifted slowly, closer. Walter's barrier would stand, but that didnt mean it wasnt painful. A wall being strong does not remove the pain caused when you slam repeatedly into it. Did it mean she wasnt ready?
He could only assume there was a war inside, a war he could not join, though he could and would be ready here beside her, to see its result through.

The soft glow emitted from the black gem of the ring Walter had given her, flickered for a few seconds while she clutched at her head, before dimming ever so slightly.
The shadow dress she wore, seemed to erupt, as they swirled around her body in a blackened tempest before suddenly returning to their normal 'clothes' form.
Her bangs were plastered to her forehead and she was trembli--- no. She was shivering. She was COLD.
A fire elemental being cold was never a good thing...
Yet she hovered there, her mouth twitching upwards in a smile as her eyes shone at Maximos.
"Nii-chan--"
Had she gained a little of her vocabulary back along with her fighting instinct?
"S-sorry-- Teira-- attacked Nii-chan--- T-teira is sorry..."
Her desire to forget, was still stronger than her will to remember. Remembering hurt... and it was scary. But like this-- Like this it was peaceful, and she was happy.
Like this... she had a family who cared about her...
She held her hands out to him, one offering him the sword back, the other reaching for someone to hold, reaching for her 'brother'.

Rae blinked a few times and puzzled over it.. so one was a mutant fish food, and another was a different word for dragon. Definitely two different species there, but what about drakes and salamanders then...and why the hell was she suddenly stuck on this train of thought?
Well part of it was likely the flash of memory when Maximos spoke of a dragon...but there was something wrong with this memory, because she could not place it properly in her mind. confused
Rae waited to see if Grace of John had anything to add.
