Miles grinned as he heard Noira exclaim how much she liked the food. "I'm glad to hear it," he told her honestly before he went back to drinking his coffee. After a moment he tore off a small piece of bread from the slice he had ordered and held it out to Scratch. "Here, you'll need your strength," he told the bird. Scratch stared at the food Miles held in his hand. Bread??? Ravens didn't eat bread. Well, he had been shot off a telephone wire and carried around in a bag to keep cover so he wasn't about to blow it now. He leaned forward and took the piece of bread, swallowing it quickly. Miles gave a smile. "Heh, I think he likes it," Miles said. His intuition was clearly off on this one, though one could hardly blame him for not being able to interpret bird emotions. Scratch gobbled up the next piece of bread as Miles offered it.

Miles nodded as he heard Noira explain why he shouldn't continue to feed the bird. "Yes, I imagine you're right," he replied. "Don't want it to become too dependent." Scratch ate the last of the bread that was offered to him and huddled back down in the bag. "He seems to like it in there too. Maybe he'll start following you around?" He speculated teasingly.

Miles began eating the rest of the bread himself, a smile forming on his face as she asked about the witch whom he beat in chess. "The witch liked board games, and thought it would be funny to go around setting villages on fire, so she had a bad habit of going into towns and challenging anyone there to a board game. If they lost she'd burn their town. I happened to be in one of the towns when she visited. I also happen to like chess. Long story short, I accepted her challenge and picked Chess as our deciding game. It was quite close but I won and she ran off crying." He gave a small smile and a shrug, seeming proud but also slightly embarrassed.

Miles returned Noira's laugh. "Neither had I," he replied. "Not until then at least." He shrugged slightly when she asked if he thought he'd have to beat a witch with his chess skills. "Well, you never know do you? Maybe I should start brushing up on Old Maid." He grinned as he leaned back in his chair, sipping on his coffee. "Have you ever had to fight a witch?" He asked curiously.

Miles seemed slightly surprised. "It's an old card game," he told her. He also seemed surprised that she had fought tons of witches. "Your Blackwing group must be extremely strong," he noted, sounding impressed. "Hmm, could you tell me about your toughest fight?" He asked.

Miles nodded. "Yes, I was taught as much," he agreed when Noira explained how different spells gave clues as to the type of enemy one would be fighting. He cocked his head to the side slightly when he heard Noira mention Clara. "Clara?" He asked curiously. "I can't say I've heard of her."

Miles smacked his head lightly with the palm of his hand when he heard Noira explain. "Ah yes, of course. I completely missed the connection there." The truth was that he was distracted. For some reason he enjoyed just spending time with Noira and watching her talk. Though her comment about Saint Clara was fairly accurate. Miles frowned as he remembered "Saint" Clara and how she had murdered an innocent child at point-blank for no reason at all. "Yes. And I remember that poor girl," he added. He took another sip of his coffee. "I've run into Machinists, but that was the first time I met Clara. And I imagine the last."
