Earendil blinked at Lin. "Thirty," he answered her unasked question slowly. "That's a six hour difference ... of course, that's assuming that our hours are equal ..."

Even so, it was a huge amount of time. A quarter of a day here.

"Which knowing our luck it isn't...." Lin murmured, "Gah... no wonder why I slept like the dead when I visited you when I was little at first."

It had always been annoying. Lin may not be a morning person, but she was more than capable of waking up early, except for the first day or two after arrival because staying up for those extra hours killed her.

"Not that I've had time to adjust with all the traveling," she added, "Ah well...."

She smiled and figured it wasn't such a big deal. After another hour or so the two were off on a pair of horses to the city. Otherwise, Lin figured they wouldn't get back in time.

"So where to first?" Earendil asked, feeling quite at ease atop the horse he was riding. Certainly it was smaller than he was used to, but at least it was a form of transportation he knew and liked.

"Goggles or books?" he went on, referring to his first question.

Lin looked thoughtful at that, "Well the bookstore is a bit past the lens store, but we could also pick them up coming back...."

So it wouldn't really matter.

"But maybe we should pick up the goggles first, since we don't know how long we'll be at the bookstore."

Earendil nodded. "Sounds good," he agreed. "So first to Len's place."

He looked around, wondering if he could remember where the shop was located, but he had a feeling that they might not have passed by this particular spot the day before.

"This way then," Lin replied as she picked up the pace only a tad so she could be leading.

Leading on horse was different from holding someone's hand and leading them there. Heck, it was strange for her to just be riding in Gaia like this. It wasn't something she did.

She had to lead to a few streets over to get to the Len's shop. Once there however, the sign was easy to spot.

When Earendil spotted the sign for the shop, he smiled and relaxed. It always felt good when he knew where he was, and where he was going.

There was only one question now.

"What do we do with the horses?" he asked Lin as they approached the shop. "Leave them out here on their own? Is there somewhere to tie them?"

He looked around to see if there was a hitching post or if they would have to have one of them remain out here with the horses while the other of them went inside to claim the goggles.

"There are racks to tie them to," Lin explained.

Sure enough in front of the shop where these black circular racks lined up in a row. Used for both bicycles and horses, and made especially to hold horses.

"What a strange looking post," Earendil blinked at the thing. He had never seen one like that before. Still, he rode up to it and dismounted, tying the horse's reins to the circular post.

"It's a multi purpose post," Lin explained, "It's for bicycles as well."

She tied the reins and opened the door for Earendil.

"I'm not sure how to describe that device to you, but I'm sure someone at home owns one."

"Perhaps you could point one out to me if you see one in the street when we're finished here," Earendil suggested as he headed into Len's shop. "Then no explanation would be necessary."

He looked around once he was inside, wondering if Len himself would be around or if someone else would be manning the shop.

Len didn't seem to be around, instead there was a young woman sitting at the front desk. She was the person whom all the appointments and payments were made to. Otherwise, he wouldn't get anything done while he tended to customers out in the back.

Lin though, was already aware of this, as she made a beeline for the counter.

"Excuse me," Lin murmured once she reached the front desk, "We're here to pick up an order. For our son Andarien Aldrich."

Earendil followed Lin, keeping himself out of her way while she conducted the necessary business.

The woman ducked into the back and brought out a box that had Andarien's name scrawled across the top. She opened it to show Lin the goggles inside, explaining how to care for them and how to adjust the straps. Since Andarien had wanted goggles, making sure they grew with him wasn't a problem, so the extras were just that. Extras in case he broke one.

Then, once that was concluded, the woman gave Lin the price which she paid.

"There we go," Lin murmured, "That was fairly simple."

Earendil chuckled as he opened the door for Lin again. "You expected otherwise?" he asked teasingly.

Though for all he knew, she might have. She'd had that tone of voice, after all.
