"I've been doing alright," Lin smiled slightly.
She was grateful Adanedhel tried changing the subject.
"Just came back from the Hunt and uhm... I'm hoping to travel soon. Well soon would be left up to debate with the time differences, but I do hope it's soon."

"Oh?" Adanedhel beamed. "Traveling already? Well I suppose you are an adult now ... tiny as you are." He chuckled softly. "Is this the trip with Earendil around the ocean?" he asked her. "With Roydon and Arwen?"
That was the only trip he could remember her ever planning for.

Lin smiled sheepishly looking down at herself, it was true. Among elves if it weren't for the fact she was human, she would probably always be considered a child if a person didn't know any better.
"There's been a slight change in plans, first we're going to be traveling around the Southland with Tinuviel, it'll be fun and she'll get to see the Southland too."
And get away from nagging parents....

"Tinuviel ... the princess?" Adanedhel asked, tilting his head curiously. "Yes ... I understand she is under quite a bit of pressure to marry ... not only from her parents, but also the Queen ... and the law ..."
He pursed his lips. "I don't think it is fair, to force someone to marry by a certain age. Love should be pleasant ... and not forced."

"To be fair... I think she's way passed that certain age," Lin replied recalling how old Tinuviel was, "I don't like the idea anymore than you do, but I do see the practical reason to why. Tinuviel is, the only possible heir now.... Lothiriel is a queen in her own right and Arwen has no such training."
Not to mention she mentally added no one she figured could drag Arwen to the throne, not even a herd of wild horses.
"I mean.... it was touch and go after Elnara left... there is a good reason for that law, it's just my problem with it is, she's still seeing the same people she turned out since it's started and at her age that's a very long time, not to mention that tells me they're not very bright."
She never did manage to ask Tinuviel what she thought of while entertaining her suitors.
"At least traveling she can get away from them, sort of..."

"Sort of?" Adanedhel frowned and leaned closer to her. "What do you mean, sort of? She's going traveling ... doesn't that mean that they won't be visiting her?"
Surely they would not be so bold as to try to accompany her uninvited ...

"Tinuviel said chances are for every town they stop that has a lord, he'll probably be inviting her to stay at his place... and it's rude to refuse," Lin replied with a sigh.
Pity, she would have liked it to say no.
"Sounds like a pain."

"Well," Adanedhel quipped, seeing how annoyed Lin was with the thought already, "perhaps then you'll be able to see for yourself just why Tinuviel is as annoyed with them as she is."
Ecthelion looked at his father curiously. "But Elrohir is a lord," he pointed out, "and he's not an idiot ... is he?"

Lin giggled at that, this was very true, "He's not an idiot, not all lords are idiots I guess then?"
She just didn't like this idea that they kept coming after her, and it seemed Tinuviel was just as getting tired of the whole thing.
"I just want her to enjoy herself for once, that doesn't seem to happen anymore. I know she has duties, but having to meet people who can't take no for an answer can't be fun."

Adanedhel was amused by his son's logic, and he laughed and ruffled the boy's hair affectionately.
"Well, even if she has to put up with lords that she doesn't like," he chuckled, "then at least she can enjoy herself traveling between one city and another. Who all is going with you, do you know?"

"Earendil for certain, I'm hoping Shiro, Ura and Kaito would come along," Lin looked thoughtful, "It would also be a good time to see if anyone in the family would also like to travel in the future, though most have settled by now."
She then just realized....
"But I haven't talked to Storm and Starr in a while, and they haven't seemed to have decided what they want to do."

It had been a very, very long time since Adanedhel had seen Storm and Starr, and he could hardly remember them. He had been so young when they had visited ... and they hadn't spent much time in the valley, when they had been in the Borderlands. They had spent most of their time at the ranch. So Adanedhel really didn't know much about them at all.
"Well," he said thoughtfully, "what sort of things do they like to do? Are they into traveling?"

"Well that's the thing, besides magic, no one knows. Because their magic was so unique they have spent most of their time trying to master that. Most Seconds cannot manipulate elements the way they can."
It was rare but even Seconds showed to have gifts every once in a while that required teaching to control rather than to learn.

Adanedhel nodded. "Like Haradhel," he murmured. He chuckled suddenly. "That would be handy for traveling. If there's a bit of terrain you can't get past, or if you're thirsty ..."
He waved one hand dismissively. "I know, you can't mess with nature that way. It was just a thought. Still. It could be interesting."

Lin smiled at that, "Well, it would also be good for them. Really, besides Hana and Garrick in the same home, but all their other siblings have moved out. Even though Serenity and Skye live on the grounds, I've heard they're maybe dating? So.. everyone's kind of moved on."
Which Lin thought even with siblings must be kind of lonely. At least her mother had no less than six children still in the main house, but she still had a lot of young siblings.
