"I see. It certainly would blend in with the snow," she commented, giving NoMetal a friendly nod. She continued to scratch behind Ed's ears.

"I know," Melethia said, "I always liked winter. I got to spend time with family. But this winter I haven't found family or at least the family I have. I've kinda told Ed the story already."

Amelia nodded. "I like winter, too," she said cheerfully. She stood up straight, smoothing out the rumples in her skirt. "I dislike it when it's cold and there's no snow, though. Maybe I'm childish in that I really like being able to flop around in big snowdrifts."

"I think most people like Winter, and that may be to the fact of snow."

Ed wagged her tail at Amelia and Nometal. Signs of life! Hurrah! She grinned at them as though saying, "What's up?"

"Snow is fun to play in." Melethia said with a smile, "Have you seen Soren?"

Amelia grinned back down at Ed, then nodded to NoMetal. "Yeah. The snow is definitely the reason why people put up with cold temperatures and biting winds." She laughed slightly, then rubbed the back of her neck. "Well, I'm starving. I'm going to get something to eat." With this, she dashed off for the kitchen.

Nils sat on the floor, playing his flute absentmindedly. He felt cheerful, for whatever reason, which was evident by the bright grin on his face. His eyes were closed, though, fully focused on not messing up the stream of music by a flat or a sharp.

Ed inclined her head as Amelia wandered off, leaving Melethia's question unanswered. But her ears did rotate to the sound of a flute and she turned, wagging her tail silently at Nils with a typical wolf grin.

Nils' song came to an end. He opened his eyes, only to see Ed. A smile came to his face. "Hey, Ed! Were you listening to me play? Did you like it?" He rested the flute on the floor next to him.

With no answer to her question, Melethia went back to her room. She seemed sad. She looked at the tome she was going to give Soren. It was a wind tome she found. There was also a silver axe on a shelf. It must have been for Isamu. She looked out the window.
"It doesn't matter how snowy it is," She told herself, "If you can't spread the cheer it gets sad."

The wolf bounded over to Nils and sat in front of him, nodding happily. By the expression in her big blue eyes, Ed was attempting to compliment his musical talent without words. He certainly had ears for good music.
She glanced over her shoulder for a moment when Melethia left. The look on the woman's face hadn't appeared to be a good one. Ed frowned slightly, but decided she ought not to bother her right away.

Nils grinned, taking the nodding and the facial expressions as compliments. He picked up the flute again and began playing an upbeat tune.

Ed started thrashing her tail to the tune of the song. Within a few moments, she'd picked up her paws and started dancing around on all fours, bouncing and stepping with surprising coordination for a beast. She bounded past one of the doorways (hopefully no one was entering at the time otherwise they'd trip over a dog here) and continued bouncing around the room to the beat. Through all this, she really was trying not to distract the bard.

Melethia opened the window. There were some tears down her eyes. She looked outside. The snowflakes hit her face.
"SSOOOOOORRRRRREEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNN!" she yelled out the window.
