"Uh..." Lucinda replied, awkwardly. She wasn't sure how to react to these men. "Don't worry, we'll take good care of you," he said with what he thought was a winning smile. His friend put his arm around her shoulders. "Please stop..." she mumbled.

Renatus slip his back up the tree until he was standing. He began walking back to the den to apologize. He may not have came up with a way to explain, but he was going to do the right thing...somehow.

"Don't be so nervous, sugar," he replied, putting a finger against her mouth. "After all, any girl who hangs in gambling dens has to have done this more than once." His friends snickered at her awkwardness. Renatus, where are you? Lucinda wondered. Please help me.

Renatus stood at the door to the den, searching for an excuse. He couldn't tell her, but he could just apologize and hope she forgets. He sighed and opened the door. He was only a step inside when he saw Lucinda. "L-Lucinda!" He yelled.

"Renatuc!" Lucinda exclaimed, hearing his voice. She turned out of the man's arm and ran to her friend. She caught him in a hug, so relieved that he had come back. "Thank goodness."

Renatus blushed from Lucinda hugging him. But it faded when he remembered the seriousness of the event. "What's going on here?" He said to the men, and Lucinda. He held Lucinda close to see if he could discourage a fight.

"We were just trying to provide this lonely girl some company," one of them said, casually. "No need to get defensive."

The men also tried to act tough, making insulting comments towards both Renatus and Lucinda. Then they sauntered off, not wanting a fight. "Thank you, Renatus," Lucinda said to him, looking up at him with a smile.

Lucinda nodded in agreement and slowly let him go. She turned and walked out of the building, happy to rid of that place.

Renatus walked out the door with Lucinda. He looked back at the den and remembered that he had brought them there. "I'm sorry that I made you go in there." he said, "It was my fault that that happened."
