"The last time we were together, adn that blade was present and it cuased us no real problems was when we first met, when she didn't know anything about it, and in Neriak, when we had far more to concern ourselves with than that. Other than that it almost always brings up a fight eventually."

A sigh.

"I try to keep it from me as much as I can. it seems to be better that way. knowing I can get it if I need it but not having it on person. I just forget I have it when I do wear it, and after awhile something like this occurs and we get into a fight about it. I don't think I'm invincible, and I know I can be bested and probably quite easily by some...but she seems to worry that my confidence in myself will get us all into trouble."

"Confidence can be a double edged sword Malik. Can bring about a victory or a defeat...and I speak not of just the battle field. Its perfectly understanable that she would feel such a way...you come off strong Malik, you present yourself in a way that says you are indeed invincible...and others will want to challenge that strength you present. That is what she worries about." A little nod to him. "You want help...let her help you. You say your minds are off of it when occupied, then occupy your minds...set your mind off of all of this security business..."

A little pause. "Now that you are both in a place you call home, now that she's set aside her wanderlust boots, now that marriage is the issue, that you're fully bonded...there's bound to be more worries, despite what one may think." She looked away a moment in thought...a balance. One where Piper didn't worry about the sword when it was around. "Is there anyway to...'shut it off' in essence? Or block it out?" Hm, were there runes for that? Something perhaps Malik or Piper could do without harm to themselves, what with the way they weren't conditioned for anything even close to adept levels.

"Not for me. The blade and I are far to intertwined to shut it out or off. Piper coudl probably block it, but then she'd complain she was shutting out a part of me, and she doesn't want to do that. If I coudl give it a different feel to her perhaps, something less obviously violent or 'dark' that might help, but I haven't the first clue how to get something like that to work."
PostPosted: Wed Jun 21, 2006 1:41 pm

"I wouldn't call it complaining. Bonding is a...rather intimate thing, it's quite easy to understand why she doesn't want to do such a thing. Not too much fun when done and it does generate a less than pleasant feeling. Take it from someone who knows, Malik."

Again she crossed her arms lightly in that manner of hers. "A harmless enchantment, a rune, a mere substitute mental wave or link. There's always going to be more than one solution to a problem. Not that I'd call this too much the problem as more of a concern."

And who would of thought she'd be having this conversation with Malik?

"A harmless enchantment, or a rune, or a replaced mental wave that I have to keep and maintain every second of everyday, wake or sleeping, and make sure that she doesn't detect it as such. or I get fussed at for trying to shut her out of a part of me, which is the blade. She's stubborn enough about it when I suggested simply blocking Malvolence from her mind. It's a part of me, and she refuses to be ingnorant or shut out any of me, good or bad, wether she finds it distastful or not."

A slight grumble.

"She wants to feel the blade, but hate what feeling the blade means, or my use of it in any way."

PostPosted: Wed Jun 21, 2006 2:16 pm

"You're rather cynical about this aren't you my dear boy?" Funny how when you were a parent you could all the one marrying your daughter that, even if he was older than yourself. "Well...something has to give then doesn't it? If it's not going to be the blade, it's going to be her."

She tapped her fingers on the leather braced on her forearm a moment. "So then...you've been dealing with this blade and her for years now, she's always had a distaste for it, but recently it's just gotten worse." Fianna clicked her tongue in thought. "Still young and still a lot of lessons to learn even if she's learned ones thus far that shouldn't be known to her. This is one more she has to learn if things can't be changed. Piper...is just going to have to live with it. If she wants all of you, she has to have the sword then too."

"After all, I'm sure you're not always thrilled about her collar wearing but you live with that, right?"

"Yes, Sevilin has used her collar as a way to attest that he doesn't have to respect her. and Though I would never use that collar on her..it is still a show of servitude. and she is not my servant. she is my equal, and hell, in some cases my better. So I hear about my PR skill. But getting her to remove it is near impossible. severing Innoruuk's finger woudl be easy in comparision. her neck injury was the first time in over twenty years it's been off her."

A slight grin.

Broog didn't have to look, didn't have to stop his working, a huge eyeglass on his head making one eye look enormus, etching on a peice of jewelry.

"Sumtin iz bodderin da mistrez. Can Broog helps?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 21, 2006 2:51 pm

A raised eyebrow at that grin, not quite sure what she was to make of that really. Though her tone did go kind of flat. "Yes well...Master Inthara does have his own ways of thinking and I doubt he deviates much from him. If I hadn't heard the word collar, I myself would of thought it was merely a piece of jewelry. Though I doubt his thinking extends that far." Funny how even if she didn't like Sevilin she still showed him respect as her peer. Though it did taste bitter.

Back to that light hearted tone that was Fianna's usual. "Well then Malik, you have your equal ground. Your sword and her collar...things that make you who you are now and both things neither of you want to give up." One of those little 'this may not be a good idea but it may help' looks. "Let push come to shove. She doesn't enjoy your sword, you don't enjoy her collar. Somethings in life you have to just be cohabitated with as best as possible. You just can't let each other feel bad over it all...reassurance and a little show of such can go a long way, dear."

She was already rather busy, knife working at that halved piece of stone she had while she had metal melting nearby. She had to pick complicated designs didn't she? Well...she didn't have to do this one, the one she needed was done...but she was looking for a little something new. Little chisel and hammer in hand she was concentrating at wearing down stone along the lines she had etched. Though her attention went up to Broog a moment with a little sigh. "You're helping Broog. You just don't know you are." He was...after all, she knew around him that she would be left alone if she really wanted to be such. "Just the same old problems, nothing to worry about. We'll both cool down...and I'll apologize, and then watch my surface tendencies some. Things will be fine." Again with the positive attitude.

"Fair enough. But...I have a question for you. Piper's little pet project...any hints or clues you can drop to help me decipher this little riddle she has tossed in front of me? and Master Sevilin will get what's coming. while I know better now about runes, I'll fix that room and then he'll learn what real pain can be if he keeps up his insults and insolence."

Broog snorted lightly, and kept working.

"Why dos da mistrez gots to apoolgize all da time? Mistrez is who mistrez ish. and Master lubs mistrez as she ish. Broog doesn't understand why teendasees are a bad ting. and Soomtimes da master shoulds apoolgize. Master ishint perfeckt."

"Again confident in yourself. You may cause him hassel for a while but as long as you use Andalian runes, they are subject to his own manipulations as well just remember that." And then a little chuckle at him, raising a hand to brush over the tattooing on her cheek before tucking a piece of fallen hair behind her ear. "Let's just say...it involves fletching."

Checking grooves again, working stone a little more until it was smooth, running a fingertip over it to make sure before fitting the two halves together, binding them with a leather strap, that she usually used for her guantlets, and let that one join the other on the work table, checking the metal once more she was letting melt. Eh...a bit more. But a look to Broog again. "No one is perfect Broog. And I apologize because I'm the one who's wrong. He apologizes..." Sometimes and when it was indeed his fault, though she was known to say it even if it wasn't. "Sometimes apologies work as a sort of...peace offering. And surface tendencies are bad because they just don't work sometimes. Life here is not the same, not as forgiving as the one up there." A little smile at him though, he always seemed to say the right things even if he know he was. "I know he does...but that doesn't mean he doesn't get frustrated with me sometimes, just as I do with him."

She glanced at Kieran for a moment and shook her head then resisted the urge to chuckle. It was interesting talking to Kieran, she knew he was a veritable storehouse of information and she could ask him just about anything pertaining to a wide variety of subjects and he could probably answer it. And if he couldn't, he'd get curious enough and find out the answer for her. She did consider what he said and nodded, "That does make sense I suppose. You see Drow are just the opposite. We don't seek to enhance our fertility but to block it or control it as it's not our choice to be pregnant every single time we have need of a man. Of course with instincts there isn't much choice but even those can be controlled." Pausing for a moment she tapped her fingers lightly. "Those allow for an increase in the desire for sexual activity, the very need to procreate filling th female in question. They can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks or even months and must be sated. A female cannot exist in any sort of harmony with her surroundings unless she gives into the body's basic need." She got a bit embarrassed when she realized she'd gone off on a tangent then thought that maybe he wouldn't mind. After all Kieran was always curious about something or other and he didn't know very much about drow. "Wormwood is the most likely ingredient that will be used. It allows for an increase in hormones which is why it's often in the potions that are given to the males. Got anything of that sort on the surface Kieran?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 21, 2006 3:49 pm

Kid in a candy store...though reserved about it. Of course that didn't hide the enthusiasm that glinted in his eyes at all but at least he wasn't jumping up and down about such a little knowledge exchange like a child. Kieran had always been that way though. And oh the filing of that particular information though a chukle at her at her little embarassed vibes she was sending off...embarassment was hard to hide after all.

"Makes sense, what with the 'reversed polarities' as we can call them. If surface elves had these instincts, there would be a lot more of us, now wouldn't there?" But a little nod...taking to thinking on his own knowledge of surface vegetation. Then a nod as he seemingly got it. "Red clover blossoms. One of thier workings being to help establish fertility on a more hormonal level." Hm...he wondered if Malik knew those little subtale signals surface elven women gave off...probably not.

"Red clover blossoms..." Well that was one thing she could check off her list now wasn't it? After all, wormwood was highly poisonous even to drow. And if it was poisonous to drow, imagine what it would do to poor Piper. But this new solution she was trying might just do the trick as long as the Ghastly moss did it's job correctly. She wasn't sure if it was supposed to be boiled whole or mashed up for the properties she needed and it would take trial and error to truly figure it out. "Where can I get them?" Probably order them specially from the surface which meant increased cost for Malik but he'd already made it perfectly clear that he didn't care if it cost him his sword, he was willing to pay it. "How rare are they? How long after they are removed from their source can they survive? Can they be preserved? What part of the blossom itself is used? The root? The leaves?" Yes, Zahara was full of questions. After all, she knew little to nothing about surface plants and Kieran was going to help her. "We also use moriah seeds, the ever popular spider plant, the Bural leaf, and the snakeflower. Though the latter is more popularly used in inducing the death of a fetus than stopping conception...."

"Bah. you're as devious as she is about this little project. Must be a common trait between mother and daughter. This does bring some other things that may or may not be within your experience, have you ever dealt with anyone, or anything, that has multiple personality disorder? Or any breed of human?"

He would like to get Fianna up to date are certain potential wedding guests, as Kieran probably got more informationa bout them from Piper's letters to home.

Broog only shrugged and nodded, finishing the ring and setting it in a case. the rign was made of two seahorses, facing opposite direction, an open clam for the gem holder and a pearl in place. other items were male and female oriented as well. looking like a ring, a bracelet, and a necklace set, in styles of underwater treasures or animals, higher class items, things relating to the sun and moon, and and the woodlands and forests. being set in a nice little display case...and by that was another with more eqyptian themes, and other high clas elvish designs.

Another chuckle from him as she started off into a little question marathon. Lucky for him, he was an attentive listener to begin with and he could answer those questions easily enough seeing as they were simple answers as well. See, he listened to Fianna. "Andal has them easily enough, usually grow in early spring. Not rare at all....grows all over the Leara plains in spring. They can be used fresh, or dried out...stored in the right fashion they can last for a whole year, just the blossom is used." Okay so then why weren't they more commonly used? "Not the best tasting things in the world, a light poison in high doses and doseages are normally hard to figure. One blosson only makes so much."

Another little chuckle from her. "Devious? Hardly...that's more information than you've gotten on the subject as I hear it, Malik." Though a little blink and her sobering at his little question that was paused to her. "I've been tempted to entertain the idea that some I know do, but in all actuality, no. No multiple personality claims." Then another little blink. "And I've never encountered a human, though I do know of them."

Tied together brick halves were set vertical and a rag was used to grab the handle of the little pot she was using, tipping it and pouring metal into the hole that was at the top of each one. Molds, now obviously. Taking care to not overflow or spill, letting the liquid settle some before topping them off before setting the pot back aside on heat. Well...now more waiting. Thusly she turned on the stool she was sitting on to watch Broog. He was doing an awful lot of little fancy making things. Usually he was working on swords and what not. A blink. "And what are you up to with all that fancy going on over there Broog?"
