Three days later, Cody was awake again. He seemed a bit started to find himself in a hospital bed and took a breath. He tried to push himself up into a sitting position, wincing at the weight on his arms. How long had he been out?

Dari looked up at the breath. He had become so used to sitting in this room with Cody unconscious that he didn't notice the movement at first. Cody was sitting.
He dropped his book. Again. His mouth fell open. Lori had said it might be soon!
"Love?" Was he seeing things again?

"Dari?" Cody blinked and turned to look at him. He reached for him. "Dari, I want to go home." His eyes trailed down Dari in silence for a long moment. "I love you," he said.

"If you can stay awake, we can go home." Dari reached out and put both hands softly on Cody's arm. "I love you too." A smile finally crossed his face. "How do you feel?"
He had already healed completely. His bandages were gone. There would be no pain, perhaps only a bit of lethargy from being unconscious for so long.

"Tired," Cody complained, and took his hand in his. "I missed you," he said. The nightmares had been terrible. It'd been as if he couldn't get to Dari.

Dari gave up on being polite to someone who had just woken up and threw his arms around the man. He began to cry. He pet the back of Cody's head.

Cody wrapped an arm around Dari. "Don't cry, love," he said, smiling gently at him. "When can we go home?" He asked. All he wanted to do was sit and hold Dari.

Dari snuffled and pulled back to look at Cody. Still hadn't gotten that happy-crying thing down, right? A sloppy half-grin crossed his face.
"Let me call a nurse. Once they get a look at you we can probably go. Lori too." The elf had been a great help over this time, but he was working at the moment.

"I love you," Cody said, smiling slightly. Oh, a nurse? "Alright," he agreed. "Hopefully they don't take too long. I have things for us to do." Like sit on the couch and snuggle for twenty four hours.

Dari did indeed call for a nurse, and she arrived shortly to take Cody's blood pressure.
"It's been five days," Dari said, "Three days since you woke up last time. Do you remember that?" Apparently he had been lucky to not wake up more than once.

Five days... Cody was baffled at the loss of time. "I remember monsters," he muttered. He took Dari's hand. "Terrible monsters. Is that what it's going to be like for me?"

Dari nodded. "That was it. It was just us in the room, though, and I called a nurse."
The nurse began taking Cody's pulse. Lori arrived.
"Welcome back," the elf said with a smile. "What what's going to be like?"
"No," Dari answered, "You'll just be you, but furry. We can get you a board like Toby."
As if on cue, Toby arrived. He nearly sprinted past the room, skidded to a stop, and used the door frame to pull himself inside. He looked worried, then smiled. "Hey! Always good to see my new protege up and talking!" He was pretty sure a sire didn't matter unless you were a member of a pack, but he still felt a little more deeply connected to Cody. Besides, how would he know? He'd never sired anyone before.

"Just you?" Cody asked. Huh. Hallucinations were one hell of a trip. He studied Lori. "I want to go home," he informed the elf. There was a crowd gathering! Oh, it was just Toby.
He reached towards him and beckoned him over. "Cmere," he said. He wanted to thank Toby.

"Once she checks you out and you answer few questions, you're free to go. Not a lot of newly-transformed people can do that," Lori said. None, if he was right in his memory.
Toby's smile broadened and he approached Cody. "I can't take it back..." he teased.
