A nurse pointed toward Cody's room, where the human was now unconscious, but not bleeding. His arm had been wrapped tightly.
Dari was sitting there in silence, holding the unconscious man's hand. Lori, who sat beside him, was the only one who looked up when Maia appeared in the doorway.

Maia thanked the nurse quietly and headed for Cody's room. She looked the man over, paused, and made a beeline for Dari--and Lori, by extension.
"Toby told me to come check on you," she said. Not in so many--well, not in any words. "

Toby had sent them? Dari looked up briefly, then back to pale, drawn Cody. He still couldn't believe that Cody had done this for him. He couldn't believe that he had broken down and let him!
Lori answered for him: "Cody's doing well. Everything's going as-planned. It just... doesn't look like it right now."

Maia looked at Cody. "No," she said, "it doesn't." He was so pale. Too pale? "He's alright?" She asked, then, looking to Lori.

Lori sighed. "As alright as you can be while turning into a werewolf. He survived the wound. That's the first step." Toby hadn't been mauling him, after all.

Maia took a seat next to Lori. "When do you think he'll wake up?" She asked. She looked to Dari, concerned. Hopefully, soon.

"Toby was out for almost six days, but he was in a lot worse shape," Lori said. "We've never had a willful change in HQ. We can only guess." Sort of like the likelihood that Cody would transform and want to murder everyone.

Six days? Oh... Oh dear. Poor Dari. Maia shifted and side-hugged Lori, then stood and knelt by Dari. She took his free hand. She wasn't sure what to say.

Lori returned the side-hug. Dari allowed Maia to take his hand and looked down at her. He offered her a smile.
"We'll be fine. I think I'm just a little shocked."

"Understandable," Maia nodded. She kissed Dari's cheek. "I know you two will. I'll go tell Toby how things are going."

Dari offered some advice. "Rub his shoulders. He'll be in pain. They'll let you take a step stool in there since you signed the waiver. If they don't, tell them to call me. We're the next two in rank."

"Will do!" Maia gave Dari a smile in thanks before leaving. She headed back towards where Toby was.
Two days later, Cody woke suddenly. He jerked, eyes wide as he looked around.

Dari was in the room reading. Toby had insisted he try to distract himself. His head snapped up when Cody moved. Already?!
"Love?"

Cody looked around, seeming to calm as his eyes landed on Dari. He lifted his good hand and reached for him.

Dari dropped his book to the floor and reached out for Cody's hand. He didn't squeeze too hard, but he did take it.
"Love! How are you feeling? Are you okay?" He still definitely looked terrible.
