*Uneasy, Maggie speaks up in the hopes that the subject might serve to diffuse an argument*

Ehm . . . year of our Lord fifteen hundred and sixty-eight.

And where I'm from isn't really any of your business, but since it's not a state secret, I'm about four and a quarter centuries down the line from Maggie. I'll trust you can do the math.

Late nineteen hundreds, then. *She concludes without missing a beat* Interesting. *she laughs, unable to resist teasing him* Prefer your women older, do you?

Oh, I was always an old-fashioned sort myself.

*he points at the sword* That looks real enough. I'll assume you didn't just come from a Sci Fi convention.

*Mel lifts an eyebrow, unfamiliar with the term* From fourteen hundred and fifty-four, actually. *she replies dryly*

*Maggie looks a bit surprised* Truly? I didna think there was anyone who came from anytime earlier than I did.

Ah.. So you really are an old lady. I'll be more respectful, ma'am. *bard smirks*

*Mel just laughs* There's a good boy, now. Though, really, one would think the sword would be more motivation for you to mind your tongue than my age.

*she turns to Maggie, rubbing her chin as she appraises her thoughtfully* You are not too far ahead of me, though. Closer than anyone else I've encountered here, at least. *still on the table, she leans forward . . . she seems to be inspecting Maggie's outfit* Well, you're clearly too poor for it, yourself, but tell me . .. are they still stuffing wealthier women into those dreadful layers upon layers of corsets and bum rolls and other nonsense? Yours does not look too terribly uncomfortable but I suppose you're not wearing all that much under it, are you?

*Maggie blinks, taken aback* P-pardon me?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 20, 2005 5:37 pm

*Bard's arm tightens around Maggie protectively* Now see here... whoever you are, if you think an attitude and a sword gives you the right to just waltz in and say what you will, you have another thing coming.

It's Melliandra, *She informs him, pleasantly, drawing her sword and pointing it at his throat* At least, according to the keyrack on the wall. What is this other thing I have coming, then?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 20, 2005 5:46 pm

*Maggie's eyes widen as she sees Mel pull her sword on Bard, her expression darkening abruptly* Ye keep away from him!!

Easy Maggie... *Bard says calmly, backing slowly away from Melliandra's advancing sword blade* There's nothing to worry about. We just got a little worked up over nothing....

*he raises his hands slowly in surrender*

Speaking of which... here.. read them!

*with a flick of his wrist he throws his notes in Melliandra's face and ducks away from the swordpoint*
PostPosted: Wed Jul 20, 2005 6:11 pm

*Mell puts her up arm in time to block them, though the distraction is still enough to let Bard get some distance from the end of her weapon* Ohhhhhhhhohohoho, aren't you smart, boy? *She strides toward him, though strangely enough, she's careful to avoid stepping on his papers*

Well, that bought you a few more moments. I hope you enjoyed them. Now, are there any limbs that you're less reluctant to part with? *she shifts her grip on her sword, angling it like she's ready to dart forward and run him through at any moment* I do try to be accomodating, you know. In fact, I-- *she cuts off*

My, my, what's this?

*While Melli was busy advancing on Bard, Maggie's managed to summon up a sword, herself, and now she's got it pointed at Melliandra's back* I told ye te leave him alone!! *She sounds both frightened and furious* N-now put yer sword down!!
