The ghost didn't look back as he stepped through. He took the baby from the nurse and seemed to thank her.

Well, that was how it went. Michael still smiled, and after a moment stepped back and let the light close. He had lost a lot of energy pulling it open, but the young man had taken over from there.
His smile fell.
He closed his eyes for just a moment and headed downstairs, invisible. "it's over."
"What?"
"I said 'it's over.'"
"...are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Michael, sometimes I think you're too good at your job."
Michael smiled softy, his eyes downcast, and then disappeared for the rest of the mission. Dari and Toby had a cleansing to fake and investigation to offer. Crosses, after all, only worked if the ghost itself believed in them.

It was difficult to call the family the next afternoon to tell them that the spirit was gone. It seemed impossible, and they must have had their own doubts. They had thought that it was a powerful entity after all.

Cody had been driven in to HQ by a rather nervous Dari. It would be a bit of a task to get Cody registered properly, but that would have to wait. He wouldn't be doing so well after this whole thing.
He'd signed the waiver. They had gone down into the restraint rooms. Max and Luca, the other werewolves, were already in their rooms preparing. Toby decided that it wouldn't be so bad to feel tearing clothing around his tearing muscles for his own dignity and slipped his hands into the restraint chains tethered into the padded concrete wall.
"You're sure about this?" he asked. He was about to be entirely unable to ask much of anything.

Cody was equally as nervous. When they'd arrived, his hand had found Dari's. He looked to Toby and nodded in silence. He needed to do this.
He was terrified, though.

"Don't take what's about to happen as any indicator of what you'll go through," Toby said.
Dari winced this time as his partner began to change. It was always a screaming, rending sort of event. Toby seemed to be holding some of it in for Cody's benefit, though.
"Everyone's going to want to step back," Lori said, guiding the small group into the corner too far for Toby to reach. He had to watch this, for research's sake. He really wished he hadn't had to. This seemed like a private affair. "Once the bit happens, we're going to have to get back over here as quickly as we can, with Cody if it takes effect quickly."

Cody's grip on Dari's hand tightened. He took a step back and didn't seem likely to let go of the alien's hand. He wasn't having second thoughts, no, but he'd always feared the idea of werewolves.
"What do I do after?" He asked.

Lori offered Cody a soft smile but was clearly trying to think of something to say. "...try...not to pass out?"
Suddenly the screaming stopped. Toby was standing upright, shreds of clothing hanging off of him like a bad movie. His brow was furrowed. He breathed out with a grunt. Well. Naked in front of others. At least he was furry.
A guard standing outside in the hall came in and offered Dari a cattle prod of epic proportions. Dari had to release Cody's hand to take it, but leaned in to kiss his head.
"You can go ahead..." Lori mused. This might be the worst thing he had ever seen. They'd have to wait and see.

Right. Try not to pass out. "Thanks," he muttered.
Cody looked at Dari and smiled slightly."I love you," he said. He took a step forward and closer to Toby. "You're alright with this?" He asked.

"I love you too," Dari said. He walked up behind Cody, ready to catch or comfort or electrocute Toby, whatever it took. He and Toby had, of course, already talked about this with and without Cody.
Toby went to point to his own chest, but his wrist was tightly clasped. He ended up just arching a claw toward himself. Him?

"Yeah," Cody said. He was scared. He was stalling. All of that training Dari had said Toby had had, would this ruin all of that? He didn't think Maia would forgive him. Let alone Toby, if he had to spend all his full moons like this.
"I'm ready," he said.

Toby nodded. Well. Here they went. The fact that Lori was here said how few willing werewolves they knew about. He tried to nod then to make Cody present... whatever it was he wanted him to bite. An arm might be easiest, but a leg would let him continue to do his job from home. Six in one hand, a half-dozen in the other...
The tension in the little room was palpable.

Cody offered his arm and closed his eyes. "Okay," he said. He was shaking, but he's been prepared for this. He knew it'd hurt. He knew he'd probably pass out. But Dari was here. That made the difference.

Toby looked at Cody's arm, then looked to Dari, then to Maia, then down to Cody's arm again. Alright. If he was really going to be someone's sire...
There was no use in waiting, right? It would just draw it out. He opened his mouth wide and bit down with decent force. He knew he could break bone and really didn't want to, so the bite was relatively gentle.
Relatively.
Blood began to run immediately. The crush was almost worse than the piercing, at first anyway. It would all come flowing in quickly.
Toby felt something in his chest. His lip furled up. He growled, but didn't strike. Lori reached out and pulled Maia back. The cattle prod clattered to the floor while Dari grabbed Cody to bring him away as well.
Cody would begin to feel the pain radiating.

Cody put a hand to his arm, wincing and crying out in pain. He allowed himself to be pulled back and took Dari's hand with his good hand.
The pain was just getting worse...
Maia didn't want to move away. She looked to Toby, worried for him more than for her own safety. "I...should go check on the cookies," she muttered. She'd made Toby something special for the night.

Toby then let himself fling against the chains and roared at the group. Dari looked to him helplessly. There was nothing he could do.
Cody would begin to feel ill. From the pain? His knees would begin to weaken.
"Come on," Lori said, "We should get him to the med bay." He stuck an arm out to loop around Cody's torso to help him walk there.
Toby shook his head, looked to the ground, and leaned against the length of his chains in frustration, not aggression.
