((in the desert somewhere... it's around dawn and they had just camped on a sanddune for the night. The lioness could be out exploring or something, or looking for the firekin that is with us, kolina I think... *can't keep these names straight!*))

The rumble of Jasiris hungry belly had awoken her atlast, her atempts to egnore the hunger and get some more sleep ruined. She stood up, streached and and gave a large yawn, showing off her glintening white teeth that sparkled in the hot sun. She made her way over to her Suku, who was already awake, and his mother Koho. She greated Suku, nuzzling his dried mud colored main, and purring slighty. "Couldnt sleep?"

The young adult's whiskered flared slightly, a deep rumbling purr coming from deep within his chest as she nuzzled back against his loves head, smiling widley at her before she smirked at her comment. "Yeah, but then again I've never slept too long..." Too add to that, a large yawn erupted from the males mouth, showing of his large fangs before he smiled at Jasiri once more. "Did you sleep well?"

Jasiri didnt dare tell her mate that she also had a disturbing nightmare. She knew he would get overly worried, but there really wasnt anything to be to concerned about. In the dream, Jasiri had been in some kind of unknown land. She had walked up to a large watering hole, a dead silence all around her. She had stared into the water for some time, until...the water had started to grow red...blood red. She had woken up from the dream in a cold sweat, panting heavily. But luckily, everyone else was alseep.
"Yes, very good thankyou. But im quite hungry. Would you like to hunt with me?"

A little smirk lit Koho's mug, now that Jasi was awake Suku's attention would be a highly difficult thing to catch. Not that she was upset by this, perhaps her and Mwali would get some quality time together, that is if the big lug woke up any time soon.... Koho's stomach was also a bit testy, but she had gone longer without food before and been fine, she wanted to wait with the little gathering anyway, sleeping forms were easy prey in a desert.... "You two should go get something to eat, but be careful, I know you know this area Jasi, but the shifting sands can be dangerous. And we don't know what is left of a starving pride of angry lionesses.... If you need me, just let out one of those adult roars you've got in you Suku my dearest." A little purr released from her throat as she bapped lovingly at her son. "If you find a harvest, unlikely in this place, bring something back for the rest of the group, only if you can though, we can always hunt for ourselves later."
Her gaze traveled momentarily to the rest of the slumbering lions. They must have been more exhausted than Koho had thought, it was getting well into the morning.... Oh well, it was better to be well rested and ready for a new day than not. Thoughts of meeting those vicious lionesses made her a little glad the group was delaying in continuing their journey, voluntarily or not. A sigh escaped Koho, what she wouldn't give to be back in the pridelands with her family and her mate right at this moment. For everything to be as peaceful as it had been before this plague.... Shaking herself out of her daydream the lioness turned her attention back to the matching couple, attentive to what their decision would be.

The lion smiled tenderly at his mate then shifted his attention to his mother, she was right, the gods only knew how many more Firekin lioness' would be left in the pride and obviously would be starving or angered at their approach on their land. Adult roar? He had never tried out one of his roars in this stage of life, never the less, he would only be allowed to use it if he and Jasiri where in danger, nothing more. "Alright mother, you be careful too incase the remaining pride come here...knowing the circumstances I doubt they'll be happy to find us here..." His voice was filled with worry and concern at thr thought of the red pelted lioness' coming here, with two juvenilles to look after, it would be hard to protect themselves and the pre teen little lions. However, with Mwali, Koho and Taka here, his doubts soon dwindled and he gave his mother a small nuzzle on her cheek before turning to his mate, only to smile and start to walk into the now heated sand of the desert, the sun starting to rise more over the horizon as the two lions set off for the morning hunt.
Meanwhile, in one of the small cave's nearer to the Firekin pride, a small dark shadow slept, well, pretended to sleep, sharp, vibrant red orbs glowing in the darkness before the living shadow slinked out of it's den. She was only a cub, ribs showing from the neglect of being a slave, a joyless, cruel grin etched across her small light gray maw as the scent of intruders and a change to her whole world, sparked her once thought to be gone, child curiousity. The sky was tainted orange and red with the rising of the sun, her pelt painted crimson because of it and giving the impression that she herself was firekin, only until she walked into the shade to reveal her normal, dull, dark gray pelt. At the sound of voices did she suddenly push herself to the ground, ears swiveling forward to hear the words of the 'intruders', but only out of curiousity, did she make a flaw that her tail stuck out from behind a rock and twitched tensely.
((Ish edited to add my little slave baby xd ))

Jasiri tickled Suku with her tail as she began to walk away from the others. "Alright Koho, we'll be as careful as possible." It was nice to have some motherly advice once in awile, but she knew her and Suku were abile to fend for themselves now. It took awile, searching the barren lands to find any source of food. "There." She wisperd to Suku, crouching low against the ground, her belly rubbing into the warm sand. There was a small group of gazelle, grazing as best they could in the desert area. There was only about six, all of them looking quite weak. Jasiri chose one of the older looking ones. "Ill go for the throat, you bring it down from behind." She wisperd to her mate. The hunt was on, and was over as soon as it begun. The rest of the heard had scatterd away by now, and Jasiri took a large chunk, savoring the sweet blood that ran down her maw.

((Koho? xp ))
The large lion smirked over their kill, stretching as he licked his blood stained maw, looking out for any of the Firekin females that may sneak up on them before he took a large bite out of the carcass and smiled at his mate lovingly. "That was easier then expected don't you think?" He said, a cocky grin lighting his features as he lay near his love and nuzzled against her neck softly.
Meanwhile, the little cub had crawled closer to the rock Koho was near, eyes full of curiousity and a slight rage as though these where her lands and not the Firekin, her bony little body slid along the sand as she hid underneathe the shaded part of the rock. This golden female had not noticed her? Hmmph, guess the Pridelanders where not such good hunters or trackers after all if they couldn't scent out a mangy slave.

A happy little sigh escaped the lioness as she watched her son and daughet-in-law, if lions could really have such things, meander off for their hunt. They were a competent pairing, Jasi was just perfect for her little Suku, she would keep him from getting such a large head. The sand was a bit uncomfortable under Koho's golden rear-end, so she flopped down onto her side, hoping to spread the heated surface pressure out to be a bit more comfortable. Perhaps they should have traveled during the night and rested in whatever shade they could find during the day... It might have been cooler. How any creature could live in this god-forsaken land was beyond the femme, it was far too hot and there was simply no relief from the sand, so much bloody sand! And nearly no food, it was certainly not an enjoyable place...
Despite her wandering thoughts, Koho was not deaf. Her muscles tensed, a bit of self-annoyance flushing through her at being caught so off guard. She was the only defense for the sleeping family around her, she couldn't go off into lala land when there was this much at stake! Shaking her head silently she kept herself from going off into a self-deprecating rant and focused on the here and now, protecting those who mattered most to her. Gathering herself up into a defensive pouncing position she could thank the sand for one thing, it was quieter than dry brush could ever be.... Her ears flicked carefully toward the place were the dusty scent was coming from, an adult lioness couldn't hid behind that large of a rock.... Could she? It would be wisest to surprise her when she wasn't expecting it... at least the golden huntress hoped she was expecting it. With a silent leap, not quite as graceful as Koho would have wished, sand was slippery, she landed on top of the angled rock and look haughtily down at the lioness... a young cub! What sort of trickery was this?!? She was just a dirty little cub! Never the less Koho didn't lower her guard and let out a low growl, "Need something princess?"

The small cub was caught of guard for one thing, her bright eye's widening in fear at the slender golden figure before her small snout wrinkled back in a pathetic little roar, that sounded more like a squeak. However, at realising she was too quiet her ears swiveled back and she looked up at her, back arching in a small pounce like position as her thin, scraggly body showed more. "Only doing my duty outsider!" She snapped, eyes narrowing slightly, she was much smaller then her, much smaller, but she wasn't giving up her position.

"Aren't you little miss perceptive..." Koho's tone was droll, she had obviously scared the poor thing, what with her giving up that pitiful little squeak, but what was she to do now? It wasn't like she could trust a lion cub, a fairly rude lion cub, that she found in the firekin land.... But she was such a cute little thing. Was she a slave? Might as well find out.... "You look oftly gray to be Firekin bred... and skinny. What sort of duty could you be doing? Not very good at a watch are you, seeing as big ol' me snuck up on you, after you snuck up on me I'll admit...." The lioness had to give her that, but it was only because she had been caught reminiscing, an innocent mistake to make! Her mind told her that she should really get rid of the cub so she couldn't summon the lionesses or some such folly, but her instinctive nanny-nature was demanding that she do nothing to harm an innocent cub, that would sink her to the Firekin level wouldn't it....
"So what do I have to do to keep you from yelling to whatever pride you serve," for Koho had guessed that this little thing was a slave, of some sort, it was a lot like what Jasi had looked like when she had come staggering up Priderock with Mwali and the gang, "that a group of outsiders have come into the lands?" Koho would prefer not to be responsible for blown cover and there fore she would do a lot to keep this shadow-dancer here, perhaps she would join their group, or she could leave once the Pridelanders were safe. Koho had taken on the responsibility to protect this family and that's what she was going to do, but she didn't have to hurt anyone just yet to do, she hoped.

The little cub scoffed slightly, she was a slave, if that was too hard to realise for the older lioness, her soft red eyes looking on her pathetic lanky form, ribs showing through her soft baby fur that had been tarnished through many moons of beatings, dust storms and neglect. Her attention turned back to the golden figure, still cowering slightly at the huge form before she straightened herself up and sighed. "Don't worry...I only came because I was curious...it's not everyday we get outsiders..." Her voice was choky now properly heard, the sign of a dry throat and a thirst never truly quenched for so long. "Besides...you smell a little bit of Firekin...obviously from the red one lieing over there..." She said, pointing her paw over to Mwali's sleeping form, a heavy sigh escaping her. "And as you've obviously guessed, I'm a Firekin slave and anything they say I have to do, so don't worry yourself..." The tiny female finaly walked into the scorching sun, pupils becoming drasticly smaller and making her wince at the brightness that now filled the sky.

"Yes it was. Your getting so good Suku." She purred. How about we try and take the rest back to the others, its not far off." She said, grabbing at the hind legs, and dragging it a little way. When they got closer to the group, she noticed something not right. There was a small graish figure, which was not there before. She hurried with the carcas, and droped it a couple feet away. She looked this young cub up and down. She could not help but feel sorry for it, if it was firekin or not. It was so small and weak looking. It seemed as if it didnt get food in its little belly she would be dead soon. She had come just in time to hear that the little cub was a slave. "You poor thing." She said. She had always felt simpathy for slaves, after almost becoming one herself. In instinct, she layed down next to the cub, and began to slowly like away the dirk and clumps of fur and blood on its weakened body. "Would you like some food deary?"
