I am unfamiliar with the flying squiggoth...
I do own the Gargantuan Squiggoth. I am so proud of it, I don't even want to try to pain it. I will do very badly... But I want to get it done eventually.
I want to get a Fighta Bomba, eventually.

Spawn More Overlords Azimaith Spawn More Overlords I want a grot catapult. Until I can use exploding grots as an ordinance weapon, I'm going on a hunger strike. xp You can always use Grot Bomb Launchas. They seem like they'd be a shoe-in for the next ork codex. Well, the thing is... I don't do forgeworld. I don't have THAT much money. Well if your playing Orkz you should be Kunvertin' most of what you make anyhow. Take a gobbo from fantasy with its riding legs and stick in ona hunter-killer missile or Tau Seeker missile. Or better, make him a little hang glider out of brass tubing and then use small plastic rods from plastruct and paint them read like Old West style TNT. Then all you need to do is plant him on a vehicle. Other options: Other options: A grot with an open parasailing parachute covered with explosives and an ork with a rotary fan smile A grot on a kite with explosives. A good ol' fashioned grot catapult. Who needs forgeworld! After all its not like you need to make dozens of them, 1 or 2 should do it for an army with no trouble..... Excuse me but I have to go get out my bitz box now smile

Spawn More Overlords What are the stats on a grot bomb launcha anyway? Not that we can give them out, but suffice to say they're in the newest Imperial Armour (Update 2006), as both an independent weapon (that is, a battery of three fast vehicles so equipped) and a vehicle upgrade. It really similar to an Earthshaker cannon, only you re-roll the scatter die if you don't like the first result and you only get to fire it once per battle.

I have a BIG question, what should I take, a looted Hellhound, or a looted Basilisk? I'm worried that the Basilisk's 36 inch MINIMUM guess range would overshoot almost anything on the sizes of game tables I usually go out and play on at Games Workshop.

That is a good question. I love my looted Basilisk. And the 36 inches has never been a problem for me. I tend to play on longer tables, so it suits me fine., But I do have a back up, a looted Leman Russ Demolisher, for smaller tables. If you use indirect fire, it is possible to hit at 30 inches, but thats with a luckily failed hit roll.
Again, larger tables, its king. Shorter tables, still useful for destroying freshly set up troops. My basilisk has a reputation for hitting more than scattering, and is the bane of my constant opponents. Sometimes I bring it in just so I don't have to worry about Deep Striking Terminators. They are too busy going after the Basilisk to kill my Warboss with their power weapons. Then I swamp their Termis with boyz, and let the choppin' begin.

I run a looted demolisher.
I love it, either it acts as a massive fire soak (savin my boyz) or the enemy lets me turn his precious army into meat sauce with it. However when it immobilizes itself it just a big point sink.

The "massive fire soak" is an oft overlooked army feature. Most folks are so scared of the Demolisher, they even let your boss/skarboyz/cyborkz to slam into their lines unmolested while they try and stop your mediocre tank. wink

I actually play another game with my orkz just today. I got to say, my demolisher was my star player against the necrons.
Theres nothing like a necron teleporting his lord and and nearly dead necron squad through the lith (and all getting back up practically) only to blow them all to hell and instantly drop his lord with a demolisher shell. S10 is not to be underestimated.
It also really aids a speed freeks army in the fear department. As mentioned many times before, nothing quite intimdates like the barrel of a demolisher staring someone down.
Another thing i've noticed is that because of its relatively high armor value, it can excel with a turbo boosta and a red paint job. When they take off the demolisher cannon I like to plow it head first into their lines and start lighting up squads with the flamer sponsons. After all it doesn't require me to roll on BS2 and with a 24" range i'm generally rather close to begin with.

In a similar story, I spent one game chasing some infiltrating scouts around with the hull-mounted heavy bolter on my looted Bassy after the Earthshaker got destroyed. It was awesome.
Did I tell this story once?
