I did all the loyalty missions.
Honestly, I'd have preferred if Miranda died. She's easily the blandest character in the game, and I hated her guts from the very beginning. Thank the gods I don't believe in I'm a FemShep player.
I don't mind characters dying(makes the ending more interesting), and I don't care about trophies/achievements in the slightest(IMO, the absolute stupidest thing to ever be introduced to gaming that isn't named Jin Kazama), so I just picked characters on a whim. I just wish it wasn't Jack that had to die. T.T

I lost Miranda and Mordin. I was kind of depressed to lose them. I liked Mordin, and well I kinda wanted all the characters to live you know?

nobody died 1st time biggrin you also gotta buy the ship parts trachea or else some people die regardless. and jack was one of my favorites in the game. dlc isn't worth it though. id watch it on youtube than pay for an extra hour of gameplay:/

@Monkey: I bought all the ship parts. Eh, maybe I just suck. *shrug*
Also, isn't that pretty much how all single player DLC works? I got the PS3 version though so most of the DLC comes preloaded anyway. The ones I did have to buy were worth it though.
@Fallen: Mordin is hands down the most awesome character in the game. I would have bawled my eyes out to see him go, especially since he'd be absent from ME3 if you use that same file.
Honestly, I kinda wanted Tali dead from the start. She's not a bad character, but her voice annoys the s**t out of me. In that respect she reminds me of Kat Von D; I'd totally plow that, so long as she shuts the ******** up.

I kinda want to play through both games again, so I can make the outcome how I want it to be (That means Ashley is gonna ********' die in the first game bitches!) As well as make sure Wrex stays alive.

I do dislike the fact that MaleSheppard is stuck straight, they should remove that since DADT has been repealed

@Keith: I remember them saying something about when they originally were working on it, both Shepards were bi. But, I guess whatever you are talking about made it to where only the FemShep can be bi.
@Trachea: Huh. Strange. How did Jack and Zaeed die? The only thing I can think of is maybe you picked the wrong people during certain parts of the mission. But other than that, I have no clue as to why they would have died. O.o
@Agent: Nobody died my first time either. I will have to be honest though. I got Mass Effect 2 a little on the late side(Like, Six months after it came out?). So, my friends who had already beaten it told me that I needed to do the loyaltly missions, blah blah. So, I do admit I had a bit of an unfair advantage.
@Mordin: Yeah. I felt that way as well. Though, I do have to say I'm slightly along the lines of Trachea in that if I had to make someone die, it would either be Miranda or Jacob. Probably Jacob more than Miranda though. He kinda reminded me of Kaiden....which bugged me. :/

I initially did not like Kaiden, which resulted in me killing him. Frankly, when I played ME I rolled a Sentinel (Tech/Biotic), Garrus (Combat/Tech), and Wrex (Combat/Biotic) so I essentially wound up with a really well balanced party with some epic firepower. I got all the characters I needed and used just those two, and I kicked some serious a**. ME2 I rocked Grunt and Jack. I just disabled robots and shields, then wrecked bitches.

I picked Tali as the tech expert to crawl through the vents because I assumed whoever did this one might die and, as mentioned before, I wanted that b***h dead. I picked Garrus to lead the second team the first time and chose Legion and Jack as my party(I'm an infiltrator). 2. I chose Samara to be the biotic shield, I still had Jack on my team but I switched out Legion for my second favorite character, Kasumi. After they made it out Jack was eaten up by the swarm thingies and I nearly bawled my eyes out, as Jack was my favorite. 3. I had Zaeed lead the second team the second time and he was gunned down in rather badass fashion. 4. I had Thane escort the Normandy crew back to the ship and he died off screen, which was really disappointing. If anyone deserved an awesome death it was Thane. My party by the end was Kasumi and Garrus. I may or may not have forgotten something.

Ok. From what I remember of when I did it, there really is only a couple of things we diveted at. I'm not sure if they are major factors. Might, they might be the reason. But, just as a reference, I did the loyatly missions and brought all the ship parts.
1. I choose Legion for the tech expert. I picked Garrus, and had Tali and Thane with me(Don't take my word on that. I can't remember my second party member for sure.)
2. I choose Samara as well, and I had Garrus and Tali with me. Though, nether of them got eaten by the swarm.
3. I had Miranda lead the second team the second time.
4. I picked Jacob to lead the crew back to the ship.
5. My ending party was Garrus and Tali.
I think with Thane, you should have choosen Jacob. Because I was told to make him the leader of the group that took the crew back(And he didn't die). So, if you do another playthrough, I say try that and see if Thane lives.
Zaeed...You should have probably picked Garrus or Miranda to lead that team. Those two are considered the best second commands of the group. Try that and see if he lives(If you go through another playthrough)
With Jack...I really don't know what the ******** happened there. I was told to pick Samara for that part, and no one died. So unless you didn't have her loyatly and just didn't know it(Because I know you can lose either Jack's or Miranda's loyatly during that argument of their's, depending on your choice), I really don't know. Sorry. ><

How to survive the suicide mission:
First things first. Gain the loyalty of everyone.
Secondly, on your first push, you can take whoever you want, Preferrably combat oriented to ensure that you can push through without your tech dying in the pipes. And for Tech through the valves, legion.
For the swarm, Any Adept, either Jax or Samara, I picked Samara, mainly for what her skilltree was.
for the leader of the second team was Miranda.
To lead everyone back to the ship, it was Jacob.
My ending group was Garrus and Wrex.

I've never mass effect- is it an online game? cause it sounds kinda fun... I supose i should ask what system it's on too....
in other news... I lost thrirty bucks at work last night. scream going to give my coworkers the benifit of a doubt and assume it fell out of my pocket whist i was working out in the main store. not that i left it on a table in the breakroom near my stuff and that it was stolen. so friggin annoyed about it. stressed

@ trachea i didn't really purchase(or remember purchasing) dlc that much till mass effect 2, where after the shadow broker i was like "you know what..this may not be worth it game hour wise." but it was still good. I like Mordin as well lol and was a fan of Tali since number 1.
@fallen wrex was straight beast in number 1. sucks that you can't play him in number 2. I think that in 3 they should bring back every1 to play with regularly. If this is the last time, lets go out with a bang w/ everyone, not 5 minutes with him or her then we may not play them again
@keith sheppard will be able to hook up with the boys in number 3 biggrin . but it was only after some person called them out on it i believe. my thing is like "if they wanted him to be bi, wouldn't they have done it in the 1st game?"
@alice i got it wayyy late lol. my friend told me the last mission was insane and indeed it was. right after seeing where the omega 4 relay was on the map i was like O.O. then entering the omega 4 relay burning_eyes mrgreen
@Argent mass effect is on xbox 360. gooood game. play it naow and number 2 naow

I honestly believe Jin Kazama is the absolute dullest and least interesting or compelling video game character ever made(just above Kratos and Cloud Strife). But apples and oranges.
