Jamie grinned. Jacen and Penny could be a fun couple. Provided they didn't kill each other. Besides, he thought. Jacen doesn't seem all that bad. Then again. . . I've never seen him in action.
"I don't know if I'm going. . . I mean, I'll have other chances. At least three, so why make a big deal out of it?" Jamie took another bite out of his sandwich.

"Well, as long as our philosophies don't come up, it will be fun... and I have to stress that this doesn't make us a 'couple'," Penny smiled, "You guys should all go, it would be fun if the whole team went. It's my last prom, I'd love it if everybody was there to hang out with."
She noticed the new girl leaving the cafeteria, "Why don't one of you ask the new girl? She seems nice and she's probably feeling pretty lonely not knowing anybody. I don't think Gen has a date either. Although, I think Bobby Drake has been making eyes at her."
"Really?" Regina asked.
Penny nodded, "If you want to know the gossip, you come to me. People tend to forget to shut up when I'm coming down the hallway."

Regina laughed. "And I can hide in shadows and get gossip that way. But I don't usually care that much... huh... Bobby and Gen? They both have the ice thing going. It could work."
"That's what I think." Penny nodded her agreement, looking around for the other girl. "Where is she anyway?"
"I think she has a different lunch than us. But she can't escape at the mansion." Regina answered, looking at her watch. "Oh s**t, lunch is almost over. And I agree, it'd be great to have everyone there. Afterall, it is my last one too."
Gen wandered the hallways of the school, not sure just where her next class was. ~I think I'm lost... well damn. I always did have a poor sense of direction.~ she sighed to herself and looked at the paper in her hand and then the doors. She wasn't even close to the right number. ~this is going to be a long day...~

Teagan sat alone at the lunch table, her headphones hung loose around her neck as she stared down at the colorful assortment of blobs that were supposed to be called food. Her first day at this school, and already she was despising it. She blamed it all on her father. He kept her away from her mother while she was dying. He yelled at her for being kicked out of school. He moved her across the world, only to deny her as his daughter. Then he died. Now she was her, dancing between foster families because of her mutation. One shock, and poof, anyone around her was rendered unconcious. "Atleast I've gotten a wee bit o' control over it." She muttered, pushing a bit of Jello around with her fork. She sighed softly, running her fingers through her chemically straightened hair. She hated the curls that she was born with. Hell, she hated almost everything she was born with. Her family, and this so called gift. "Here's to the life of a loner." She groaned, downing the rest of the milk in the little carton before disposing of her lunch tray and heading to her locker to get her books for her next class.

Matt's legs dangled off of the side of the school roof, his coat was on the floor below him but he didn't seem to care. He could feel the sun on his face as he layed their, his eyes closed and his arms under his head as a cushion, but more importantly he could feel the energy flowing through him. His golden-feathered wings ached slightly, forcing them under a coat for several hours would do that, but he could ignore the pain. Somewhere below him, he knew that the others would either be finishing lunch or heading to their next class but at the moment. He just wanted to rest.
"Until someone sees you on the roof... Yeah, great idea!"
He spoke to himself, he seemed to be doing that a lot lately, and shook his head slightly although he agreed. All it would take is one person who saw his feet and there would be a ladder prepared to figure out what was going on. Sighing slightly, he stood up slowly then took a look around before climbing down from the roof on a flight of shimmering gold stairs that appeared before him. Scooping up his coat, he put it back on and headed back into school.

"Well, food for thought, guys," Penny smiled and picked up her lunch tray, "I'll see you all after school."
After throwing it away she headed back to her locker to grab her clothes for gym class. It was nice not encountering somebody who had it out for her once that afternoon. If Penny wasn't such a nice person, she would have liked to confront any one of Miranda's friends... but she had no beef with them really. No sense in seeking out trouble when it was apt to find her itself.
"Hey, Kitty," Penny nodded as they both lined into the girls locker room, "What do you think is on the menu for today?"
She shrugged, "Probably going down to the track. I hate this class. We get enough excercise after school."
"I think it's relaxing. We don't have to try too hard," Penny smiled and sat down to untie her boots. The new girl was sitting down at the end of the benches [OOC: That would be Danielle] quietly getting ready for gym class. Something caught Penny's eye when the girl picked up her water bottle from the ground. The water seemed to pool around her fingers in an unnatural way. Water mutation... Penny thought to herself.
She slid down the bench to the new girl, "Hey, you're new here, right?"
The girl nodded, "Yea, I am."
"I'm Penny, nice to meet you," Penny put out her hand after buttoning one of the polo buttons according to school gym uniform regulation.
"Danielle," She said and put her stuff back in her locker. Penny couldn't help but notice that she had one of Xavier's cards in a semi-transparent pocket of her bag. They all had one of those cards at one time or another so they could find their way to the Institute on their first day.
Penny said quietly, "If you need a lift to Xavier's, some of us carpool after school. I'll be in the lot around 3:15."

Peeking his head out again, James yawned slightly and stretched before slowly climbing out of the dumpster. Adjusting his large trench coat with the hood sewn on it, he started down the street hunched over. Most people never bothered to take a second look at him, as the dirt on him showed enough to portay him as nothing more then a homeless man.
A small white rat slowly pops his head out of one of the large pockets, having James reach down and let his head with one clawed finger. The sunlight was a bit brighter then he normally remmebered, but still, he just strolled, passing buildings along the way until his nose catches the scent of a strange food substance. Looking up, he smiled at the building.
"School food! Bowel obstruction and so many things you can make names for, but it can never been seen as it!" Looking around quickly, he slowly began to sneak around the side of the building, his coat covering up almost all of him, unless someone was stupid enough to look at his feet covered in newspaper.

Jacen was almost to the cafeteria when he stopped in his tracks and and looked straight ahead. He was wanting to talk with Penance about the arrangments, but he saw that there were some of her friends there. Not that it was a problem, but he could tell they were arguing. Tempers were flaring, and Jacen was rather enjoying the energy reimbursement. For a second, he thought about going to just sit down, but decided instead to walk through the halls.
It's already time for ruffled feathers, he thought as he turned on his heel and headed to his right. He didn't get very far when he felt someone grab his shoulder.
"I heard a nasty rumor. You're going to prom with that Penance?" It was Avalanche.
"What about it?"
"It's just....isn't she supposed to be the enemy? That's what we were all taught."
"Yea? So? What about it?," Jacen asked, riling up Lance a tad.
"What about it is, maybe you're getting too soft. Maybe you should have just stuck to living on the Asteroid, being a little go-fer for Magneto."
Jacen was more than agitated at that. It seemed his instigative efforts had backfired. Without warning, he grabbed Lance by his throat and slammed him hard into a grip of lockers. All the while still holding him, Jacen looked him dead in the eye.
"Do not mistake respect for weakness, child," Jacen said through clenched teeth, "If you knew ANYTHING, you'd know that one of the first steps to defeating an enemy is getting to KNOW your enemy." He let go of Lance's throat and let him slide down hard to the tiled floor.
"Are you through being insolant, or am I going to have to repeat myself?," Jacen asked while looking down at Avalanche. The poor boy was coughing something fierce. Between coughing fits, Lance shook his head no.
"Never question my actions again, Avalanche," Jacen said as he helped him to his feet. "Now get to class. Lunch is nearly over." And it was when he said that, the bell rang, and students started to file towards their next class. Students, that within a moment's time, made Jacen disappear within a sea of people.

Regina took a few moments and slipped into the shadows to go back to the mansion. She was curious about the new teacher and it was the best way to figure things out. He may register fear in people, but that didn't mean he could see into shadows.

When John and Raine reached the house the came to find out that no one was there. John shrugged his shoulders. "Oh well, we'll just wait for the constuction works to come over here and get started on the house. The workers showed up five minutes later. After talking to the head guy about what needed to be done, John turned around and sat next to Raine. "Alright well the guy says it'll be done in two hours...No I don't know about you, but I'm not tryin to listen to all that noise for two hours... So is there any place you'd like to go for a couple of hours?"

OOC: Comment away, Reg smile Okay, I'm pushing ahead in time again. Hope nobody minds. I'd like to get to prom and the next plot soon.
IC:
PRINCIPLE KELLY'S OFFICE
"This is asinine," Kelly slammed his fist on his desk, "What was that display out there. Making a mockery of our student government! This isn't right and I bet mutants are behind it."
"You won't have that problem for long," A man with a fresh scar down his face laughed from a chair. This man was Ahab, a mad scientist of sorts. His hair was brown with one frosted stripe, his one leg mechanical from a run in with a hound experiment... Ahab won.
"Just make sure nobody gets hurt," Kelly said. This was his only restriction. Mutants or not, they were just kids. He didn't need any deaths on his hands, just the mutants exposed and zero tolerance put in place at Bayville High.
Ahab laughed and pulled on the chain of one of his telepath hounds who was almost a mindless drab of a person, "Don't worry, my pets know their job."

Teagan stood at her locker, placing a few of her books inside of it and removing a couple of books for her afternoon classes. She was just about to head towards class when she stopped, listening to the noise that came from the auditorium. She decided she'd stop by the auditorium, just to see what all the commotion was about. "Besides, I highly doubt anyone will notice if I'm a tad bit late for my next class?" She muttered as she wandered foward through a group of students, all gawking at some white haired boy on stage. "Pies, eh? Sounds pretty interesting. I suppose I could vote for him, though perhaps I should see who some o' the other candidates are." She said to herself, holding her books at her side. She looked around her, spotting a few giggling girls.
"Oh, look at Peitro, he's so cute!" "He's so charming." "Just look at him! He's so hot!"
Teagan frowned, looking back up at the stage. "I don't see what the attraction is." She murmured to herself, rolling her eyes as she looked at the commotion up on stage. She turned around, heading back towards the hallway to carry on on her way to class. As she reached the door, she spared a moment, glancing over her shoulder back towards the stage. She smiled lightly, quickly grabbing the door and pulling it open, hiding behind the books she carried in her arms.
