Selce frowned. She strode purposely in front of the orc and stared him in the eye. "It seems we are all of a similar opinion of each other's race. But not all of either is like that." She pointed at Tjaden and then to herself. "You shouldn't judge the entire race by the actions of some or even most." She said quietly before retreating back to where she had been. Her face was flushed with emotion as she really believed what she had said.

As the Citadel began to overshadow them Erron looked up silently, uneasy with the history Brurag had described to him, he had doubts about how well the Patriarch would consider his actions, whether he would be damned by them or be given a second change, He figured one way or another, things might not bode well.

Emboldened by the reaction of the sorceress to his story he stood tall and soared right back at her and said, "I watched humans slaughter, burn, torture, and enslave my family, friends, and mentors. Other human settlements must've seen such a large group of mercenaries marching across and could've at least warned my people of their coming. But no, as we bled and died, as we were locked up in cells, put on leashes like some kind of animal, everyone else turned a blind eye. Why? Because we were orcs and that meant we were less than them. I will not stop hating these humans until the day that my dreams are no longer haunted by the screams of the ones I loved and tortured by the sight of them being cut down....." He backed off a bit now, still boiling with rage as he remembered that part of his life. Under his breath he whispered to himself "Blood for blood."

Tjaden looked over his soulder. "Though I share your sentiments, Selce, Burag has his rights. Among the Orcs, what the human mercenaries did to his tribe is one of the lowest form of degradation we have. His call for blood must be answered by Orcish law. Under our cultural rulings, any member of the tribe to whom the murderers belong may answer for the crimes of the murderer him- or herself. Due to the inter-racial nature of this particular conflict, specifically that many humans are not part of a tribe, Burag could interpret the law to include any human as part of the same tribe. Only when his revenge becomes excessive does he break Orcish law and become suspect of possessing an evil nature."

Erron Spoke up bitterly "So to satisfy your honor you would slaughter as many humans as you see fit, whether they are women, children or battle hardened knights turned thieves? You forget one thing: If you consider all humans as part of a single tribe, then you do not realize that humans, dwarves, halflings, elves and orcs are all fair game to wandering bandits, zealots and slavers."
He turned mid step and began walking backwards so as to face Brurag and reverted to his more casual tone. "On the road over to reach haven we were assaulted by bandits in attempt to kill us all and take the caravan we traveled with, do you think they had any special regard for those among us who were human?" As his heel bumps into a rather unseen step he topples onto the stairs leading up to the entrance of the Cathedral "I um....think we're here."

The time is now 1:00 p.m. on Autumn's Grace 16
The group arrived within the Temple District, many people dispersing before them considering their two green skinned companions, though they made no move to cause trouble.
As they ascended the stairs leading to the Temple of Balpheron, the double doors slowly opened. Appearing from behind the large oaken portal was none other than the Grand Patriarch Beremond himself, escorted by the paladin who had assisted the party in the Market Square. The Patriarch seemed neither upset nor pleased at their arrival or their company, his expression unreadable. As they closed their distance, he finally broke the silence.
"Sir Jacob here has informed me of what has transpired in the Market. While I am aware that you were doing what was right and you have done so efficiently, so it would seem, you have caused a significant stir in the general population."
"It is not their fault, my lord."
"Be that as it may, Jacob, they are now the figureheads of the paranoia that has swept the city. I would ask that you all leave the city by tomorrow, to avoid further conflict and loss of life. I would suggest doing whatever you must tonight before you depart," he turned to Tjaden, "My good man, I would speak with you further."

Kal chuckled as Erron backed into the steps. He wouldn't speak against Brurag. He actually supported him. He was not attacking innocents, merely killing anyone who had the balls to attack him. He found it right. He agreed greatly with Tjaden's speech. Along with his own little spin. If this orc was up to killing people, he wouldn't mind looting their bodies. Their disgrace would be Brurag's enjoyment, yes? He wanted revenge, Kal could feed off that. He took a mental note to use that later to his advantage. He nodded to the Grand Patriarch. "Then off to The Mages?" he asked the rest of the group. Tjaden woud talk to the Patriarch, but that didn't mean they had to wait on him.

Selce kept her mouth shut for the rest of the talk. But she couldn't silence the thoughts in her head. 'Odd, something similar probably happened to some of the humans in the slavers party. They thought the same way and so another generation was polluted to think that was the way thinking should be.' She knew her assesment was very close to being correct but she still didn't voice it merely waiting.
As they reached the stairs and heard the Patriarch's pronouncement she frowned angrily. "Very well we will continue on and give the Dragon Orb to the Archmage as were were asked by YOUR city, and get the supplies we need then leave." She couldn't stop throwing in the emphasis on his city, the fact they had done something willingly to help the very place they had just been ordered to leave. She started to turn and walk away not caring if the rest followed or not. She was going to the Archmage.

Laren kept her mouth shut throughout the entire discussion. Burag's rage was his own to bear and none of them could stop the young warrior. However she did have a problem with the rest of the party just leaving Tjaden behind, "We may wish to wait. After all the Archmage did recruit us all for this mission and it would be rude all of us did not show up for the end of this."

Tjaden was honoured by Laren's wish to wait on him and felt a rush of pride at calling these people his companions. "I am sure the Archmage will forgive my rudeness this time, but I am eager to deliver the Orb into the hands of those that have the necessary knowledge to safeguard it. Please Laren, do not worry on my part, I am sure what the Grand Patriarch has to say is important. If I don't see you at the tower, Ill be sure to meet up with you at the inn." Tjaden gave a small bow of thanks to Laren, joined by a smile. "Your kindness, however, is not wasted."
Tjaden wasn't sure if his companions would want to speak further with the Grand Patriarch, but he waited patiently until Beremond was ready.

::As Erron stood and wiped his pants off he couldn't help but consider he was being a bit careless and it was unlike him to be so confrontational, he supposed he would bid farewell to Edge and perhaps request to hear some more of the rumors his Sensei observed about the Hermit Grandmaster.
He realized while listening to the Patriarch, Beremond was rather conflicted: On one hand the Paladin and Governor in him was glad that justice was given a fair chance and that no racial zealots were able to disturb the gentle balance the council worked to keep in check. On the other hand the respective sides regretted that due to the recent events, whether fictional or not, the party would be unable to safely stay within the city walls too long without risk of another attack, one from which there might not be a non-violent escape from::
He spoke to the small gathering "I believe the Arch-Mage will understand the absence of Tjaden, however...Addressing Tjaden I leave it up to you to decide whether you will feel safe returning on your own. To the Party After the Arch-Mage do what you see fit, I have to visit someone and inform the dwarven emissaries of what has passed in the catacombs. Once you finish whatever you want to do We'll meet at the same inn as before and try to get some rest...we might have to leave before the streets fill with the morning bustle."
((OOC does anyone volunteer to go visit that dwarven weapon smith with the sinew and that other broken thing we have?))

Brurag felt frustrated. The one called Erron did not understand that Mercenaries are not bandits. Someone paid them to eliminate his tribe. If it had been a simple group of bandits he would have hunted them. But this attack was intentional and noone attempted to stop the approaching group of mercenaries. He didn't quite understand the other orc's explanation of tribes and humans. Unless Brurag had been sorely mistaken all the human villages and settlements lived in the territory of one massive tribe, or as he heard them call it, a kingdom. Was this not the same thing as the tribes of his people? He would've voiced all this but he would save it for later as it seems they had arrived at wherever the party traveled. He simply watched the other events unfold, he did not understand what was going on but it didn't really matter much to him anyways. He was sure that he would pick it up as they went along or someone would explain it to him when they all had time to sit down and rest themselves.

Defeated Laren simply shrugged and began to move on towards the Tower, the party's next destination. There they would leave the Eye in hands that could control it, and Laren was most grateful for that.

"Farewell then, good folk. Thank you for your work, and your compliance."
Turning to Tjaden, he motioned his hand forward, signaling his desire to have the orc follow him and talk as they walked.
"Tjaden, you have acted with pride and honor, truth and justice. Your actions reported to me by Sir Jacob revealed your integrity and your restraint. You have upheld every virtue of a Knight of Balpheron."
Not turning to face the orc, he said aloud, clearly: "It is for this reason that I wish to make you into a Champion of Balpheron."
