Adele sighed a little and waited for him to return. She was glad Marius wasn't in the tent then, because she didn't want him to hear her yelling at Rue.

Rue panted when he was done. He felt terrible and he couldn't understand what he did to make himself feel that way. He slowly stood up. He even felt sore all over. He staggered back into the tent again since he vaguely remembered Adele being there.

"I told you to stay by the dune,"'Adele said. "You'd ruined enough by then, getting my brother captured! But then you had to come and kill everyone at the camp, even though I'd told you not to come! You shouldn't have interfered with that, it was an old grudge of theirs against me, and I had it under control! Why did you come?!" She ended up screaming at him.

Rue felt like something in his chest broke when she said that. He turned around quickly and fled.

Adele just sat there.
Marius saw Rue run out and ran after him. "Hey, Rue!" he called.

Rue managed to hide himself between some dunes, where he fell to his knees. He gripped his chest and closed his eyes, pleading that the pain will pass.

Marius ran after Rue and found him. "Rue, are you okay?" he asked worriedly.

Rue was like this for a few moments before saying, "I'm sorry master..." Under his breath repeatedly.

Rue kept repeating that same thing over and over, like he hoped saying that would make the pain of disobeying go away.
