The rumble caused by the Sandslash's Earthquake caused the lights around Mike and Keegan to flicker in subtle resistance to the tremors underneath. During the frequent earth-shaking attacks, Mike kept a nonchalant composure. After all, when one of your strongest Pokemon is a Steelix, you get used to all the shaking pretty quick. Plus, it felt nice on his back. Napalm however, was not as comfortable. Watching the pretty girl's Torkoal take hit after hit was almost too much to watch. The power behind those two were almost unreal. But he bet that Torkoal wasn't as strong as Nitro or Felsic.
What happened next was no surprise. Sandslash were tough, and Kasiya always had the ability to bring out the best from her Pokemon. It was only natural that she'd overcome this obstacle. Not to say he wasn't a bit sad to see Flannery lose, but in the grander scheme of things it wasn't that big of a deal. "Good job Kassie." he said as he stood up, keeping a tight grip on Napalm. He was starting to get quite large now that he really looked at it. Can't do this for too much longer. thought Mike as he plopped the Magby on his shoulders. He might as well enjoy it while it lasted. "You did good!" he said with a smile.

"It went well. Karri and Ebony both did excellent. Not a scratch on either of 'em," Mitsu said proudly. She didn't want to seem like she was bragging but she was rather proud of her Pokemon, whether or not Crenu's Pokemon were on a lower level or not. "Dinner? Um, sure, I suppose that's," she choked a bit, "do-able. . ." The idea of dinner with two familes and many other people slightly freaked her out. Even in her own home her parents were never there and these family dinners were nonexistent.
Mitsu smiled as Elekid popped out. What a lovely distraction with perfect timing. She reached down to give the little plug Pokemon a handshake. "Hey there Elekid!" she said cheerfully.
"I'm pretty good baby," Karri said with a fliratatious wink. She inwardly chuckled knowing that Flareon himself was joking. She herself, of course, was joking as well but she loved every moment of it. She was definately more playful than her trainer.

Seeing the new people Robin grinned at Kilik happy to see some one she knew, if not that well admittedly. Glancing over at the other girl Robin smiled and took her hand shaking it slightly. "My name is Robin, and the pokemon in straw hat over there is Monkey D. Luffy, you can just call him Luffy though." Glancing again at Kilik she gave him a thumbs up and laughed. "We did great! Luffy and I came in third place with our capture of Razputin the Yanma." She didn't mention Brook though, she wanted her newest pokemon to be a bit of surprise. Robin was a bit nervous at the dinner offer, Luffy could eat all the food in a resteraunt if left to his own devices. "Umm... I don't know... Luffy can eat a lot. I don't know how well he would behave either." Most people would have put their pokemon in a pokeball if they acted like that. For Robin though putting Luffy into a pokeball wasn't even an option, she would never put her first and for the longest time only friend in one.
Luffy who was balancing on Karri's shoulder when Elekid came out gave out a happy cry. The cool plug was back! Also there was a strange orange puffball, it looked really soft and Luffy wanted to touch it. Since Luffy had no impulse control he did exactly that. Jumping off of Karri's shoulder he landed down next to Elekid before reaching out and touching Flareon's fluffy mane. It was just as soft as it looked! Giving a happy squeal before he started to chatter again jumping up and down excitedly. There were so many cool things here!
Looking down at Luffy Robin could only sigh and hope he wouldn't pass out from excitement. That or irritate another pokemon to the point of attacking him.

"Fantastic," he said, "I didn't expect anything less." He crossed his arms over his chest. "Dinner will be fun. Besides, if you're not doing anything tonight, it'd be a way to kill time, Mitsu." Kilik laughed at Luffy's actions. "Well, then. I think Aipom will enjoy himself. I'll keep Elekid out so he'll have a friend to eat with." The trainer scratched the back of his head. The idea of having people around him had always been in his mind, but to finally have a group of friends that he could converse with comfortably...well. It made him happy. "Congrats on your Yanma. They're not too common around Hoenn so I've never really seen one up close. Though..." he gulped, "That's fine. I'm sure I'll see yours sooner or later, Robin."
He turned his head to M.A. "Think you should call your dad and ask if your family's cool for dinner with mine? Just so it's not tooootally last minute."
Flareon nearly jumped when Luffy touched him, but let the Aipom continue. It felt nice to be pet like a normal Pokemon, as opposed to the rough 'slap-pull' that Janie used to 'pet' him. It was so uncomfortable. "Oh, Gardevoir," he laughed. He stretched out and swished his tail around. Elekid shook Mitsu's hand and then climbed back up to Kilik's shoulder so he could look them all in the face. He looked at Aipom and smiled. "Ele!" he cheered. A good friend - a friend his size! How lovely. Today was the best day in his young life.

"Name's M.A.," the young girl exchanged, very amused at Luffy's actions. He was Ulani's kind of guy, she thought idly, figuring that maybe she'd let that mischievious little Swablu have some fun and meet some friends tonight.
"Ah, I woulda loved to see Ebony and Karri in action," she added, grinning at Mitsu. No doubt they would be ... well cool, for lack of a better word, to watch. With Karri's name, she glanced over casually at the Gardevoir, just sending a smile her way.
"I'll get on -- Oh, no need. He called me first," she said with a little laugh. She slipped out her PokeNav, which had been vibrating furiously in her backpack's side pocket. "Hi Pops. . . Yup! I'm fine. . . Oh, you knew? Yeah, I'm with Mr. Ranmo's son right now. . . Okie dokie. See you tonight then! Love you," she said, adopting a childlike fondness with her last two words. She loved her Daddy-o. He might dream about fossils, but he was the kindest man in the world.
"It's getting darker," the girl noted, having hung up. Indeed, the sun was beginning to slide towards the ocean, as if anxious to meet a long-lost lover. "Uh, Kilik, do you know where we're supposed to go? My dad didn't mention."

Keegan looked up at the flickering lights and grinned. That was it. Helios had climbed into his trainer's lap, shivering noticeably. He definitely felt bad for his fellow fire types and Flannery too, but the pretty girl Keegan liked had won so it didn't all end badly. He sat up happily, swaying back and forth while each of his six tails swished around excitedly. That is, until Kasiya came flying at Keegan and the Vulpix was forced to abandon post. For a moment the Vulpix's ears twitched in annoyance but the feeling soon passed, and he nuzzled her elbow with his nose.
"You were amazing," Keegan told her, returning the hug. "Congratulations," he added after a moment of just enjoying the feeling of holding her in his arms. Oh, if you're happy now, just wait Kassie, he thought, grinning broadly.
Both Maggie and Todd rose from their seats then, exchanging silent glances as they headed towards their son. "Nicely done, Kasiya," Maggie said upon reaching them. "You handled your Pokemon very well and both my husband and I are quite impressed." She looked up at Todd, still smiling. "You kids should all come back to the house with us," she added after a moment or two, directing the invitation towards Mike and Flannery as well. One could seriously question if Keegan was indeed this woman's son; as she was kind and cheerful while Keegan was most certainly not.
"Yes, I think that would be a fine idea," Todd said slowly, nodding. His deep, solemn voice was quite contrast to his wife's cheery, bubbly voice, but he too appeared to be impressed (a rarity, if there ever was one).
"Sounds good to me," Keegan nodded, before glancing at Mike. "You guys up for it?"

Kasiya giggled and picked up Helios, hoping the Vulpix wouldn't get angry and shoot a Flamethrower at her head. "Sorry about that, Helios," she said sheepishly. "Want to see?" she held out the shiny new Head Badge for the Vulpix to see. "Now I've got one too, just like Keegan," she added, beaming up at the redhead. She spotted Mike and Napalm out of the corner of her eye and she turned to her friend, still grinning. "Thanks, Mike," she said with a nod. "That has to be one of the best battles I've ever had," she added after a moment, now watching the not-so-little Magby perched up on his shoulders. He certainly had grown, as the last time she'd seen him he hadn't been nearly this big. It wasn't surprising though, as Mike was a great trainer and seemed to have a knack for raising Pokemon, especially Fire-types. Still holding onto Helios, she held out her hand for the Magby, wondering if he remembered her from that time she'd helped cure his poisoning.
Her cheerful mood all but disappeared when Keegan's parents approached them, and a wave of nervousness overcame her. She gulped, trying to act like she wasn't hiding behind the Vulpix. "Th-thank you," she managed finally, feeling a bit of a blush creeping up in her cheeks. No other words would come, though, and she only nodded at the invitation. All her things were still back at Keegan's house anyway, so she had no reason to decline.
Flannery shook her head as she stared at the floor of her gym, deciding she had no desire to repair it for the umpteenth time that week. She waved a hand at her gym trainers, indicating that they wouldn't not be doing her a favor by cleaning up this time around. Besides, a girl couldn't do all that hard work by herself all the time. Sticking her hands in her pockets, she withdrew a pack of gum and pulled out a stick before popping it into her mouth. Mmm, cinnamon! She made her way over to Mike in the others, showing no signs that she was upset over the battle. She really wasn't though, as the one lesson she'd learned from her grandfather, Old Man Moore, was that there was no shame in awarding badges to trainers who deserved them, and that Gym Leaders were lucky to be able to test trainers and their skills as they climbed up in the ranks.
As she reached her friends she lazily slid her right arm around Mike's waist and pulled him a bit closer to her, aware that he'd gained several pounds in the form of a Magby resting up on his shoulders. She'd arrived just in time to hear the invitation from Keegan's parents and she glanced at Mike questioningly. She had nothing better to do at the moment and lunchtime was still several hours away. She shrugged, showing she was game for about anything at this point.

Crenu still had an arm across his chest to put pressure on it and keep it from hurting when he saw a small group in the distance. Right away he recognized the lanky brown haired girl as M.A. And the elegant white pokemon with the green head was easy enough to spot, as was Mitsu. Getting closer he saw what looked like a Flareon and an Elekid, they most likely belonged to Kilik. But the Aipolm wearing a straw hat was a little odd, and that was when Crneu saw another girl with them. Thinking back he remembered seeing someone like her in a bug catching contest not long before he came to Hoenn. Shaking the thought from his mind he decided that this was unlikely and so he slowly walked over to the group. He let go of his sides and sort of sidled into ear shot. "Whos Aipolm?"

Helios let out a bit of a yelp as Kasiya picked him up and for a moment he really did consider roasting her, but Keegan shot him a quick 'don't even think about it' look and he reconsidered. He sniffed at the badge when she held it out to him and he nodded in approval. It wasn't the worst thing in the world, behing held by Kasiya, as her hands were gentle and she was careful not to squeeze him. He squirmed a bit but only to get more comfortable and quite soon the Vulpix was very content.
Todd glanced over at his son, deciding not to wait for an answer from Mike. He knew the boy knew where they lived if he decided to come along, and that was good enough for him. "Flannery, Mike," he said finally, nodding at each of them in turn. He looked back over at Keegan. "Boy," he nearly grumbled, nodding off in the direction of their house, "let's go."
For a moment Keegan just stared at him blankly, a bit confused as to what his father wanted, but after a few seconds it clicked. "Oh! Right," he nodded, turning on a heel to leave the gym. He stopped and looked to Helios but decided the Vulpix would be fine with Kasiya. "We're going off ahead. Yeah." Feeling a bit dumb he ran a hand through his red hair before yanking open the gym door and heading outside. The air felt significantly cooler outdoors rather than inside the gym and it was a bit of a relief. Plus, it didn't help with all the fire attacks being flung around. Keegan waited a moment for his dad to join him and the two then began to make their way back home.

Napalm let out a happy high pitched honk-link noise as he finally remembered who this friend of Mike's was. She was that nice girl with the Antidote from that time when he fought the Ekans that attacked Mike! A small rough tongue shot out of his beak and licked Kasiya's hand a few times as the Magby flailed around happily in his blissful young world.
Mike smiled happily as Flannery pulled him closer, but his grin changed to an uncertain scrunched up expression upon being invited to lunch. "I dunno," He trailed off, wondering if he really wanted to spend a lunch with Keegan and his parents. There was nothing wrong with them, they were great people. He just kinda wanted some alone time with Flannery before he ran off to train Napalm. Not to mention, Mr. Summers was always really awkward to hang around, and Keegan's mom was almost suffocatingly nosy. Then again, weren't all moms? Besides, he didn't want to push his luck with Keegan, they just started getting off on the right foot again and the last thing he needed was something accidental at the table. Then food and fireballs would start flying and it would just be a huge bloody mess.
Then again, he did have to swing by there anyway to visit The Dame, and seeing Kasiya was never a bad thing. And he did have a lot of the day left to hang out with Flannery, and Keegan's mom was really nice. He looked up at the tall beauty standing beside him and grinned hesitantly, pulling her a bit closer. "What the hell, count us in." He said with a smile, drifting his right hand downward to Flannery's. "You alright with that Napalm?" He glanced back, his Pokemon replying with a cheerful thumbs up. "You're always so 'go-with-the-flow'." Mike said with a slight chuckle, shifting his shoulders around so the Magby could get a better grip. "Let's go!" He squeezed Flannery's hand gently and the three started off for the Summers' house.

Kasiya giggled, obviously quite pleased that the young Magby remembered her. She wouldn't have been offended if he hadn't, as babies didn't always remember things from their earliest experiences, but she was glad either way. "Glad to see you doing so well, Napalm," she told him, doing her best not to drop Helios as he suddenly got very squirmy.
Kasiya then took one last look around the gym before heading outside. It was almost blissfully cool outside and she looked around, feeling like she'd been inside that gym a lot longer than she actually was. She thumbed the three familiar Pokeballs on her belt somewhat subconsciously, feeling bad that Shocker had missed out on yet another gym match. Almost as though she'd heard her name thought her Pokeball, Shocker released herself and appeared on the ground beside Kasiya. Kasiya was expecting one of two things to happen - either Shocker would try to jump up into her arms and find that some other Pokemon was there instead, or she'd simply zap Kasiya for leaving her at the laboratory for so long. She closed her eyes, waiting for the shock to come but opened them when it didn't. Shocker was sitting on the ground in the same spot, her ears and tail twitching anxiously while sparks rained down continuously from her cheeks. "Shocker?" Kasiya asked, looking down at her Raichu, who looked more pissed-off than usual. "What's wrong?" Shocker said nothing and instead scoffed, growling somewhat angrily as her tail began to lash around somewhat violently. "Okay this is odd, even for you," Kasiya murmured, looking around in confusion.
Flannery could practically hear the wheels in Mike's head turning as he weighed his options, but smiled when he decided to tag along. It would be nice to see her two childhood friends actually being friends for a change, as dinners at each other's houses was something they'd done a long time ago and quite often, too. Just like old times, she thought, closing the gym door behind her. There wasn't any need to lock it as all her trainers were still inside, as well as Houndoom. She looked over as Kasiya's Raichu made an appearance, wondering if the little electric mouse was always that grumpy. She caught Kasiya's confused gaze and shrugged. "Don't look at me, I specialize in Fire-types," she said with a shrug. "You're supposed to be the electricity expert in the group." With that she took Mike's hand and the two began to head towards the Summers' residence, leaving just Kasiya, Helios and Mrs Summers behind.
"I... am?" Kasiya questioned a bit skeptically as she once again glanced down at her Raichu. It seemed as though the mouse's attitude was growing more sour with every passing moment as she was now sparing with seemingly nothing, throwing punches and kicks at an unseen opponent. "Hmm. Some expert..." she murmured before pulling her PokeDex from her pocket and pointing it at Shocker.
"Raichu, the mouse Pokemon. The evolved form of Pikachu, this Electric mouse is capable of loosing 100,000-volt bursts of electricity. It often uses its long tail as a ground in order to protect itself from its own potent electrical blasts. If a Raichu stores too much electricity within its body, it can turn very aggressive. If this is the case, usually it will plant its tail into the ground and discharge the excess electricity."
"Okay now, well that makes sense," Kasiya said, closing the device and putting it back into her pocket, which was quite a feat seeing as she was still holding onto Helios. "Shocker, you'll feel better if you release some of your pent-up electricity," she told the mouse gently, hoping the discharged energy wouldn't be sent flying at her. Shocker sighed and nodded, closing her eyes before she let the tip of her tail sink into the ground. She took a deep breath and released a large burst of electricity, one in such a pattern that Kasiya had never seen before. It wasn't concentrated, like a Thunderbolt yet it lacked the raw power of a Thunder. However it covered a wide area and still seemed to have a lot of power behind it. Shocker breathed deep one more time before letting another blast go, just like before. Kasiya had to hit the dirt to keep her and Helios from being shocked in the process. Then, just like that, Shocker opened her eyes and looked up at Kasiya, grinning.
"There, that's better," Kasiya smiled, glad to have her Pokemon back to normal again. Shocker breathed another sigh of relief and scratched her tummy, looking up at Keegan's mother curiously. "Shall we be on our way then, Mrs....?" Kasiya asked, suddenly realizing she didn't know Keegan's last name. It felt odd thinking of such a thing as she didn't know any of her friend's last names either, with the exception of Kilik. How odd! And none of them know my last name either! she thought, finding the her inner musings to be oddly amusing as she walked along with Mrs. Summers after the others.

"You're welcome." Ryka flashed a small smile his way before sitting down on a couch. The Pokemon Center couches were surprisingly comfortable. "Sounds like a plan." Ryka nodded. Who would be at this festival? All their friends would, sure. But maybe.. some uninvited guests? Ryka switched focus back to the present time. "Yeah, that sounds great. Traveling with you again.. it seems like it's been such a long time! I've missed traveling.." Her voice trailed off. "Oh! I still haven't gotten to introduce you!" She reached down to the edges of her skirt and pulled the pokeballs off of their clips. Giving a glance to Nurse Joy, Ryka released the three Pokemon.
Iris appeared in a red flash and yawned. She immediately climbed up on the armrest next to Ryka, gave a small purr, and curled up. Out of the next red flash, Lilac appeared. The little Illumise looked up at Ryka, smiling. She then noticed the even bigger human next to Ryka. Her little wings buzzed as she flew up to greet the stranger. Ryka giggled as Lilac examined Jaeshan, but suddenly got distracted by the map in his hands. She looked over his shoulder and studied the map curiously.
The final Pokemon to appear was Thistle. The ditzy Gloom did a little spin and plopped down on the floor. Upon seeing Ryka, Thistle stood up again and started running towards her trainer, looking like she was ready to pounce. However, she then noticed Jaeshan, and decided to change her target. Thistle jumped up and practically /tried/ to devour Jaeshan's arm. "Ahh, no sweetie!" Ryka jumped off the couch and pulled the little plant off of her target, leaving a trail of slobber on Jaeshan's arm. Ryka sat back down and places the Gloom in her lap, tickling the sides of her body. "Sweetie, not everyone likes it when you do that." Ryka diciplined. Thistle looked up and smiled a goofy grin. No, she was never going to learn.
"I'm sorry about that, Jae!" Ryka apologized, pulling a few napkins out of her bag. She set Thistle on the couch and got up, handing Jaeshan the napkins. "She's still learning.." Ryka laughed.

Helios' eyes were wide as little saucers as he watched the Raichu's display of power. He couldn't help but silently thank Kasiya for making sure he didn't get shocked, as he was certain it would hurt. A freaking-lot. Once the electricity had been spent, the Raichu's demeanor changed almost immediately and the Vulpix couldn't help but wonder what kind of self-discipline an electric Pokemon had to have in order to store, use and control its electricity like that. It sort of sparked a newfound respect for Themis and Shocker, and any other lightning-wielding Pokemon he'd encounter.
"Well I must say that was certainly something," Maggie said quite excitedly, clapping her hands. "Your Raichu has a lovely, shiny coat, and such energy!" A few stray, and now frizzed strands of hair were sticking up at odd angles out of her bun, but she did nothing to fix them. "Oh, and it's Mrs. Summers, dear. But you can still call me 'Mom' if you'd like." She clapped her hands once again and began to follow after Mike and Flannery. "Oh, what are those boys of mine up to now?" she asked rhetorically, a hint of playfulness in her voice as she turned around to look at Kasiya. She waited for the girl to catch up before speaking again, although this time her voice turned a bit more serious. She clasped her hands together, fidgeting with the gold wedding band on her left hand. "You know, Keegan never used to be like that. All cynical and well, grouchy," she said sadly, still studying her ring as they walked. "Years ago, he and Mike were practically inseparable. They were the best of friends. And then with Flannery in the mix..." she laughed, a nostalgic look spreading across her face. "They actually used to argue about which of them would marry Flannery, but of course, we always knew that she and Mike had a connection." She chuckled, now smiling a bit. "But those three were always getting into trouble. They'd always cover for each other and there were times when none of us knew where they were, but they'd always come home, safe and sound. And then something happened and the three of them suddenly became very distant. Flannery practically locked herself in the gym with Old Man Moore and trained with her Torkoal and Mike pretty much disappeared from Lavaridge altogether. Keegan grew cold and distant, and he really hasn't been the same since that day. But then you... he met you and something in him changed. For the better, I think. I see him smiling and laughing again and it's just like before. I don't know how you got through to him, dear, and I'm not sure I want to know, but... thank you. Thank you for taking care of my boy." Tears were built up in the corners of her gentle, green eyes but she wiped them away and gave Kasiya's arm a gentle squeeze. "Now's not the time to be reminiscing though. Look at me, crying at the past like an old fuddy-duddy when there's a lunch to prepare and dozens of Pokemon to feed!" Her voice returned to its cheerful tone as they approached the house.
Meanwhile, Keegan and Mr. Summers had arrived already and were already making their way through the large back lot of the breeding complex. It wasn't hard to spot 'The Dame' from anywhere in the yard, as she occupied a corner pretty much to herself. She looked up at Keegan and Todd as they approached, snorting a bit as she studied the two. A slight trail of continual smoke drifted up from her nostrils, and she waited for one of them to speak. Todd cleared his throat and looked up at the Charizard. "She beat Flannery, hon," he said, shrugging his shoulders. All that's left is for you to size her up." The Charizard snorted and nodded, thrashing her flaming tail back and forth. Keegan looked around nervously, wondering where everyone was. He felt a hand on his shoulder and he looked up, a little surprised to see that it was his father's. "Relax," he told the boy sternly. "Or you'll set everyone off." Keegan frowned and stared at the ground, wondering if the day would ever come where his father would stop treating him like a little kid.

Mike turned sharply as he saw a stray bolt fly past his face, spinning around in a defensive position in front of Flannery, his gloves already activated and covering his hands in fire. He wasn't sure of the source, but he knew that Beacon wasn't out so it couldn't have been him. He looked around intently, waving his flame wrapped hands like some sort of cornered Kangaskhan protecting their young. To his surprise, the source was Kasiya's Raichu: Shocker. "Odd, I thought Shocker liked me." He said with a visible frown. What was even weirder, was that Kasiya and Mrs. Summers hit the dirt immediatly. There was no time for being upset, as Shocker charged up again and sent another wide arced blast of electricity tearing towards them. Clicking the knob on his right glove to Burst, Mike shot a short blast of fire, hoping to somehow cancel it out. No dice, Shocker's energies were too strong. He could send out Portabello and have him use Protect! No time! "s**t! Napalm, Psychic!" Stepping in front of Flannery once again, Mike ducked, the determined looking Magby jumping off of his shoulders into action. "Stay down Flannery!" He shouted. Nothing was going to get to her that didn't have to tear though him first.
Waving his hands, Napalm began gathering his mental energy, his body becoming wrapped in a bright blue aura. He thrust his small clawed hands forward, a circular wave of Psychic energy flying forward and crashing into the oncoming electricity. A small section of the attack broke, sending the rest of the electricity surging past the three harmlessly. The Magby landed and let out a huge sigh of relief, a small puff of smoke shooting from his beak.
Mike too let out a sigh, happy that nothing awful happened. "Thank goodness that wasn't a concentrated attack." After seeing Flannery was alright, he turned to his Pokemon. Napalm looked back at him with as much of a smile as he could curve that beak of his into. It almost brought tears to the his eyes right there as he ducked down and gave the Magby a great big hug. "I'm so proud of you Napalm. You've grown to be so strong." Mike heard his Pokemon let out his usual happy honk and squeeze him back, his little arms having more strength to them that you would expect from a two and a half foot tall walking lizard/duck...thing. The heat from Napalm's body was intense as the two pressed together, but Mike was too much of a sucker for moments like this to care. After a long embrace, Mike threw Napalm up on his shoulders, a giant smile plastered on his face. He'd chew out Kasiya later, no sense in yelling at her now. Taking Flannery's hand once more, they once again set out for Keegan's house.

"Please, call me Karri," she replied with a slight bow, but as slight as it was it still was elegant and beautiful. She flashed M.A. a brilliant smile as well. She is such a nice girl Karri thought absentmindedly to herself.
Mitsu grinned at M.A. a bit sheepishly, "I'm not that great of a trainer. But sure, maybe sometime later." She scratched the back of her head slight in embarrassment. "So where's this dinner thing?"
