Dari didn't respond verbally, but he snaked an arm around Cody's back and cupped the back of his head.

Cody stroked Dari's back, swaying slightly. "I love you," he repeated. "So much."

Dari swayed with him. It took quite some time before he finally spoke.

Thank you? For what? Cody hadn't expected this. He'd been prepared to fight. He pulled away slightly and kissed Dari's cheek.

Dari finally allowed himself to lean back and show Cody his face. He was definitely crying, but he smiled and stole Cody's lips, swill swaying.

Cody lifted a hand to wipe at Dari's cheek. Crying...and happy? He stroked his cheek and smiled slightly. "You're beautiful," he muttered.

"I love you too," Cody said, and captured Dari's lips. All he wanted to do was have Dari in his arms. "Stay tonight," he said.

Dari nodded. Of course he would stay. Cody had just made the pledge for forever, and all for Dari's good.

A few days later, another call came in from Reese. This time, he was demanding Toby. The nymph had had another growth spurt. She was annoying and chatty and ...bossy.
"Toby! She cries every time I don't do what she says and whenever I say no!"

"Well, you have to keep doing what's right rather than what the baby wants. She's tiny. She has no idea what's good for her."
He wanted to ask to see the baby, but Reese seemed to need him first.

"I don't know how to take care of a baby!" Reese announced. "I don't know what's good for her! She keeps refusing what I feed her. She isn't like a baby fox!"
The nymph reached for the beacon then. "My poppy!"

"Well, she probably doesn't have to eat much, if anything at all. I can ask Lori about that. As far as I know, nymphs don't eat meat." Ah, there she was!

"But she says she's hungry," Reese protested. "Okay, good. Can you ask soon?" He asked.
"I want story, Poppy!" The nymph announced, and took hold of the beacon. "I got a name!" She said, sounding proud. "Holly! Reese gave me it!"

"On it," Dari said. He got up and went to find Lori. Dari had been in a markedly better mood as of late...
Toby was surprised by the sudden string of sentences coming from the nymph who had previously been shouting random words.
"Well, listen to you, all grown up! I think Holly is a very pretty name. I brought some books." He always did, just in case. He began to show her the covers. Some were old favorites and some were new. The thrift store was a goldmine of kids' books.
