Interesting... What difference does the shape make?
Gods from other folklore? I recognize the names vaguely... Of course Loki cuz he was in Avengers, lol.
I was thinking the same. Phew.
sweatdrop Do you know if your spells work?
not much, realy... but the Circle itself is neccesary. that shape is very good at containing. physically speaking, a dome or cylinder traps heat better than a box. that is why igloos are round. the corners of a box will leak and let heta out. this is also part of how a thermas works; it traps heat with a combination of roundness and insulation.
thinking of it that way, a Circle traps the energy inside. it helps to keep your Craft contained.
and yes, The Morrigan is a triple aspect Goddess in Celtic Mythology. her aspects represent a Goddess of Love and Fertility, one of War, and one of Death. she takes the form of a beautiful young maiden or old crone washing the bloodstained clothes and armour of warriors who are about to die in battle, or as a red- or black-haired woman dresse din armour with a shield and spear. she also takes the forms of various animals, especially Crows/Ravens, Cows and Horses. but also notably an Eel and a Wolf.
Cernunnos is another Celtic God. he is The Horned God, the Green Man, often depicted as bearded with leaves and with a rack of antlers upon his head. he is a wild god of male fertility, vitality, energy, savagery and nature. he is a God of hunting and battle, as well as of forests and natural land, and also of sex.
Odin is the chief God of the Nordic religions. he is blood-bound to Loki, and they are tied together by Fate, as foretold by the Nirns (the 3 Demigoddesses of Fate and Destiny). Odin is the God of Wisdom and Mysteries, who martyrs himself constantly for the sake of revealing secrets to Gods and Humans. he impaled himself on The World Tree, Yggdrassl, for 3 days to gain the knowledge of Runes. he gave up his eye stealing great artifacts from Giants. He has an 8-legged horse named Sleipnir, and two Ravens named Thought and Memory.
Loki is a God of Fire and Mischief. his nature is often criticized by other Gods, but he often is teh reason that so much good comes in the world. without his acts of chaos and conflict, events would never be put in motion that eventually lead to the Gods coming out on top. according to Fate, however, he will betray the Gods in the battle of Ragnarok, and the Gods will lose the war and the world will be destroyed. but because of Loki also, a few survivors will create a New World.
Shiva is a Hindu God, who created the world we live in by dancing, and who stomps demons to hell with his dances. he is a God of Destruction, who purifies souls and leads them to Nirvana to escape the cycle of reincarnation. he also destroys old things in the world to make room for new things. he has blue skin, and wears the pelt of a tiger.
Ganesh is the Hindu God of Wisdom and overcoming Obstacles. he has an Elephant head because Shiva cut off his head for not letting him enter his domain to see the Goddess Parvati (Shiva's wife). Shiva left to go to war and Parvati made Ganesh. she sent him to guard their house. when Shiva returned, Ganesh would not let him pass, so he cut off his head. they then went to Vishnu, and Vishnu let Parvati choose a new head for him. she chose an Elephant for it's wisdom. Ganesh rides around on the back of a mouse.
Ishtar is a triple aspect Sumerian Goddess. she is asociated with the planet Venus, and she also has an aspect of Love and Fertility, and aspect of Battle and an aspect of Death and Magic. Ishtar traveled through the 9 layers of Hell, removing articles of her clothing ceremonially as sacrifices at each gate. when she met Death he asked to marry her because he loved her. she didn't love him back, but she offered to have sex with him (representing sacrificing herself by ceremonially dieing -- Sex = Death in that since). in so doing, she gained the knowledge of Magic from Death, which she shared with Humans.
and as for Spells working... Spells, from a scientific standpoint, are the combination of Intent and Energy. all things are Mass-Energy, including thoughts. by focusing your willpower and concentrating on something, you are essentially "Casting a Spell." it's not mumbo-jumbo superstitious stuff... it's Prayer, it's Visual Exercise, it's The Law of attraction... whatever you wanna call it. the combination of Intentional Energy Manipulation with affirmative action is what causes success.
