Toby had a point. Dari's hearing was incredible. He could hear just about everything within a certain distance. And phone calls. And everything. Cody didn't usually see this as an issue. But it definitely made things difficult.
"We could text?" He suggested.

"About entity information, plans, references to HQ? Nuh-uh, sorry," Toby said. Cody'd have to get used to that if he wanted to be an ally!

"In person, then?" Cody suggested. "Dari would have to be somewhere else." He hated having to do this behind Dari's back. "Maybe while he's working a night shift again?"

"If you think you can wait," Toby said. "I mean, I'm not a proponent of lying to Dari, but you could have a 'parent teacher conference' if you wanted to as well."

Cody had never lied to Dari before. He frowned. "I guess I could," he agreed. "Could you ask Lori, then?"

"Yeah, I will," Toby agreed. "You just might have to wait a while before you hear back." He didn't like lying to Dari, but he understood Cody's desire to join him in relative immortality. It wasn't his place to tell him 'yes,' but he had been convinced beyond a stern 'no.'

Lori invited Cody in and sat with him in the living room. Luca had been banished to make tea, not that Lori thought Cody might actually drink it. He had no idea if the man liked tea. People told him it was a European thing.
"So," he said, voice soft, "What's with all of this interest?" His brow was furrowed and his eyes narrowed slightly as he asked. It was almost as if he knew already.

"Dari's been upset," Cody began, voice equally as soft. "Because I'm going to die. And he told me how unhappy he'll be and how alone he'll be for the rest of--forever. I don't know what to do, but I went to Toby first. I couldn't think of anyone else. I can't leave Dari to suffer like that," he looked away for a moment.
"You'll have Luca and Toby will have Maia and he's going to be alone."

Lori's lips worked around his teeth and he bit the inside of the lower one. This was tough stuff.
"Alright, listen. I'm not condoning any of this, but what do you want to know?"

"I don't know anything about werewolves," Cody admitted. "But what happens when someone wants to be bitten?"

"Well, first we tell them they're making a huge life-altering decision to be discussed not just with professionals," Lori said tellingly. Then he continued. "If you mean the mechanics, the bite's pretty horrible and they'll lose consciousness shortly after, if not from blood loss alone consider the fact that werewolves are, as a general rule, not very well in charge of their more human faculties while they're turned, and you can only tun yourself if bitten by a turned vampire. Toby couldn't just wander over here now and bite you and it'd be over."

"I talked to Dari but he won't have it," Cody sighed. "I'll talk to him again, I swear. I hate lying to him." He nodded, making a face. He wasn't looking forward to the actual bite. "What about transforming and...killing people? I really don't want to hurt anyone."

"Well, if you weren't in control of your urges then you'd have to take each full moon in the restraint rooms like Max and Other-Luca. Being a willful turn, though, means that if you clan wants you to go domestic, you can. Usually it's this whole big murder cult ordeal and they prefer their insanity, but even then it's their conscious choice. You have... control. Potentially. One in twenty won't be able to stop the urges and need either restraints or training like Toby which, frankly, has only ever worked on Toby."
Lori shifted and crossed one knee over the other. He could really use some tea...

"I don't want to hurt anyone," Cody said again. Restraints didn't sound appealing... Not once or twice a month for the rest of forever. N"There isn't a for sure way to know if I'll be in control?"
He looked up at a noise from the kitchen, but it seemed Luca wasn't done yet.

Lori reflexively looked to the kitchen. Nope, not yet. Still, they had better be careful. He had a feeling that there'd be hell to pay if Dari caught wind of this from someone else.
"If a person were to have supportive, friendly people around them to help, the chances are slim that they'd be insane. One in twenty sounds like awful chances, but you have to understand how few people want the curse. Besides, it's just as estimate. We could never know for absolute sure."
